  1. All these weeks of 38 and 39 points and we'd been safe all along. When were we on/passed 35 points? Shame, the last day of the season is going to be nothing but a fight for places now. Relegation spots sorted, Championship sorted. Boring.
  2. There was an Arsenal fan on TalkSport earlier giving it the biggun, saying that Arsenal could finish 3rd because they'd score tons of goals against their last two oppositions, easily scoring 3 or more tonight. Saying things like that is basically asking for trouble, especially with regards to a team that just won the FA Cup from giant killing the former League Champions. I won't deny Arsenal will go on and win this, they very well might, but not by the romp he was expecting I'm sure.
  3. This is a good game. I can't help but think Wigan have left it so late to start playing well. If they'd played like this all season they'd easily be mid-table. Unlike relegated sides before them, if they go down, I can see them bouncing back quite quickly.
  4. Wigan are looking good. Sod it, I'm sticking a grand on Saints 0 - Stoke 15.
  5. Even if Wigan win tonight, I've got more chance of becoming an International Platinum-selling music artist in a long term relationship with Taylor Swift than Saints have of getting relegated on Sunday, such is the set of hugely improbable events that would need to happen. Wait, I've got de ja vu...
  6. Ha! Though you think you would only need two bashes to get a ten...
  7. One thinks that Bearsy may struggle...
  8. I strive to write English perfectly, I prided myself on it at school and was always top of the class in English, but I hate to say I did that quiz, and only got 6/10. Ergo I'm not as talented as I thought, and as a result I'm not going concern myself with comma's in the right place anymore. :-)
  9. It'd like to see us bring in Nick Powell on a cheeky season-long loan. The lad is class from what I've seen. From Crewe he scored some real MLTesque goals. I wonder if Moyes will let him leave though, what with wanting to see what all his new players can do at United.

Based on the final day fixtures, ANY win we get, even if it's 1-0 should see us finish 11th unless Newcastle or Norwich pull off a remarkable win. Sadly West Ham have Reading at home and I can't see them losing that. But we'll all need fresh underwear and therapy throughout the summer. We could lose 30-0 and it wouldn't matter, as Wigan's bid for safety will end tonight. IMHO of course.
  11. I've got more chance of becoming an International Platinum-selling music artist in a long term relationship with Taylor Swift than Saints have of winning the league next season. Only the managers are changing, the squads will be pretty much the same. With the right players brought in, we can be top ten, or even top eight, but as for winning the league next season? No chance. Give it a couple more years of growth though and we'll see. I'm more interested in seeing if the long term spell of Manchester United dominance over English football dies with Fergie's retirement, but I do think we'll have a wait to find that out.

I do like the look of Lambert in a deeper role like that, dictating play from an attacking midfield point of view, and then having a pacier striker up front. Lambert has the creativity and brain to play that role in my opinion, and as he gets older I wonder if that will be the sort of position he ends up playing... or even deeper like Mark Hughes with us.
  13. Without reading the thread in full yet, I jsut want to say I hope Cortese doesn't go, because surely the Liebherr's money will go with him. I like the club where it is, and we were all set to have an interesting summer of transfer activity. If he goes, who knows where the club will end up. Yes we're in the Prem, with all the new TV money that goes with it, and thanks to Markus the debts are largely paid off, but I wonder where this step leads us, if in fact, it does actually happen.
  14. I had 42 too. I think the majority has it at 43 points. Can see us beating Stoke and finishing the season on a high. No Charlie Adam for them should help.

Strong team please, there's still quite a lot at stake. Boruc Clyne Yoshida Forren Shaw Morgan Cork JRod Davis Puncheon Rickie Forren to make his debut now we're safe. Should be interesting. A win would see us seriously fly up the table, based on looking at other teams' fixtures. Even a draw would see us perhaps jump a spot or two. Lose and there's a good chance of 16th place. 17th spot should be covered by Sunderland, Wigan or Villa, so we should finish higher than that. We're good enough to beat Stoke though. I really think we are.
  16. Does anyone think the higher up in the table we finish, the more attractive we'll look to players from abroad?
  17. Oh Lord. We're going to have "If we lose 12-0" posts all week aren't we! (Or at least until Arsenal spank Wigan on Tuesday...)
  18. I like what Villa have been doing lately - their young players have finally gelled and they have good attacking talent. So Villa. I like the way Wigan go about their football, and their never say die spirit they've shown in recent weeks too. So Wigan. I like Palace in general, it's one of the few away grounds I've visited and they have overachieved this season. They'll also be the easiest of the play-off trio to beat next season! So Palace. I care not for Sunderland really, I think they've woefully underachieved this season. Watford have used tons of loans all season, it's worked for them but I like teams to have a family of players of their own, not borrowed from abroad. And finally Brighton, whose fans and manager irk me. It'd be good to have a derby of sorts next season, but I prefer Palace. None of this will happen though, bar Villa staying up. I think Brighton will go up, although them in the final with Watford would make for a good game anyway, and of course it's Wigan who we can see going down.
  19. Yep, pretty much my thoughts on Lallana. He's not been the same since his injury, but with a full pre-season, he will be a useful player next season. He's Premier League quality IMO, having powered us up through the leagues, he just needs to find some form. I would strip him of the captaincy, but aside from that to replace him would cost lots, and I do think he'll have a better season next year. At one point today they were safe, but I don't think they have too much to worry about. Wigan's fight will be over on Tuesday IMO, and the last day will be a massive anti-climax for the teams above them.
  20. Yep, just noticed. Changed "beat" to "thrash"! Still two Wigan wins, which still won't happen, and Sunderland could be toast. They were safe before Puncheon's goal too.
  21. As it turns out it is Sunderland that will have fishy pants this week if Wigan thrash Arsenal. A Wigan/Villa draw and it's Sunderland that will be going down.
  22. There's a reason we're all breathing a sigh of relief at safety! ;-) Ok, I'd rather our season didn't have to come down to safety just because two of our rivals are playing each other, but nonetheless that's the case. And I still think we'll pick up a point or more next week anyway.
  23. The voice of reason...is....a...bear! And I thought it was Owls that were supposed to be wise! ;-) I like this. Improvement every season please.
  24. THIS!!! But for now I'll say 13th.
