The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
SuperMikey replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
There certainly is the money aspect, but Fonte could've easily moved to a Prem club in January had Palace touted him around a bit. Lallana was rumoured to be off to a Prem club at the start of the season, but Pardew convinced him to stay. I don't see why Pardew couldn't convince Kapo that coming here would be a great option as well. Looking through this thread though TDD, you've done a lot of "he won't come here" or "there's no way this will happen", there is a lot of negativity in the stuff you put on here. Jus' sayin'. -

FM (being the fount of knowledge that it is), states he's on £20k a week. That is a bit too much, but he is a Prem player after all. Some of the other Premiership players that people are talking about on here will be on much higher than that, but it doesn't rule them out. Kapo might easily take a pay cut in return for regular first team football and the chance to help take a team back up to the Premiership. He's on loan at Boulogne for christ's sake, I know i'd much rather drop a few divisions than end up at that sh!te hole for the rest of my career. Perhaps you don't slag off everything about the club, but you are certainly one of the "glass half empty bunch" that seems happiest when we lose and you have something to complain about. That's just my two cents anyway. Having not met you, it would be unfair to say you're a c*nt, but that's how it comes across sometimes. The internet can be a cruel mistress. I'd say we have more chance of signing Kapo than either of those players tbh, Bikey especially. Bikey will go to a mid-Prem club in the window and Jones is getting more and more involved in the first team action at Molineux, so I can't see him leaving to drop down 2 divisions. Kapo on the other hand, isn't valued by the Wigan management and is on loan at Boulogne, who are currently 19th in the French Ligue 1. He's played for Wigan 20 times in 2 years, and those appearances were mainly because of injury problems in the squad. I don't see why he wouldn't come here tbh. Maybe a bit of a long shot, there may be CCC and even Prem clubs interested, but definitely worth a try. -

Ah, so this is the Olivier Kapo who played for Juventus 14 times in 3 years? That'll be the same one that's played for Wigan 20 times in 2 years as well then. He's been sent out on loan to Boulogne, pretty much the French equivalent of Hull or P*mpey. Hardly Lionel f*cking Messi is he? Just because somebody has played for Juventus doesn't necessarily make them an absolutely amazing uber-player. I'd say that Kapo is more than reasonable as a transfer target in the summer, and i'd be very happy if he joined us, unlike you who seems to be contented with just slagging off everything to do with the club, even stretching to ruling out potential transfer targets because they once played for a good club. You should go out for a drink with Alpine Saint someday, you two would have a ball. -

Hence the: in my last post. The other 3 are all reasonable suggestions and would be great signings for us imo. -

TDD and Saint_Clark, they weren't entirely unreasonable suggestions. Can't see Etherington leaving Stoke, but McCann and Kapo have fallen out of favour and could be tempted here. Sinclair won't be breaking into the Chelsea first team anytime soon, and considering he went on loan to Plymouth 3 times in 4 years, I reckon he'd be more than happy to come to L1 and win a title with us. Pardew has said he'll be bringing in players that would be great in the CCC, and these are some very fair suggestions. You could end up being very surprised come August with some of the signings we make, believe me. I got chatting to a security guard at SMS the other day, and he took me into this back office and showed me a picture of all the players that we'll be signing this summer! (No, but seriously, fair suggestions.) -
Looking pretty resounding so far, and well deserved. We would be nowhere near where we are now without Rickie, his goals, his assists and his creativity. He's been an absolutely vital player for us this season, and long may it continue! All hail, Sir Rickie of Lambert.

Mandelson wouldn't qualify, you have to be human to be a c*nt.

Well, that was a load of sh!t.

The way I see it, it's going to be between: Jack Straw Ed Miliband Dave Miliband Harriet Harman Ed Balls Alastair Darling (not sure if he'd stand though) Out of them, i'd only really want Straw, Harman or Balls. The Miliband brothers are too vapid to make good leaders, nothing going on behind the eyes. Darling is also too Major-esque, very boring and dry, but could potentially be a sensible and good PM. Whether or not he'd stand though is another question. Either way, I think we could definitely see quite a few hats being thrown into the ring for the next leadership elections, but it will need to be somebody special to win back all the disillusioned Labour voters that have jumped off the bandwagon in the last few years.

Played for England though, you don't just wander into the England team without having a modicum of talent in your body. Obviously Heskey is the exception to that rule. Jeffers has never got into double figures for a season though, so maybe we'll give that one a miss... Spurr is still pretty young, only 19 I think. We are pretty sorted for LB though, with Harding in his mid-20s and Mills about to turn 20 soon. Also, what about James O'Connor from them? Reliable CM, good defensive play but dangerous on the attack too. Very solid, would be an excellent signing imo.
-
Definitely put in a cheeky bid for Mark Beevers and Tommy Spurr, quality centre backs and still plenty of time for them to develop into great players. Is Jeffers worth a go as well?
-
Good to hear that, hopefully he'll be involved more next season as he certainly looks promising. However, from the general census on here, being one of our best players today was no great feat

Just put one on for tomorrow: Man Utd Blackpool Newcastle Leicester Crystal Palace West Brom That returns £38.11 off £1, not playing for big money like I used to, because it never pays off. I'm working all day tomorrow without access to a phone as well, so won't find out how i've done until I get home!
-
How did Martin play folks? Been out for the day so not had the chance to listen.
-
Nobody said there was spanking involved..
-
He shouldn't have been such a f*cking bigot then. Put your own prejudices behind you and get on with your job ffs. (Not you obviously, the bloke in the paper)

I'm ITK on this one actually, I saw him shopping for pants in Matalan last weekend, thought it was odd that he was here in So'ton, but now I know why. Could be a half decent signing, would struggle to get in the team ahead of Wotton though tbh.

EDIT: Bastarding Spudgun got there before me. ---------------- vowels

All seems to have gone quiet on the Sergei and TDD front for a bit, so i'm off to bed and i'll check back tomorrow afternoon to see if they've come up with any answers. I'm not holding my breath. xxxxxxxxxx

Gordon is devastated after his idea for an all-chimpanzee handball team for the 3046 Olympics in Dakar is rejected.

But of the 2.5m unemployed, how many would want to be cleaning public toilets or flipping burgers at Little Chef? Also, you say "get them to leave" like you could just flick a switch and they'll all vanish. I can safely say that any operation like that would take years, if not decades, to remove all 600k from the country, and we just don't have the resources now to mount an operation on that kind of scale at the moment. It makes a lot more sense for these people to stay and help us through the difficult time we're having rather than getting them to clear off and leaving us with a gaping hole in the workforce which isn't going to be filled by unemployed web designers and software engineers, let me tell you. How exactly is it barmy? It's the only immigration policy of the 3 main parties which is even remotely operational and can be implemented straight away, and it also makes sense. Didn't hear Cameron and Brown talking about how they'll deal with immigration, they shirked the question or changed the topic rather than resort to talking about their p!ss poor policies. At least the Lib Dems have the cojones to tackle the issue and go public about it, the only other parties to do that really are the BNP and UKIP, so what does that say about the parties at this election? And I wouldn't speak too soon about Lib Dems not getting enough power to implement it, if we end up with a LibLab coalition (looking unlikely now) then i'm sure the Libs will push it and Labour don't have an alternative solution. If the Conservatives form a coalition with the SNP and Plaid Cymru, we'll have another general election within the year, voters will be disillusioned with the Conservatives and could turn to the Lib Dems, as we've seen with Labour voters flocking to the Libs at this election. Don't speak too soon is all i'm saying...

Well, that doesn't really fit with the whole "98% of jobs have been given to immigrants" spiel that Stanley...I mean, 'dune', is coming out with now. We're talking about giving them citizenship, i've got no issues with that. If you lived and worked in say, Bulgaria, for 10 years, built your home there, had a job, your family were there with you, would you say that you were entitled to say you were a Bulgarian citizen? The fact that these people have come here illegally is irrelevant now, because they're here now and have been for quite some time. Nothing we can do about that. What we can do is incorporate them into our system so they can benefit everyone by paying taxes and contributing to the economy. Nothing wrong with that imho. What would you do with these 600,000 people then if you don't agree with this policy?
-
Ok, well switch migrants for immigrants then. I think they should definitely have the right to stay here if they've lived here for more than 10 years, worked or are working and contribute to the economy. In fact, it'd be stupid to kick them out. Taking 600,000 people out of the workforce is just sheer moronism.
