  1. Maybe NA wants to play Butty in a more advanced role ... midfield or attack?
  2. So, according to that link, he doesn't want to come to us. He wants to go to Swindon. Fine by us - we don't need him if he doesn't want to be with us.
  3. Don't tell him, Pike! None of your business, TartanOwl. You're one of them, not one of us.
  4. A shame for them, yes, but its more about US than about THEM as to whether we get 3 pts 2moro. NA needs to get their heads right. If he does, then we'll win, regardless of Colchy's lineup.
  5. I agree. He would come for £2M transfer fee plus his wages. Get him now. The alternative is no goals, no promotion. Him or an.other goalscorer pdq.
  6. I think you're right there, Wade G. They run out of energy in the second half and start hoofing it up to Lambert who has sadly been poor so far. We do need to get in a few loans soon to take the strain while NA gets our lot fit and energetic.
  7. I did, Stevo, I did. It would have been a coffee on the screen moment, only I wasn't drinking coffee. But it made me laugh. That with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young as well ... it became a 'where are they now' moment.
  8. I was referencing the Crosby / Cosby debate FWIW. How many of us had fantacies about Clair Huxtable-Cosby? Ohh, just me then.
  9. oh come on, it was funny. It made me giggle like a girl.
  10. So Adkins was offered the job yesterday? He accepted, subject to compensation being agreed. At some point today, we offered the job to Eddie Howe (it seems). He turned it down today (per reports). This could go t1ts-up, if Adkins get the hump and feels shafted. We need .. I say 'we' ... obviously, the Club ... needs to close a deal with someone soon, or else could find more managers not prepared to take a job that has been touted and offered to others. Hopefully tomorrow this will all get resolved.
  11. He's not my first choice either. But I don't see that Adkins has played a single card wrong in this. He is keen to join us, but wants to ensure Scunny get the right level of compensation. This morning, it did appear that NC was at fault, but as the day has progressed with the OS statement, it has now emerged that the Scunny chairman was speaking out of turn by declaring the deal was off. I revoke my earlier comments and now accept I was hasty in my criticism, but point out it was based on the only statements in the public domain at that time. Adkins seems a good bloke, trying to do the right thing for Scunny and for us. We have had 'nice blokes' before and it hasn't worked out. Let's hope he can lead us to the Promised Land. I'm sure there will be confirmation of his appointment tonight or tomorrow.
  12. Noodles, have you been on the sauce? There more double-entendres in this than a Frankie Howard sketch! Ooh er, missus, no, I say ... ooh I really do ... "cornflakes every morning, sometimes you need frosties"!!!! I'd settle for cornflakes at any time of the day, even once a week would be nice. You've got me at it now!!!
  13. Rubbish, yourself, Turner. Players look at the manager and decide if he has 'gravitas'. They will look at Adkins and think 'here today, gone tomorrow'. Nah, I'll stay where I am.
  14. Alexandra Burke?
  15. Get off Mullet's back. He's right. After all this talk of a wow signing, we're getting Nigel Adkins, a deadringer for my GP. If we have aspirations of the Premier League, we should get in quality - the best we can. Adkins isn't going to attract quality players, and he isn't going to excite our current players and make them believe we are on the fast track to success. The only hope I have based on the original quote is a belief that compensation would have been agreed with Scunny before we talked to Adkins, so I'm hoping this is a false alarm. Still dreaming of MO'N or Phil The Power. I'd even take Eddie Howe right now.
  16. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ OK, My choice is Brown simply because he has can attract premier league players who are proven to do a good job with/without out a huge cheque book, something Adkins could never do. With Adkins, we could attract no-one and would have to make do with what we have. With Brown, we could attract a better quality player as he has charisma, unlike Adkins, who looks like my GP.
  17. Yeah, I would imagine Wilkins wouldn't make (m)any changes to his side from last Saturday. All the talk from the players is that they were unlucky, and things will somehow click into place soon.
  18. If we're talking about people who have attended recent games ... Bobby Gould was there on Saturday. (Dave Merrington talked to him at half time!) Don't tell me he's being considered for the setup? (agonised look smiley)
  19. Hence my comment earlier in the thread about "free beer tomorrow."
  20. OK, she has brains. Does she have beauty? Pic please, Tim. After that, leg it.
  21. "New manager announcement tomorrow" is becoming like the sign in the pub "FREE BEER TOMORROW". Never is it today, always tomorrow. So we keep tuning in in case it's today.
  22. I just hope there is pomp and circumstance with the announcement ... cos I like pomp and circumstance. There's a real drumroll feel about this appointment, so i don't want simply an OS announcement. I'm hoping NC has booked Potters Heron, or maybe the De Vere, and invites the press along. Build up the tension to fever pitch, then announce "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, please be upstanding for our new manager, Mr ..... (insert name here) " !!!! And the new manager appears from behind the curtain, to an audible gasp of disbelief !!!! Come on NC, surprise us! We want to be wowed!
  23. This Friday at 4pm press conference. Paraded at the game on Saturday up at Swindon...... unless it's Danny Wilson in which case it will be delayed until after the game.
  24. er, NO, to both the original question and to all comments that followed.
