  1. The thread is about why we are doing so much better. Present tense. You don't seem able to grasp quite a simple concept. If you want to discuss whether we will be better at the end of the season you could start a new thread.
  2. The Indy related paper. Right? Never read it.
  3. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the i? I read this somewhere middle last week.
  4. 7 points ahead, third of the season gone. Yes we are.
  5. Although it was his 4th cap in total. I recall WGS called him up initially after he took over in 2013 but he never made it onto the pitch and WGS never selected him again. I tend to trust Gordie's judgement.
  6. Unfortunately for them its largely because Monk has been found out. I understand they have insisted on him employing an experienced coach to work alongside him (as well as Beatts of course). Nice guy, former Saint, but not in the same coaching league as the Koeman Bros, Tinkerman or Bilic.
  7. Don't completely disagree when he plays RB. Its what happens when someone is played out of position. I don't know why Ronald does it. He is actually a better LB than RB.
  8. Nope, never considered him a good defender, he did have some quality going forward to be fair. Was a travesty that he pushed Dan Harding out. Abiding memory of Fox is him standing hands on hips looking back as the rest of the defence fail to deal with one of his cock-ups. Always seemed to blame someone else, one of the worst players to pull on a Saints shirt. Even WGS got shot of him very quickly, not good enough for the Jocks, that's saying something.
  9. Sorry to hear about Mike (nicknamed Jim Steele), but perhaps someone can do something about this thread now...
  10. Very sad and shocking news if true, only 65. Has this been confirmed? Mot seen anything on Facebook or Twitter myself (surprised Mick C has not tweeted as they are great mates). Great bloke, spent time chatting with him at the Black Bear in Moreton a few years back and of course that special day back in May 1976. If this is true perhaps someone can update the thread title, would be nice to have his name at least spelled correctly.
  11. Yep, you're right, the app I was monitoring live did say Ward Prowse, but updated it later to Akpom. Can't trust no-one these days, bit like the 2 yellows for Pelle on Saturday which still shows on their match report...
  12. Not really much evidence to support your claims though is there. His positional "nous" as you put it really is one of his assets, makes up for not being the tallest or the quickest.
  13. To be fair, nearly all of their players are based in France, England or Italy, probably makes sense. Not sure its anything to do with French colonialisation though, Kenya, for example, don't assemble in London before a game.
  14. On the other hand it might have been because Southgate was desperate to make some impact against the team that was bottom of the group with 0 points and felt he needed to do something decisive to alter the way we were playing. Stephens' red card just after buggered that up though. Still England are equal top of the group now.
  15. What was he doing in Paris?
  16. On the bench, subbed after 70. Stephens joined him 2 minutes later. Yoshida scored for Japan...
  17. Lucky if he finds any British meat in Tesco. Usually imported from Europe or New Zealand.
  18. ideal candidate...
  19. Anyone know what has happened to Ramirez? No sign of him recently again, missing from last weekend's squad, now missing from training on Twitter video. I guess he is injured yet again.
  20. Another year at Uni to complete I believe...
  21. 1989, 15k.
  22. Both equally bad. But just thinking "I'll do what I like" indicates a lack of consideration for others and for the team. The number of people who get up to leave early either before half time or 90 minutes then notice something interesting happening on the pitch and stand blocking the view of others is very annoying after disrupting a dozen or so people maybe by trying to get out of their seat. One of the down sides of all-seater stadia. Don't have a problem if people want to leave early, some have got very genuine reasons, but they should crawl out on hands and knees so that they are inconspicuous.
  23. It certainly used to be the case, until 96-97 when we did the 1-0 treble against Newcastle, Sunderland and Boro.
  24. Sorry Bobby, but it looks like you are the one who is a little mad. I guess you are simply unable to read a post and understand it, and also notice when a post was made. It is quite simple, after Saturday we would have been level with City and Arsenal if we had won the two games where we played so awfully after taking the lead, Leicester and Man nited. That would have given us 5 points more than we had now. So thats 20 + 5 = 25. Simple really, and perfectly achievable if we had not been so utterly crap. That is how close we are to the top of the league. Of course City and Arsenal went further ahead yesterday, but that was not the point. It is so frustrating that we can play so well and throw games away like we did at home to Man U and Leicester. Next time you want to accuse someone of being mad, take a little time, make sure you have read what you are responding to, and that you fully understand. Then perhaps also try being a bit more civil. This is supposed to be a discussion forum where people are entitled to their views, even if you are unable to understand or agree with them.
