  1. God there is some crap written on this forum by some who claim to be experts. If that's what you think of Davis, it beggars belief. I guess some just don't understand and can't follow the action when a match is being played.
  2. Burying bad news time. The u21s have conceded 5 before half time against Chelski.
  3. Thankfully saggy chops is not in charge of transfers nowadays. So at least there is a chance that any transfers will have an impact.
  4. depends if the Johan Cruff Shield is considered a competitive/official match or not. At some point in the past the English Charity/Community Shield was classified as a Friendly. Not sure if it still is.
  5. No, I seem to recall Dave Jones saying we had signed him on a pre-contract agreement which included Strasbourg keeping him until Rupert Lowe came on the scene and found enough money to buy him. I'm sure I read that somewhere.
  6. Hey Bearsy, not sure if you are serious, but really there is no reason to compare Prowsey with Davis. But if you want some data, then Davis had already won the FA Youth Cup with Villa. He was playing for Villa in the Premier League at 19 (Prowsey was 18 when he played against Man City), and at age 21 he was named "Young Player of the Year", "The Fans Player of the Year" and "Player of the Year" for the 2005–06 season after making 42 appearances during the season. He also made his full international debut at 20. Lets hope Prowsey proves me and lots of others wrong and goes on to be half as successful in the rest of this season. I wish him all the best, and sincerely hope he does, but at the moment rose tinted specs are having a huge effect on the judgement of some people on here.
  7. Oh Christ, here we go again. He's only 20, he's still young, he makes lots of assists, he is great at set plays.
  8. He was one of our better players, but he really was not good, just that Pelle, Tadic, Elia and Forster at least were woeful, so that makes him one of the better players.
  9. No he won't. He will never be a version of Steve Davis, unless he suddenly acquires pace, aggression and an ability to tackle. Even his set plays which he is supposedly renowned for, were **** poor today ( as were Tadic's). His shooting is woeful, straight at the keeper today, and his header was powder puff. No assists today either (which all the apologists say is his greatest asset).
  10. Form is temporary.
  11. This week's "stating the bleeding obvious" award winner
  12. Guardian reports fee in region of £3m.
  13. 71, 72, 73, 75, 76, 78, 79, 81. Until recently most successful ladies team ever.
  14. He'll be off to his spiritual home as soon as Portsmuff come calling, contract or no contract. Still 5 years should ensure the Skates won't be calling until his contract expires so maybe OK.
  15. According to Lawro's astute football brain Swansea are already suffering from having sold their best player and games keep coming thick and fast. Seems to have overlooked the fact that Bony has been at the AFCON with Ivory Coast, so Swansea would have been without him anyway. I really wonder what is the point of Lawro. At least in the old days he gave a home to a slug, nowadays nothing.
  16. Schneiderlin and Sneijder in would be excellent.
  17. The interesting thing for me is how this is going to affect our squad with regards to number of home grown players. We already have a small number and losing Cork, potentially Morgan and even possibly Clyne (not to mention Bertrand) means we could end up with a minimal number of home growns (excluding u21s). I have no problems signing players from Eredivisie or elsewehere, but when we ned to increase our squad size (if hypothetically we qualify for Europe) this is going to put a limit on our plans.
  18. But the one from Germany (Elia) is really an Eredivisie product as well, so that really means 4 out of 9 (because Taider really doesn't count). Still signing from the Eredivisie is a terrible idea, we could have ended up with Bony or even Suarez if we had pursued this policy before.
  19. 20 year old midfielder with 9 assists and 10 goals. Hmm, JWP but with goals.
  20. At least he'll have Dan Harding alongside of him, could have been worse at least its not a reunion with Danny Fox. Think that would have spelled the end of the football career of Jos.
  21. Surely if you're drinking a can of UK Fosters you would be safe anyway, there's no rule about drinking **** is there?
  22. Perhaps we should get Kenwyne Jones in
  23. Surely first was a world cup winning rugby coach.
  24. According to Ronald, he was taken off because he was having a nightmare and was not doing what he was supposed to do (paraphrased a bit but that was the jist of it). Not injury and not tactical, just plain having a bad game.
