Really? He can't even get into the Norwich side and every time i've seen them this season they've been ****. Not saying he wouldn't be better than what we have atm but can't say i'd be too excited about it.

I really hope all the English teams get knocked out. Would make it so much more interesting after the last couple of boring CL knock out stages. Mourinho's Inter should batter United, Ferguson has only beaten Mourinho once in twelve games so far and I'm not convinced he knows how to use Berbatov in a big European tie. Arsenal - Roma could go either way, probably just tip Roma unless Arsenal bring in a decent defensive midfielder in January. Liverpool - Real will probably be a boring win for Liverpool, will be the first CL knock out tie for Jaunde Ramos against Benitez. Can only really see one outcome although I'd love to see Real win. Chelsea - Juventus is hard to call, probably will be a Chelsea win though. Would be good for Ranieri to end Abramovich's chances though. Villarreal v Panathinaikos Sporting Lisbon v Bayern Munich Atletico Madrid v Porto Lyon v Barcelona

That's really good news, a full house would be awesome. -
Spot on Adrian, not many teams play 4-4-2 anymore. People are far more reluctant to play an attacking formation especially away, 4-5-1/4-3-3 or whatever you want to call it is becoming the norm and is also part of the season why there have been so many more away wins this season. The only problem I have with our system is when we're 1-0 down and still going 4-5-1 when we should be taking a gamble and going 4-4-2. JP seems too reluctant to change it around when it could be the difference.

Pretty good, hopefully we put in a decent performance. -
If we can't beat those two at home then we deserve to go down.

We need to get a home win, I really hope we can get the three points on Sat, I think it could be pivitol to our season. If we can get a decent home win, especially with a decent crowd then we might be able to turn the corner at home. The worst thing this season has been the inability to follow a decent result with another win. If we could get back to back wins against Forest and Plymouth we would shoot up the table and restore a bit of confidence. Would still be happy with four points just as long as we beat Forest.

0.75m for Kelvin, maybe a little bit more depending when his contract is up for renewal. 2.0m for Surman 2.5m for Lallana

Holmes is a massive player to miss for a long period, he's not an amazing outstanding player but he's our only real winger and he gave us an outlet for the whole game. Without him we don't have anyone who can do that and we must have tried 10~ different players on the wings since he left. Schneiderlin is a big player as well, hard to ask an 18 year old to play every game though and even worse to rush him back from a hamstring injury, once he's fully fit he's a class player. He's been key in all our best performances. Gillett looked good because he was playing with Schneiderlin IMO, not a bad player but his injury certainly isn't the reason we're playing poorly.

Sky Sports News: Stoke in for Lallana and Surman.
Andy_Porter replied to derry's topic in The Saints
Sounds to me like Stoke know we're skint and they're taking the **** a bit. Lowe probably wants the money all up front so we've negotiated a deal like this. 3m for them both is a bit of a bargain, Surman could well become a very good player in the Premiership and Lallana only needs a bit of coaching to become a top top player. -
If Lallana and Surman are both off then paying off Euells contract would be ridiculous. Our midfield with Lallana, Surman, Euell and maybe Cork wouldn't even be worth thinking about. Would be almost as weak as our bunch of strikers.

Derby win, can't see them getting relegated tbh.

For God's sake make whoever is picked wide right, bloody well play there.
Andy_Porter replied to derry's topic in The Saints
I'd quite like to see that on Saturday, a 4-4-2 would be great, the current setup doesn't seem to be working at home. I get the feeling that Lallana is being told to play free by JP, which is probably where the problem comes from. You can't play like that as a right winger, especially not when BWP on the left hasn't got any discipline either, we end up playing really narrow which is too easy to defend against, especially against teams who are content to leave 10 men behind the ball when they don't have possesion. -

James would probably be a decent shout if we had another right back, Cork has to be either be centre back or holding midfield imo so that leaves James as our only real choice for right back. Don't really see why Gillett would be any better than Lallana at right wing, he's not a winger and he's only real in the side because of his work ethic, not something you really need from a winger. Thomson is one for the future imo, looks good when i've seen him play but still very young and learning the game, would be used better as an impact sub. I'd like to see Holmes on the left, Euell in the hole and BWP on the right with hopefully Saga upfront. If Saga does come back he's another option on the right, he's played there for Poland recently and done a good job. BWP isn't exactly a great option on the right but at least his pace and goal threat would be handy. Hopefully Gasmi comes good after Xmas, I'm not sure he's an out and out winger though. Should all be alot better when Holmes returns and we actually have a decent winger in the squad and we can stretch teams a bit more. -

I'd quite like to see Gasmi get a start on the right see if he has anything about him. He's another midget though like Thomson though. -
Saints 4 points above relegation. Portsmouth 5

Pompey are 8th in the Premiership. More worried about our current position really... -
Ince should have joined a CCC club before taking a Premiership club, his signings have been terrible. I can't see one decent player he's signed for Blackburn, he's just out of his depth. I don't think we're the club for him though.

do we have the most financial restrictions..?
Andy_Porter replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Massive stadium debt, lots of high earners and lots of loan players and we're below average in terms of attendance, not sure about gate recipts but I think most clubs charge about the same as us. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/attendance?league=ENG.2&year=2008&seasontype=1&&cc=3888 We could probably do with a takeover. . . -

Might be worth sticking BWP wide right in the coming weeks when Holmes is back fit. Lallana doesn't seem to be influencing games from the right at all.
