Get promoted to the Premiership following points deductions to all 58 teams above us.

I voted Lallana in terms of the fact that he's exceeded all our expectations of him. Lambert is a close second and I'll give honourable mention to Harding who has been very good on the times I've seen him play.

A game we SHOULD win. A game we will win? Yes. A win and a clean sheet? Yes. I predict a riot. 4-0.

This is key. Over and above the fact that he's a tactician that can switch between formations, has told players that are not up to it that they'll be shipped out, and is 100% truthful during interviews with his assessments and visions of the future, he has assembled a team of quality. Not one of his signings has been a miss. Granted, not all of them have had the same impact and degree of success, but they've all played their role in our good form. Not all of them were plain sailing either - Lambert and Hammond were always going to be good additions, the same could be said for Jaidi and Harding, but you could say that he gambled on players like Connolly, Antonio, Murty and Waigo. Gambles sometimes don't come off, but for Pardew he must have some sort of magic touch. Mellis would be the only incoming player that raises a doubt, but he undeniably has quality, has shown it, and after all it's not his fault he's not getting alook in currently. I'm looking forward to the transfer window to see what Pardew does. Yes, he'll have a duff signing eventually, let's just hope it's a loan and not a perm.

That should be every single club in the world's target, naturally, but I think we can look above relegation battles. There's enough crud in this league to cushion the blow (no offence to every other club in the league) and we should now be looking to the play-offs. I'm suprised that I'm saying that - twas only a few games ago that I said the same about relegation - but I'm now struck by the quality and belief our team has to move onwards and upwards. One win changes little. Lose against Tranmere and the pessimists will be out, but looking at the League table I'm starting to genuinely believe we can be there at the end of the season in the top six. There's tons of time to go this season - it's not even Christmas yet. We should be higher in the table, but that's to do with the first few games of the season when we hadn't gelled and were mixing and matching the team - since then we've been very good and had promotion form - hiccups like Brighton will happen, but overall we should get more wins and draws than losses this season and absolutely our target should now be the play-offs.

My parrot has no need to fear me anymore. Saints good form is certainly a blessing for pets. I think the RSPCA should present us with some sort of award...

I said six points at the start of the week, and we got it. That's the important thing. We may not have kept a clean sheet again, but 3-1 is fast becoming my favourite ever result. The same old names on the scoresheet too, it's refreshing to see strikers do what they're paid to do! (Sorry Saga...) The League table looks amazing. To think that this is the first time this season that we would have been in the play-offs had we not had points deducted is a great feeling - and as has already been said, we're only 9 points off that all important (and seemingly very achievable) play-off spot even with the deduction. Will the wheels fall off? Right now, it doesn't feel like it, and let's not think too much into that. I hope Saints can give us a very rosy Christmas indeed.

COMEONYOUREDS is right, I believe it's too late, the deadline passed last week.

Cortese offers you £5m on Jan 1st...what would you do?
SNSUN replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
Buy a Bugatti Veyron. Oh for the club? Well I wouldn't sign anyone on big money - I'd rather keep the bulk of the £5 million until the summer when we have a better idea of where we are and which players will stay. We do need a Trotman replacement, or at least get Trotman on a loan for the rest of the season, and another striker in the Lambert mold. -
Happy with a draw, happier with a win. We need to go into this fixture thinking we'll win it. We can, we will IMO. Walsall are no pushovers this season, but then they haven't played us yet. 2-1 win, we'll sneak it at the death.

If my parents had to make the decision, I'd be a gonner as I'm the bastard child from hell. I don't have children, so I'd save my missus. :-D

Just pray to God every day that Rooney breaks his metatarsal or Algeria and Slovenia find a shed load of quality players from somewhere.

I don't think he was up for it. I know Chris Lines of Brizzle was up for it...

A great question - I've most definitely made some wrong choices in my life. In fact, I would probably go back to when I was five and start all over again. Ah back to glorius 1986 with the knowledge I have now - I could have achieved greatness. If I could go back to when I was 12, I would probably have chosen my GCSE's differently at 14, thus not being forced into doing the ones I hated, and doing the ones I wanted to do, which meant doing the A-Levels I wanted to do, which meant going to the Uni I wanted to go to and doing the degree I wanted to do and achieving the job I wanted to do. Either that, or I would've never dumped my first girlfriend. What a mistake-a to make-a.

Anyone know when the draw is? It'd be great to see Adam get the award to show how well he's done for us this season. (Whilst hoping the big boys don't take too much notice of this...)

Big yes. Where I work, football rivalry is strong, and while there aren't any Skates, I was getting a hell of a lot of stick in the past. They're not all big team supporters as well, it's a healthy mixture of clubs, Brentford, QPR, Palace etc. This season I've had the luxury of not getting the taunts, and instead getting a few "good win for you the other day" comments. It's superb. Even in my personal life I feel lifted, and I genuinely look forward to every game with eager anticipation. For the first time in ages I'm rummaging through my work diary to find the games I can attend, something I've not done in the past. (Norwich in the JPT is the next one!) Fortunately my other half is a Norwich fan, and they've followed us down through the leagues, so I've not had the ribbing that one could expect from a girlfriend with a successful team... :-D

Every one of Pardew's signings so far has been a hit, in a major or minor way, and they have all contributed positively to the team. It's so nice to have a manager we trust to bring in the correct players that we need. I'm looking forward to the ins in January, I'll be turning a blind eye to the out's though...
-
We have the finances to keep all our best players. Trying to persuade them that their future is with us and achieving promotion is the key to keeping him. Lallana is probably the shock of the season in terms of my expectations, I doubt he'd go in January (and I hope he doesn't twice as much), but if we're not up in May, trying to persuade him to stay with us for another League One year could prove tricky.
-
In the couple of games I've seen him this season, I've not been impressed, however we tend to forget his age, and the fact he joined when we were FUBAR. He undoubtedly has talent, but perhaps lacks some consistancy. The benefit however opf having a player like Morgan, is that with our ambitions to obtain successive promotions (if that happens), he's a player that will fit in no matter what league we're in. In League 1, there's a lot of hussle and bustle, and Morgan does get stuck in and does what's required of him, but as we go up (if we go up) through the leagues, he also has that quality you need from playing good flowing football. I think with these differing playing styles, he could well be a first team fixture for years to come, as long as we keep the vultures away.
-
A win is a win. A clean sheet is well recieved too, even if we didn't have much to deal with. Better finishing and the rest of the season is looking lovely. Another 3 points on Saturday at Walsall (not easy but doable) and we'll already be flying towards mid-table. Hoping it will be a good Christmas this year!
-
If Harding doesn't score in this game, I'm going to shoot puppies. Naturally I don't want this to happen, so I'm very much hoping Harding scores. (To avoid an RSPCA charge, by "shoot" I mean "get excited on" and by "puppies" I mean "lovely lady lumps".)

Saints V Wycombe Wanderers - First half and half-time chat.
SNSUN replied to Griffo's topic in The Saints
To those frustrated at not being out of the zone by now, I understand your concerns, but the league is very tight and if we get the 6 points this week, which I genuinely think we'll do, we'll be encroaching upon mid-table. A decent December and by the FA Cup 3rd round we may well be pushing the play-offs. Our slow start to the season has cost us so far, but you can't blame the boys for that. Now we're settled and look at the form. Blips like Brighton will happen, but as long as there are more ups than downs, we'll be ok. I do think the play-offs are beyond us, there are 6 or 7 teams that will be up there at the end of the season, although I still hope for the best, but I think the platform will be built for a promotion push next season. Fingers crossed for THIS season naturally, but I'm just enjoying each game as it comes without looking ahead too far. -
Irrespective of the line up I think that we'll pick up the full six points this week and fly out of the relegation zone and towards midtable. I'll be working tomorrow night so I expect something to cheer me up. a 3-0 win and a clean sheet would be perfect.
-
I trust us this season to get past either team, so as a result I'm going to be ****y and say that I'm looking forward to the 4th round.
-
I voted for the League, because that is always the main priority, but we'll be safe enough this season, and as such should consider the JPT as our best chance of getting to Wembley.
