  1. Just looked at our team that day, and despite being in the Premiership I'm not sure it's any better than the one we've got now! Southampton: Blayney, Telfer, Lundekvam (Kenton 36), Hall, Crainey, Fernandes (Griffit 81), Folly, Anders Svensson, Prutton, Beattie, Ormerod (Phillips 74). Subs Not Used: Poke, Blackstock
  2. Worst game had to be the 4-1 (maybe 4-0 as I've tried to forget it) loss at Pompey. That's when I knew for the 1st time in my 25 years of supporting them that Saints were definitely going down.
  3. I'd choose Saints over England. Perhaps if England played an exciting attractive style of football I could get patriotic about it, but all to often it's bland and disappointing. When I watch England, in the major competitions, half of me is always thinking what do other nations think of our football, are they held in wonder by our superior skill, determination, tactics, good looks? I can't remember the last time I was proud of England's football, possibly the 10 men against Argentina in 98 or the knock out stages of the 90 World Cup. Quite often I'm in wonder at other teams, Zidane playing at another level to every other player, the non stop running of South Korea in 2002, even the brick wall that was the Italian defence in 2006. If England were clearly the best team or had something special about them, maybe it would sway me away from favouring Saints. I still find it hard to believe that the Germans could really have celebrated the 1990 W.Cup win with such glee, if that had been England I'd have been gutted. In addition I was thoroughly embarrassed by England in 2006, it was a ****ing awful display.
  4. I was 10, been a Saints fan for 1 year, a football fan for about as long, I was distinctly underwhelmed as I'd never seen Keegan play, found it hard to believe that someone could be a better footballer than those already wearing the red and white stripes, when I did get to see him play he still didn't seem as good as Golac or Channon, Holmes, Williams etc. Just another cog in a great team. Only years later did I realise what a coup it must have been. I lived in London and was told by my dad (the only other Southampton fan I knew) who never rated Keegan anyway, called him a clockwork mouse. So it didn't seem that big a deal. Great times though!!!!
  5. and I mean EVERYONE!!!
  6. Oh nobody mentioned that we had a chance to go into admin in March and have the 10 points deducted this season, which would have put us down, but would have resulted in us starting next season on 0 points. Instead Rupert tried to be clever and put Southampton Leisure Holdings into admin a week after the deadline, claiming it was not the club that went into admin, and that therefore Saints should not be punished, the F.A had a meeting and decided SLH and Saint were inextricably linked and docked us the points. Also Rupert went on a media offensive, appearing in any medium that would have him, blaming everyone but himself.
  7. Currently top of my fantasy football league and prefer to watch the points roll in with Jeff Stelling and Le Tiss. Also flying to Korea at 9pm
  8. In the same interview I especially liked how he, in exonerating himself from any blame, named and stitched up a Southampton supporting employee of the local Barclays and implied it was his unprofessionalism that led to the clubs present predicament, along with the 2006-08 board of course. I am unable to stop hating the odious little man.
  9. The comment about chipping away at the debt was made after Jeff Stelling had read a long long list of players sold in the last 5 years and the money received for them. He repeatedly asked Tiss 'Where has the money gone? Where has the money gone?' it was to this that Tiss said something along the lines of 'I don't know, could have paid for the stadium 3 times over. There has been gross mismanagement and you would have thought they would have been chipping away at the debt' I got the impression Tiss couldn't fathom how the stadium debt had barely been reduced with influx of money from TV, increased attendances and player sales with no great expenditure on buying players. As mentioned above, he noted after the cup final we spent only £4 million during the summer.
  10. The last 3 times I've watched Saints the quality of the football has been FAR worse than the feed.
  11. I like him, he's not bad at rehabilitating the careers of older players and disgruntled youngsters, wish he'd been able to spend a bit/line his pocket while he wa with us. His teams usually play football. Now Billy Davies...there's a c***
  12. Nice one Saints!! Noticed that Plymouth dropped from 8th to 13th after a late equaliser, if they'd conceded another they would have been below us, this division is still wide open, well the play off spots anyway.
  13. penalty Blackpool bugger
  14. Not much noise there
  15. Big thanks for the TV link, and thank you South Korea for having the fastest internet conection in the world!! This is my first look at Saints and I'm liking what I'm seeing, Holmes looks a good player, going past people and getting decent crosses in. More of the same please saints
  16. Let's have another Saints!
  17. Up the Saints! Let's put a couple away against that Derby crap
