His contract was up next summer and they can't afford to let him go on a free next summer.

Is Frazer the 1st player with a Letter Z in his name to play for us?
SNSUN replied to ericofarabia's topic in The Saints
Anthony Pulis's middle name is Zoe. This may not be a fact. -
Shh, if Cortese reads this board he'll take that as gospel!
-
I would sell my sister to be back in the Premiership - if £3 is worth it in the long run then so be it. I could **** and moan about it all I like, but the "tax" is there and it's not going away, so I'm living with it.
-
They do sound utterly peed off. I remember all those times in the noughties when we were selling our best players - it wasn't a great feeling. It's so nice to have the shoe on the other foot, but I do sympathise with them a touch. I notice they fancy signing Jackson - I expect most of the top teams in League One and the whole of the nPC will fancy signing him tbf...
-
YES YES YES! I suggested Frazer as a HCDAJFU signing a couple of seasons ago when he was at Leeds - 2 years late for my wish list, but still happy! Bags of experience at this level and was the Leeds captain. A very good signing, I'd be interested to know how much we paid, but I guess that could come out in the future. Only today on the other thread I said I'd be happy when we sign a right back, and I am. Harding as back up? Or more to come? This has whet our appetite for more now!
-
Sweet. Good news if he can stay fit. I still think we need one more striker, and I still think we should continue the policy of signing our rival's best players. Thus I'm going to hold my breath until Pards signs Jordan Rhodes. >
-
Yes please - has a record in the lower leagues. Shyte. AND they have Max Gradel who is a very similar player. I'd rather have Antonio but would this free Gradel up for a transfer/loan? I would take Aliadiere if he wouldn't be on silly money, but methinks he would be. So no ta.
-
Keep him as fit as possible, and this could be our (re-)signing of the summer! No signings since Dickson - I reckon NC and AP were waiting with knowledge for Cardiff to be hit with their transfer embargo before stealing a couple of their assets! I'm still not concerned about the lack of signings, although I will be mightily relieved when we bring in a recognised right back. Yes we need cover at CM and in attack, but as long as that one right back comes in, I won't be too concerned, although the lack of pace in the team still worries me a tad. In two weeks, if we haven't signed anyone, I'll jump on the Alpine bandwagon.
-
Bearing in mind he left us 5 years ago, and was a shower of shyte, I don't think he has any claim to the shirt. I would give it to Barnard. :-)
-
Personal reasons. Even if he'd stayed in the team and redeemed himself, he'd still have been my worst player of the tournament. (The Norwich links play strong)
-
Muller must be the shock of the tournament - the fact that he hadn't scored before this World Cup for his country (that I only learned yesterday), makes his 4 goals all the more suprising. My player of the tournament goes to Wesley Sneijder, he'll win the cup for the Netherlands, mark my words. Worst player of the tournament? Robert Green.
-
Tis a load of balls. He spoke up recently saying he was ready to lead England's front line again if needed - he wouldn't sacrifice what slim chances he has of doing that by joining a League One club. (If it does happen, you may slap me about with half a cucumber.)

Hope so - long gone are the days of turding one out then getting a finger full of poo as the bog roll can't cope. 'Twill be easier to mop up the tears of laughter too, when we hear Pompey have been docked 30 points.
-
For ten months of the year, AP is Southampton every single day. Let him rest! If I got bothered by work when on my holidays, I'd tear them a new a-hole. Chillax, new season is around the corner. If he's not present at the Plymouth game, THEN be worried.
-
We realise we've made a terrible mistake releasing Lee Molyneux and are re-signing him on a five year contract?
-
No, SSN will still broadcast online, God knows if they'll make you pay for it though - I wouldn't be suprised. Good news is that BT vision have bought the rights to show SS1 and 2, so perhaps that's the path to go down...

I found out that BSkyB is pulling Sky Sports News from Freeview in 2011 and making it a subscription only service. It will be replaced with Sky 3 +1, which is perhaps the worst channel on Freeview. I must say I'm gutted about this - I love SSN, its breaking stories, Soccer Saturday and heavenly female presenters always cheer me up even when there's sod all else on the other channels. It's Sky's channel, so they can do what they want with it, but taking its popularity and appeal (which is largely due to the fact it's on Freeview) and offering it only to subscription viewers (thus denying the poor a quality channel) smacks of "Sod the customers, let's make a profit". Time for a protest. Is anyone else a Freeview only customer that will miss it?

I reckon so - Cortese gave Pards the money with promotion the aim - unless Liebherr gives him some more, I think most of the budget is gone. There will still be frees brought in I would assume, wages pending. I think our forward line is ok if Connolly signs on. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the obvious youngster that springs to mind, although I do think we lack pace without Waigo and Antonio. I do hope we continue the fight to bring back Antonio - Good for us and one for the future. I rate Danny Butterfield, I'm suprised Palace ditched him. Would be superb experience for the right back berth, and is also quite versatile if we bring in a specialist right back - so can play elsewhere when not needed in that position.

Nigeria banned from international football for 2 years..
SNSUN replied to bungle's topic in General Sports
Harsh, but if it gives the team a kick up the backside it's a good thing. Feel a bit sorry for the older Nigerians closer to retirement that won't get another chance to play for their country though. If it were England though, I don't think I would support it - but would missing the Euros in 2012 be such a loss? -
Scratch that, we have now been told that as of today we are no longer accepting them.
-
I wonder whether Pards would like a bottle? He'd probably just give it away free of charge.
-
1 out of 2 ain't bad. I like the look of the Japanese team, but aside from Honda they have no-one up front. They'll be a big force in world football in a few years, mark my words.
-
I'd take that - I have a few bets on Argentina and think they'd rather play Portugal than Spain!
