Transfer Deadline Day Who's in Who's out?
VectisSaint replied to Horton Heath Saint's topic in The Saints
On top of that we have also strengthened in what most feel was our weakest area, CB. So many people seem to overlook that we have strengthened by bringing Forren in already. I still have a feeling we will sign one more, but not holding my breath. Bringing anyone in for a possible 14 game season is a huge gamble and one of the reasons why the transfer window is such a crazy idea. -
Usual response from one of our resident trolls. In addition to his usual nasty reponses to almost any subject, he- also has a bit of a personal dislike of Lee. Assume this is a re-hash of the FC Tokyo story a week or so ago. Lee certainly showed potential last season, but seems to have lost his way since his injury. Links up really well with Lambert but hasn't been given that chane in his 3 apps so far this season.

Was it NA that was the Secret Squirrel after all?
VectisSaint replied to merrimd's topic in The Saints
In the case of Lallana and Fonte would have been diffi ult to say otherwise on the evidence of all the pictures and videos from Barca. AL is clearly in full training, while JF is nowhere to be seen as far as I can tell. Guly though is a different matter, must havepicked up injury during late training, or on flight home. Still, it made Glasgow's day giving him his chance to try to be funny. Now about as funny as Skacel jokes or Dalek promoting Hoddle. -
Survive and be backed or get relegated and be sacked??
VectisSaint replied to pangy's topic in The Saints
People seem to forget we already made one signing in the area most felt we needed, Poor Forren has been largely overlooked with the timing of his signing. I still think we will see one more in at least by Thursday, in midfield, and wouldn't be surprised to see a striker. Seems quite clear that we have been working the market, even if only Coutinho resulted in a bid that is in the public domain. At the end of the day though it is a fine balance bringing in new payers at end of January, at best thay have 14 games before the end of the season, you need to be pretty damn sure that they will have an impact AND that we will stay up to invest much at this time of the year. -
Gemmel is clearly a spokesperson for the Cult of Cortese. I find it quite interesting that people seem to think NC is either a good or bad businessman and discusses his dealings with customers and suppliers. The truth is that his bckground is in commercial background with a touch of sport management. He has no background working with consumer type customers or with dealing with suppliers in the construction or entertainment or other industries involved in running a football club. Although I am sure he gets involved he has people appointed for this sort of thing, not surprising that in general some business dealings go well and some maybe not ideally, thats how business works. But maybe a little inexperience in the early days might explain some of the episodes that have been blown up out of all proportion in the past. Cortese is really no more of a successful business man (i.e successul at running a company) than was Lowe, whose background was also in investment banking and running a retirement home.

Of course its not imaginary. Keep taking the pills, the men in white coats will be along shortly. Being paranoid means never having to think that you're alone.
-
Unlike Lowe I don't think Cortese has done any such thing. There are a few, maybe half a dozen rabid anti-Corteseists on here and TUI, and maybe one or two at most who CB Fry and Turkish believe would form their imaginary CoC. Just about everyone else really couldn't give a monkeys. Upset about the way Adkins was sacrificed, sure, but pro or anti Cortese, not really. He is a Chairman. He doesn't play and he doesn't coach. He holds the purse strings, wait long enough and another one will come along, and maybe it won't be that long if some rumours are to be believed. What happens at the end of the current 2.5 year project? Can't wait to get back to some football or at least some transfer speculation. Still expecting one more signing.

FFS, not Saul. Awful replacement for Chivers.

Is the issue between MLT and NC a professional or a personal one?
VectisSaint replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Its personal, its blown out of proportion and I for one am bored by it. It is irrelevant. Much more interested in what is happening with the football. Sky are trying to stir it up but its clear from the reaction they are getting from Saints fans that most really don't give a toss. There are about 4 people on here who seem to have a problem, two of whom have an obsession with their imaginary Cult of Cortese. I really do not care much about Cortese, he is current chairman, does he play football, does he coach the team, no. He just happens to be the current owner. As long as he is not a total tool like Lowe then I for one really don't give a **** about him as long as he has the best interests of the Club at heart. -
Its not news, it happened in September. If they reported it then it would have been NEWs. Still have to agree that a legend like Big Jim should be welcomed, a nicer bloke you could not hope to meet. Guess this means he is no longer at The Bear in Moreton in the Marsh. Always enjoyed a quick beer there when visiting on odd occasion.

I think we should stick to the Skids and Muse. OWTSGMI is for the supporters to sing.
-
Also goes to show that others get it spot on... "Morgan is the future, I suspect Hammond may not be with us when we play in the PL"
-
The table purports to include net spend in the whole period regardless of which league we were in. Therefore it would include the sale of Oxo at least (others?). Otherwise our spending would be significantly higher.

Excellent, home and away to Newcastle every season, 6 points guaranteed :-)

I don't think Hod woud, agree with that sort of training. That was WGS approach, mixed with a bit of Sturrock. Your standards are slipping (thank feck).

There's always a first time...

The spokesperson for the Cult of Cortese is probably busy preparing the interview as we sit here reading nonsense. It will have taken him a long time to discuss with all his imaginary fellow cultists.
-
... and still they say I am no good at ze Inglese... I fooled those Sky peeps and Mr McMenemeney good and proper. I learn English from a book here in Barcelona.

If Brighton supporters sang that, there would be no surprise. Still, its a free country so feel free to leave your closet.

I can see one fatal flaw with these lyrics...

Do we need a Campaign for red and white stripes and black shorts
VectisSaint replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
We are planning to wave hankies at the next home game but SISA have not announced whether the hankies should be white, red, red & white, white & red or grey. I understand they are holding a poll amongst their membership and the results will be known in 4 days when they have finished counting. They can only manage to count one vote a day. The Cult of Cortese will also be protesting about anything anti Cortese. It will of course be a very short protest because the Cult only exists in certain people's minds and there is nothing that Cortese could possibly do wrong to warrant such a protest. -
Just goes to show that you have not watched him at all, but just jump on the bandwagon. Guly nearly always puts a lot of effort in, but his languid running style belies this. He is not the greatest ever player but usually does as he is asked, and puts in a good shift. Badly needs a goal though, it is beginning to be a monkey on his back.

Are we PRO or ANTI Cortese on this Forum
VectisSaint replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
So you don't answer the question, even though you are consistently one of the most anti Cortese. Indeed you are so anti that you have even made up an imaginary cult to enable you to visualise everyone who.may have a view that ranges from pro to nearly anti, but who are more pro than you For me, the matter being pro.or anti a chairman of a football club, even Saints is not really of an relevance. There are some things he does well, others not so, but as owner or owner representative he is really free to do as he sees fit. I support Saints, chairmen, players, managers come and go, wait long enough and a.new.one will come along. Pro or anti is a.complete irrelevance.
