  1. No worries, I completely agree with that. We can't have a start like we did last year, we need to hit the ground running and that means being 100% for the start of the season. Imo we need to start our pre-season ASAP, perhaps doing a tour of a European country (Switzerland anyone?) and then catching up with a few games against local opposition to help them out (Totton, Eastleigh etc, who I think we're contractually obliged to play in pre-season anyway). It's vital that we get ahead as soon as possible, and that means being ready to win the majority of our first 10 games to establish ourselves as leaders in the league.
  2. Tbf I went to both of these games in the pre-season and the majority of the side was made up of youth and reserve players, hence us being billed as a 'Saints XI'. The first team were 'arsing about' playing Hearts, Lazio and QPR.
  3. Overrated. Would struggle above L1 level, could be okay in CCC but lost in Prem. He's not got the physical strength to hold the ball up, he is quite quick but that's underpinned by his lack of acceleration, and his attitude is awful sometimes. Ever since he scored against Man Utd he started to believe his own hype and got complacent at a time when Leeds were relying on his goals to retain their lofty position in the league. I can't see Leeds not going up now anyway, they seem to have found their feet again when it matters.
  4. Fair point, but Kelvin isn't really the commanding type of goalie imo. He's not really a physical presence, but he does pull out some really top-drawer saves when they're needed the most, and he is a very intelligent and sensible guy on the pitch, a cool head when needed. Ashdown would be perfect for 2010/11 on a rotation basis with Super Kelv, then perhaps succeeding him in the future as Kelvin nears retirement (remember, he's 32 atm, not sure how much longer he will be playing/can play at this level or higher for). On his day though, Kelvin is a fantastic player for us and a real talisman.
  5. Jamie Ashdown is a good shout imo, would be fantastic back-up for Kelvin or perhaps first choice for next season. Bit unfair on Bart though, as he did well when called upon earlier this season.
  6. Please tell me you're joking and Labour didn't rope in an Elvis impersonator!
  7. Bournemouth's reaction is fantastic! Funny that they see us as their rivals when we don't actually give a f*ck about them! Onwards and upwards Saints, have a nice summer's rest, focus yourselves, welcome your new team-mates when you go back to training, thrash P*mpey (or AFC P*mpey) in our pre-season friendly and then let's go and win the league!
  8. P*mpey fans are completely deluded, and they need a reality check. I think the most likely outcome is one similar to Wimbledon. Team folds, AFC team starts, works their way up through the divisions. Would be interesting to see how many of "teh worldz gratist fanz" would travel to teams like Tooting & Mitcham or Sutton Utd, and they'd still have a couple of seasons of consecutive promotions to get to that level!
  9. That's the number 1 priority for next year imo. We won't win the league or even be able to think of promotion if we can't go to the teams in the bottom half of the league and come away with 3 points most times. I'm 99.99999% sure that the management at the club will have picked that out as an improvement for next season anyway, so hopefully we'll be able to improve on that particular aspect of our game.
  10. The lounge?
  11. I can put mine up, been finished for a while. PM you Pancake?
  12. To be fair to Huddersfield, they do deserve to be in the play-offs. They've got a great manager in Lee Clark, their players have really performed above themselves this season and they've got a good, sensible chairman who isn't throwing money at them, but is spending sensibly and reasonably. Wouldn't be surprised if they won the play-offs tbh, and I think i'd quite like them to win as well over teams like Charlton and Millwall who I don't think have the strength in depth to cope in the CCC anymore.
  13. Not sure whether we're keeping the same away kit (minus the sponsor), but I think it's pretty much nailed on for the home kit to be plain white with a red sash. If you search about on the forum there was a thread a while back with various mock-up designs, GeckoSaint did some very good ones too.
  14. Come on lads, 4-1 again! Got to carry this through to next season
  15. 1 - Lambert 2 - Lallana 3 - Harding/Fonte/Jaidi Lambo has just been a key player for us this season, backed up by the fact that he's played in every game this season (except the first game, which he played for Brizzle). Without him we would still be playing like we were last season imo, he's a real talismanic figure for the team and fans. The only thing I worry about with his fantastic performances this season is the threat of another club coming in and poaching him, which is always a reality. He's been constantly linked away from the club, and that is worrying, but that's what happens with every in-form player in the world. It is absolutely vital that we keep him this summer, as we'd struggle to replace him at this level, even with the backing of ML. Lallana gets second because he's just improved so much this season. Last year we could see his potential, but it was being overshadowed by the negative aspects of his game, such as his lack of strength and his defensive game. However, this year he's improved on these two things (and more) in a very physical league, as well as being played in a new position. Add 19 goals and 5 assists to that and you've got to give the guy credit. Again, like Lambert, it's vital that we keep him this summer. Harding, Fonte and Jaidi are tied for third because they've all come in and done magnificent jobs at the back. They've really helped to shore up the defence, which was one of our main problems last season, and I think if we had a back 4 like we did last season (without Saeijs, who was excellent) then we wouldn't be where we are now. I'm not sure for how much longer Jaidi is going to be able to play week-in, week-out, but we've got Seabourne and Martin waiting in the wings to make an impression, so hopefully they can step in when needed. Very honourable mentions to: Davis, Hammond, Antonio, Barnard, Schneiderlin
  16. Michael Brown is a c*nt of the highest order imo, some of the challenges he has made throughout his career have been horrendous. Every player makes the odd bad challenge every now and then, but MB seems to do it on a regular basis. £1m as well!? No, thanks.
  17. Where are you guys watching this online? It's been a 'mare trying to find a working link, could somebody PM me one for episode 5 and 6? Cheers!
  18. Yep, didn't really work out. Oh well.
  19. The ones outside the warehouses/offices near the ground usually command about £5 each (although when the P*mpey game was on the guy we normally go with was charging £9!), so i'd say that's fair. You get a lot of people doing the same for Wembley, they even offer the use of their toilet and food if you want it etc. Could be a nice little earner, over £100 a season not including cup and friendlies.
  20. Just put a quid on Liverpool and Fulham to win at 49/1. Pretty good if you ask me, considering Liverpool are only 1 goal down and Fulham are level.
  21. SMS pitch is always brilliant, top marks to the team. Maybe we could rent him out to other clubs like Exeter and Tranmere so we don't struggle on their sh!tty pitches next season?
  22. I nominate Amy, she'd be a great mod.
  23. Good to have you back Alps
  24. Never know, might see me down there in late May when I go on study leave for a couple of weeks! Probably after I get paid...
