  1. There's Footy Manager for iPhone!? All I need now is an iPhone and money to buy the FM app and I can manage on the move...
  2. Piquionne? As in Piquionne? I admit, he's not done too badly this season in a pretty poor team, but I don't think he's Prem quality and he certainly wouldn't want to come to a L1 team. Rumour has it that he thinks the Skates are way above his level
  3. I agree to an extent, although I think Lambert could do reasonably well in the Prem if he's in a team where he gets lots of chances and support. He's a natural goalscorer, and his 30-odd goals this season and 30-odd last season have proved that imo. Although he is yet to be proved above this level, i've got no doubts that he'd do well in the CCC and could possibly even be a decent player in the Prem, although if Lambert is still here when we eventually get to that point, i'm not sure if he'd be more than a squad player.
  4. Ibrox?
  5. I've been making the most of 4OD at the moment, watching some things that i've meant to watch for a while. First up is Spaced, Shaun Pegg and Jessica Hyne's late 90s/early 00s brilliant sitcom. When I first clapped eyes on Shaun of the Dead, I fell a bit in love with Shaun Pegg, and naturally anything with him in it is worth a watch for me. Spaced follows the typical boy-meets-girl and oh-look-we're-flatmates formulae, but it manages to make them seem completely genius. The characters are so strong and likeable (or detestable) that you forget they're characters and they actually kind of become your mates for 30 minutes. My favourite character was Northern Irish raver 'Tyres', a bike courier who delivers graphic artwork drawn by Tim (Pegg) and has a very short attention span and seems to constantly be off his t!ts on some kind of narcotic. If you've not seen it yet, I advise that you watch it (both series' are available free of charge on 4OD and YouTube for the sake of a few adverts, or alternatively you can buy DVD boxsets for peanuts), and if you don't like it then i'll conclude that you're obviously some kind of moron/dune and you're not worth the time anyway. Also on the guide was Russell Brand's Ponderland, which is basically just a vehicle for Brand to rant about various different subjects, accompanied by weird and wonderful archive footage. Brand explores subjects ranging from Childhood, Holidays, Food, Education and Crime to Pets, Christmas and Sport. While I like Brand and think he's a funny guy, he doesn't strike me as a particularly amusing stand-up comedian unless he has something or someone to play off, and that's where the archive footage comes in. The production team have dug up some real gems worthy of a few belly laughs themselves, and then Brand's observations added on top is the cherry on the icing on the cake. Even if you don't particularly like Russell Brand, it's worth giving a couple of episodes a watch just to see the fantastic stuff they cover (and probably some nostalgia for all you old people). Last, but not least, is You've Been Watching, which is currently showing on Channel 4, but i'm watching it on 4OD instead of TV because i'm not some kind of conformist pig. Hosting the proceedings is the irreverent Charlie Brooker, who is my hero, so you won't hear a bad word from me about him in this little review. The format of the show is quite simple, 3 panelists, getting asked questions about TV in order to win points. What is slightly out of the norm is the fact that it seems to be aimed pretty much at geeks and completely embittered people, which is fantastic as I am both of those things. Some of the things that Brooker comes out with are just completely sh!t-your-pants hilarious, and the panelists are also pretty funny as well, with comedians such as Kevin Bridges, David Baddiel and Jason Manford making appearances so far. This isn't the first series of the show, and you can watch the other series in parts on YouTube (you can find them you lazy sods) and I recommend that you do that if you've got a bit of spare time and you can't think of anything useful to do.
  6. If it can benefit our economy and trading, then I don't really have any objection to it. However, at this moment in time, I don't think it's the right thing to do. Maybe in 4-8 years when the Lib Dems would want us to join it might be a more sensible idea, but for now we should definitely stick with the good ol' british pound.
  7. 'This item has now expired' IIRC I did see this particular clip, and I think he was comparing them as two different types of player but two players who could easily play above the level they're at now. I think he said that of the two, Lambert would make a better Premier League player.
  8. http://m.sky.com/skynews/article/15619409 Surprised there's not been a thread on this already. Not sure how they expected to win any votes in a multi-cultural area such as Dagenham anyway, the votes of ethnic minorities (the ones who are eligible to vote anyway) would drown out the ones of disillusioned white folks due to sheer percentages. And before dune/stanley/whoever else comes on and spouts the usual "Nick Griffin is a racist moron, he doesn't represent the true values of the party blah blah blah", I advise they take a look at the rap sheets of some of the other major BNP politicians.
  9. bitumen
  10. Do I really need to answer that?
  11. The chinese takeaway sells them for a lot cheaper. You ought to do some market research Jilly.
  12. How long would one of them take in the oven on at about 140degrees?
  13. Leeds and Huddersfield please.
  14. 1985 kit is pretty close, but apart from that there's nothing similar to it on there. Not sure why you'd make it up, but still seems slightly odd to me that a security guard would a) have access to a picture of the new kit and b) would randomly show it off to someone he's known for about 20 minutes. Still, like I said, if it turns out that you're correct, i'm willing to accept that I was wrong, it just seems all a little strange to me and I don't think it's true. You could be a P*mpey WUM for all we know...
  15. Yep I'm finding it hard to believe that a security guard at SMS would just flash about a picture of the new kit when it's meant to be secret. Seems a bit odd to me. Also, i'm not sure if we've ever worn a kit with white sleeves and the rest red, so it seems an odd choice for a 125 year anniversary kit. I'm looking forward to the sash kit, which I think is the most likely option, but i'm prepared to admit that I was wrong when the kit is revealed later on.
  16. McWhirter
  17. Yep, I call BS on that one.
  18. I understand that they were taking the mick out of that idea that 'celebrity sells', but as revolution saint has pointed out, Labour's got a fair few celebrities in already to help the cause so far anyway, and now they come out and say "oh no, you shouldn't get celebrities to influence politics, that's naughty and bad". What a load of hypocritical bullsh!t. FWIW, the general public are morons. They'll buy anything with a celebrity's face plastered on it, and that's obviously extended to politics now. The American presidential election was exactly the same, with various celebrities coming out to back the Obama/Biden campaign and the McCain/Palin campaign. Is it really Eddie Izzard, David Tennant or whoever else's place to say who we should vote for? They are actors/comedians/singers/writers/models/athletes/whatever, they are not politicians and they should stick to what they do, and that is not politics. What does it say about the state of our country when we have to rope in famous celebrities to galvanise people to vote? I know that it's happened in the past, and it will almost certainly happen in the future, but I don't think it's moral. That's politics for ya
  19. I was wondering today, what kind of demographics do you think that the political parties cater for? In my mind it's something like: Conservative - Upper/Middle Class, Older People Labour - Lower/Middle Class, Middle Aged People Lib Dem - Lower/Middle Class, Young People Of course, this is pigeonholing of the nth degree, but having talked with friends, neighbours, family members, teachers etc I can see clear demographics and clear differences in political opinion between different social classes. Almost every single one of my friends (aged 18-20) say that they're voting Lib Dem, whereas most of my teachers (28-50) say they're undecided between Labour and Tory. Almost all of my neighbours (40-60+) say that they're voting Tory. I'm sure this is hardly a groundbreaking observation, just something that i've picked up in the last few weeks. Everybody knows that the Conservatives cater for the upper classes and Labour tries to make council flat mum's believe that they understand what they're going through, it's just interesting to see it in action. Anyone else noticed this kind of trend amongst their peers?
  20. I get the irony, but an Elvis impersonator is more Granny's 70th Birthday Party than General Election. I can see a lot of ridiculing coming Labour's way tomorrow...
  21. Wondered when I saw the thread name how long it would take for someone to say that... Seems that I underestimated us SaintsWeb members! McNish is a more defensively geared midfielder, and with time I think he could become a first team member.
