I wouldn't be suprised if it is: Davis: Got to keep a core of regulars. Butterfield: Giving him some game time and Frazer a rest Fonte: Same reason as Davis. Martin: Gives Jaidi a break, three games in 7 days is tough for him, poss. Seaborne if he's fit. Dickson: Or Harding if he's fit. Chamberlain: For creativity purposes, he'll tear Cheltenham a new butthole. Gobern: Faith in the youngsters? It's him or Guly. Hammond: As per Davis. Holmes: He's looked good in the last couple of sub appearances, his dead balls are better than anyone elses, and it gives Adam a break. Lambert: Until he scores ffs, this could be the game he needs to find the net. Connolly: If fit, but I'd like to see Doble given a start if he's as promising as people say. Poss. Guly though, playing behind Lambert. Big dilemmas for Adkins, a strong team could cost us with injuries or suspensions, a weak team could cost us an FA Cup run and a growing lack of confidence.

He's a good player but there are many good strikers out there, we ideally need to do what we did last season and sign the best striker (or one of the best strikers) in League One, making us stronger and other teams weaker. To that end, I would still love to see Jordan Rhodes here. Huddersfield would doubtful let him leave, but every player has their price, and he would be perfect to give Lambert a much needed rest. On the odd occassion I've seen him, he looks like a very good young player, knows where the goal is and is every bit as good at heading as Lambert. At 20, he's a fantastic age too. Worth breaking the bank over for the future, IMO. I don't doubt Adkins knows attack is our priority for a signing, January will be an interesting month, as long as someone is brought in, I'm happy.

Over the two games, I'd say Jaidi was one of our best players. Nobody beats him to a header, his run into the Brighton penalty area on Tuesday would've been worth the admission fee alone if he'd headed it in. Brighton fans think he's shyte but he still managed to run the length of the field without being challenged. Lambert is off goalscoring form, and that's how he's judged, but he still works his butt off. He could've had 4 goals or more in the two games, had he been in the same form as last season. Attack is still our weak link though.

He's far from crap but I wouldn't sign him, there are better options out there. He's not a striker and is just filling in. He'll be in central midfielder on Saturday I reckon if Chaplow isn't fit.

Sat in Lime Street car park heating up my hands. Great atmosphere, shocking reffing. Brighton timewasting was unbelievable. Great save by Kelvin for the penalty, so it feels like a point gained. Thought Lambert worked hard, unlucky not to score with a header. Roll on May, we can still win this league, Brighton were average imo.

I'm a puff. I only had my Saints shirt on on Saturday, and was ******* freezing, at half time, I put my coat back on, along with my gloves, scarf and hat. Those Northern monkeys can catch hypothermia if they like, I personally am a creature of comforts.

I believe both had played before, in the victory vs Coventry (?, I may be mistaken), but it does deserve special mention. I remember Berkovic's crackers on MOTD that day, and thinking Ostenstadt was a brilliant goal poacher, and thinking we would do well that season. I was listening to it on Solent whilst on holiday in my parent's caravan, and the whole thing was rocking with every goal we scored. My first ever live Saints game was that following January in the FA Cup 3rd round, when we lost 3-1 to Reading and had Slater and Benali sent off, and Souness stormed onto the pitch afterwards.

He used his right foot to cross on one occasion. We may have a ready made replacement for Punch. His set pieces were top notch too.

The one in the green top will be ok once she gives birth to her octuplets.

The favourites to win the league will beat the usurpers to our position. Just. 1-0 Saints. Looking forward to it.

The penalty that won Colchester their game was terrible. We could've used them drawing that too. Big brown envelope for that ref.

I'm very warm, if someone in the Chapel fancies a hug.
-
Looked more like Robbie Savage tbf. It'd make a tough spot the ball competition.
-
Oh I'll be singing - it'll keep me warm because I predict it'll be flaming freezing on Tuesday night!!! SAINT NO STOPPING US NOW......
-
I couldn't get a ticket for the Kingsland, so I'm sat with the lovely people in the Chapel for this game. Meh, saved six quid.

We always get some weird votes in these things.

It's not unheard of for subs to get MOTM awards, this game isn't one of them in my opinion, but Holmes was very impressive when he came on, especially in the more unfamiliar right sided role. His left foot was delivering good dead balls, and one of his flicks looked amazing. I believe the last time I saw Holmes play, bar a brief subs appearance last season, was in the CCC, when we lost 3-0 away to Palace, and he looked shyte. Keep him fit, and he'll be a real asset judging from his performance today.
-
Both our central midfielders were the best players on the pitch today, and the decision to leave Morgan on the bench was justified. Dean (as you'll see on other threads) was my MOTM, the best performance I've seen from him. He looked like he had a battery up his butt that was shocking him every five seconds, didn't stop running, looked knackered in the second half but I think Holmes coming on helped him keep going. This is how it should be, every Saints player fighting for every ball - it was a real captain's performance today - leading by example.
-
Hammond for me. Our midfield won us the game today, and Hammond just shades Chaplow. Chaplow got the goal, but Hammond's assist for it was amazing. He didn't stop running either. Jaidi and Chaplow run the vote close though, Jaidi was our best defender on the day. DEANO!
-
My thoughts exactly (see above). I also see Punch scored for Millwall today. Are our goals not big enough or something? ;-)

Just back from the game, gave the thumbs up to a grumpy looking Guly, getting in a taxi in the Total garage just before joining the M3, although I did get a thumbs up back from him. It was a scinilating performance, as I correctly, albeit flukely, predicted it would be in the build up thread. The only weak performance, although he did try, was Rickie up front. He still bustles about but just doesn't look like his sharp old self from last season. Everyone else though deserves a round of applause, it was a great day, even if it was fricking freezing. Davis: Didn't have a great deal to do, didn't look like he could do much about the goal, but his distribution and shot stopping was still good. 6 Richardson: Got forward once or twice and was solid defensively. Distribution was a bit off. 7 Fonte: Good header for the goal, little power but it trickled in there. Caught me by suprise, as I assume it did everyone. Solid defensively, although once or twice looked a tad suss. 7 Jaidi: Best defender on the day, a towering prescence and won every header I can remember. Could've scored twice had they been a bit more accurate. 8 Dickson: Very impressed, I like Harding but Dickson had a good game defensively and going forward. 7 Alex O-C: Was terrorising their defence early on, never looks phased about the step up he's had to make. Confident. Did drift out of the game, was rightly subbed to rest him. 8 Hammond: My MOTM. Chappers was probably most people's MOTM but Hammond was everywhere, and showed great coolness for the assist to Chapper's goal. 9 Chaplow: Almost as good as Deano, the goal should swing it but just misses out IMO. 9 Lallana: Good skills, good game. 7 Lambert: Still looks off form, but bustled well. 6 Barnard: Still my favourite player bar Harding, a well taken goal. 8 Subs: Gin Gin Guly: looks so lazy on the ball, but good flicks, and should have had a hattrick. 8 Holmes: Very impressed, a great cameo, should play his way back into first team favour. 9 Connolly: Little chance to shine. 6 Good subs made by Adkins, looking forward to Tuesday.

The missus and I will be at this one. Boobies on the match thread please. 3-1 Saints, scintillating performance.

Amy Williams and Caroline Wozniacki will do for me.

Gutted for Dan. My favourite player from last season, but he's been iffy this season. It makes not playing the League One left back of the year from last season even more puzzling. Just an off day today against an in form Carlisle side. The manager should also shoulder the blame, but did I expect to go through the rest of the season unbeaten? No. Learn from this and we'll be fine.

I thought he was bald... We could tell him Antonio'd make our first eleven fo' sho'. Bignall was cover. Thanks but no thanks.
