  1. Sorry, but good as he is he gets pushed off the ball far too easily. Needs to develop, physically before he is anywhere near ready for first team. I didn't see anyone last night that was pushing for a first team place (including JWP who was quite anonymous, Gazza or Forren). I kept thinking we have something like 14 players out on loan, the u21s look very lightweight without them (Liverpool have the same issue according to their commentator). Forren does not look like he is better than what we already have, and I don't see any need to change from Fonte and Yoshi, as long as Fox is not playing there is not much wrong with these as our central pairing, and I would prefer Jos to Forren at the moment at least.
  2. Thank you precious, thought it had a nice ring about it. Then again maybe I was just fat fingering on my phone.
  3. You mean Mark Wright, our former skipper. Has been very complimentsry so far.
  4. Wish they had names on shirts. Offside Saidi, goal disallowed
  5. Makes sense, so he hasn't signed yet...
  6. Who is Mayuka? Does he play for us?
  7. So Plan B went into action on Saturday, but it didn't work, more long balls which kept going astray and actually played to Samba's strengths.
  8. Only if you believe we were playing brilliantly under NA. I don't think we were. What I saw on Saturday reminded me of several games both this season and last where our players do not seem to turn up. We were dreadful on Saturday, no creative ideas, no movement off the ball, poor passing, even an inability to control the ball. But i saw the same when NA as in charge, I don't know why this happens, its almost as if we are meant to lose some games to satisfy some betting ring somewhere (I jest, I don't really think this, but you do wonder sometimes why players don't perform). Perhaps players think they are going to get an easy game, but it is up to managers to spot this and do something, and I don't feel MP is any different to NA in this regard. Comments about Yoshi are interesting, yes he did have a poor game Saturday, but then take a look and see what changed, (1) he moved back to the left of centre because Fonte came in and (2) then has to cover again for Fox and his woeful positioning. Will be interesting to see how we perform against Norwich, this is the first time MP will have had to pick up the team from a woeful performance and will give us some indication of whether he has the skills and ability to pick it up. I just hope next time I'm at SMS I don't see our team play such crap again. I will criticise MP for his subs though, bringing on JWP and not Davis was baffling, and I was somewhat bemused that Guly did not replace Lallana, but I would concede that Guly was probably not fully fit, and that JRod did actually play quite well. But then NA was not exactly masterful with his subs either.
  9. We don't have a reserve team.
  10. Very unlike you to bang on about something for a long time.
  11. I think Henri Camara joined in the January transfer window, after Redknapp was appointed, so to be fair (and it pains me to be) he was actually a Redknapp signing. The rest were rubbish though as Steve said.
  12. Art, most of this post is absolute ********, but I totally agree about the subs. I suspect though that Guly is not fully fit yet, he only warmed up once yesterday (whereas most subs are out and warming up every 10 minutes or so). I don't think he was ever going to get on the pitch. I was shocked that MP brought JWP on and not Davis. We were crying out for Davis' energy yesterday. The stuff about flooding the squad though, really take a look at yourself, you usually post quite sensible stuff.
  13. Disagree completely, Shaw is very very good defensively, he is by far the best left back we have produced in the last few years, miles better than Bridge or Bale defensively. He is getting better going forward, he started off not having that confidence, but it is growing. Unfortunately he was completely to blame for the 2nd goal yesterday, mistake made by a youngster lacking experience. Fortunately it is a real rarity, and he will learn from it, but it was costly for the team.
  14. Lowe did not keep us in the Prem on a shoestring budget, it was Le Tissier that kept us in the Prem. Lowe managed to restrict our progress in the Prem because of his shoestring budget and lack of foresight and investment.
  15. Pay in lieu of notice (PILON) is not tax free. Redundancy pay is tax free up to a certain level, and is then taxable, but Adkins was not made redundant (the post of Team Manager still exists). Whether you can be paid a lump sum in lieu of notice depends on your employment contract, if there is no provision for this in the contract then it cannot be done without affecting the rights of the employee (if not in contract and you do it then any restrictive covenants on the employee are immediately lost). He has been relieved of his duties, and been put on gardening leave, probably until the end of the season. So currently he is being paid his monthly salary as usual. Contrary to the thread title put up by the OP, he is not taking legal action, he has gone to his union (LMA) and sought to resolve his situation through their arbitration service. Sounds to me like the Daily Fail trying to whip up a strom where none exists, and it seems to be working with some supporters. There really is not much of a story here, NA will get what he is entitled to at the appropriate time, meanwhile he is being paid in full on a monthly basis for doing nothing.
  16. Row Z safe then.
  17. Given Fonte was on the bench last week, there shouldn't be much doubt about him surely.
  18. Well, this is a fun thread, trolls feeding trolls. Norm for this board these days unfortunately.

    Redknapp

Lets not forget his other top achievements: 1977 Soccer Bowl losing finalist (but his team did lose to Pele - no not that one, the real one) 1989 Relegated Bournemouth 2005 Relegated Southampton 2013 Relegated QPR (To Be Confirmed) No idea why you are comparing him with Moyes, since he is a Scot, and clearly has not won much, nevertheless his consistent finishes with an underfunded Everton are quite remarkable. But really Redknapps's managerial achievements while not exacvtly rubbish really are no great shakes in a managerial career that spans nearly 40 years. He has some short term success but is never able to build on it because he falls out with the chairman/runs out of money/can't buy players/ - take your choice.
  20. I thought we were top. We are the Gooners youth aren't we? Or maybe we have now diversified and become more of a generic London Youth, supplying all of the top London teams :-)
  21. The old "we need to blood kids for the future" argument, specious. You don't blood youngsters for the next World Cup when it is in a year's time. You play the players that you think might have a chance of winning the bloody thing, i.e. your best players. If you carry on blodding youngsters for the future when do you say enough, this is our best team and go for the win. SRL is not too old for England, and probably won't be even for the next Euros. he may be too slow, but thats a whole diffrent argument (and in any case is pace really a must have for internationals that are usually played at walking/yawning pace).
  22. Think the point is that if he is out of contract and undergoing rehab there is a likelihood that he will get overlooked. There are dozens, maybe even hundreds of pro footballers that are left out of work each Summer, even ones without injuries, so his prospects don't look too hopeful. In the past Saints have sometimes been magnanimous and kept players on until they recover, but I doubt we will do so in RD's case.
