Presumably we do a full assessment centre with in-tray exercises, role plays, mock coaching sessions, debriefings, and press interviews? Plus Thomas psych tests too? Guessing the Black Box gets a one-on-one with candidates too? Probably a bit like the film 'War Games' (or possibly 2001).

I do wonder if the formation is forced on the manager by Reed. It seems so........ I remember DeBoer leaving CP and the reports he had upset the board by NOT playing a specific formation, despite it being a part of his contact (I might be mis-remembering the contract bit). My point being: are we sticking with 4231 because Reed requires it?

Picture the meltdown if he goes there! Bet they'll go for DeBoer.

Okay - so maybe not Hoddle. But someone with a bit of intellect, connected in the game...... forward thinking. Give fat Les a bit of a grilling........he's too comfortable and apparently all-powerful.

There is nothing. And that is what is so bloody alarming.

As a consultant, reporting to the owner. Give him free range to review football operations right across the club..... understand and challenge Reed's set up and planning. Give a view on the quality of and approach to coaching, make recommendations to improve. If "The Southampton Way" is all that, and Les is some kind of maestro, then he should welcome the chance to have his vision and planning critiqued.

I thought we looked okay in the first 10-15 minutes. We pressed high and moved the ball better...... albeit without creating. Then we reverted to type. We could still be playing now and we wouldn't have had a meaningful shot. The players we have are individually better than the points we have....... we're basically underperforming, without a clear identity and set up without any cutting edge. Just listened to MoPes interview......he does not sound like a man who has a single clue what to do. I cannot picture him inspiring change in the players.

C'mon Mr Gao.......it's time to show some leadership. I wonder if Don Cortese has been on the phone to him yet?
