  1. If Gaston has become their best player and they are eulogising about him (which they are), then that rather says a lot about Boro and the standard of opposition in the Championship. I've seen comments like "Saints must be scratching their balls" etc and that Boro should sign him up ASAP. They seem not to be asking why he is on loan. He's doing well and has scored against Cardiff, Wolves, QPR and Huddersfield but that's not exactly your typical Premier League team.
  2. Do you think JWP would score against Huddersfield?
  3. I know it was a joke, but......Fair does to Warnock. 5 wins (inc Boro) and a draw in his last 6 and winning again tonight.I know it was a joke,
  4. Is this chap any good? Should we be signing him in the summer?
  5. If he leaves but stays in PL, then I guess it depends on whether other teams get rid of their manager or they leave. There are 3 clubs that realistically might - Arsenal, Everton and Spurs. Will those clubs need new managers? Spurs - probably not, but you never know who might come in for MP. Arsenal seem content with AW. Everton - if they win the FA Cup then Martinez might be OK, but he has been pretty underwhelming.
  6. It's up and running now.
  7. So why was he loaned to Hull? And also, why was is he on loan at Boro? 'He is not in the plans for the future of the club.' - RK. Are those really the words of someone who rates him?
  8. They didn't get the reception to their marvellous magnanimity that they expected so have gone back to the drawing board and are working out how much they are going to lower ticket prices for the rest of us. Well, wishful thinking!
  9. Why do people still think he could do a job for us? I watch him from time to time when there is nothing else on as he is still our player (just) and am interested to see how he get's on, but no way do I want him back. We've all waited and waited for him to come good, and he hasn't. If people want to look at things, look at his time at Hull. Squad: 25, Starting eleven: 11, Substituted in: 11, On the bench: 3, Suspended: 3, Injured: 4. Played a total of 984 minutes with 1 goal and 3 assists. For a play maker (and a bit of a luxury one) that really isn't good enough. His 4 goals and 2 assists in 10 games (774 minutes) for Boro shows that he is doing well at this level, even with some mediocre performances.
  10. Starting a bit early aren't they? Usually wait until a bit later in April if not May, don't they?
  11. And that there is the difference between us and clubs like Liverpool. They don't really need to take the risk to see if he cuts the mustard. If he comes good, then while it might cost them more, they can afford it, that is if another club doesn't get there before them.
  12. With Wenger saying that Wilshere should go to Euro16, I wonder if he will put him in the Arsenal side at all for the remaining games, or consider him not match ready?
  13. The problem with Spurs is that while they are a big club and would be one of the biggest in most leagues, here in England they have the 2 Manchester clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea and one if not two Liverpool clubs that are bigger than them. OK just one Liverpool (at present). But that still makes them 6th biggest fish in the pond (and something like 11th biggest in the world) and Poch wants to go to the top and Spurs just isn't the top, even if he wins the league this season. If he was given three times the salary (well it entices football players to move) and pretty much an unlimited budget and free hand in the academy, then why not move? He certainly doesn't owe Spurs anything.
  14. Anyone would have thought that the world didn't exist before the EU came into existence, whether it be football related or anything else.
  15. Before the internationals I had the usual optimistic outlook of the average football supporter whose team is doing OK. Now I am not so sure, so will sit on the fence.
  16. Top 6 - can't see it being the Manchester clubs. Nor Spurs or Liverpool. So that would leave Chelsea and Arsenal, unless a vacancy comes at Spurs. Chelsea like to go for people who have won something major and Conte seems to be being lined up for that, although nothing is confirmed. So that leaves Arsenal. Not sure Arsenal are going to get rid of Wenger - I guess they might. They seem to have been very patient so far. I guess I get a little bored of all these players and managers just wanting to use us as a stepping stone, rather than have the ambition to take us as a club forward (as opposed to go to an established one). But then, I presume that is why they come to us in the first place.
  17. Exactly. This Brexit and football scare story came out months ago. I guess it was aimed at those who are otherwise somewhat ambivalent towards the whole thing. My tuppence worth - there are rather more important considerations to take into account than who is going to play football for Southampton. As it is, does it matter if we have no over seas players? So long as the competition is good. Back when I first watched football in the mid 70s, I believe that we were allowed 2 overseas players (but happy to be corrected). I do not recall football being any less exciting. The big boys might start whinging that they won't be able to compete in Champions League, but so what?
  18. That reddit link is priceless. What ****ing planet is this guy on? Trying to create a rivalry with Liverpool?? Jog on. Also find it "amusing" given the amount of abuse Liverpool supporters gave him, that some like to forget that and blame Saints fans. As it is, anyone who gives out grief to someone's kids should get a good slapping, although no idea what actually happened, nor frankly do I care. As an aside, of all the players that have left us, Lovren seems to be the one that I like to see fall on his arse the most. Ambivalent at most about the others, including Poch. Good on him if he wins the league, he's a top manager (with a few shortcomings) just a shame that it will be with such an odious club. Players opening their mouths and putting both feet in it seems par for the course as footballers are generally not blessed with a huge amount of intelligence and the relentless pursuit of ever more money makes people do strange things. But Lovren still seems to be different. Maybe it was the fact that he was with us for one season, or maybe it was the complete and utter **** that emanated from his arrogant self aggrandising mouth when pushing for his move. Once a ****, always a ****.
  19. I can't understand the argument that some are bringing out about it being so small compared to TV money. If that is your argument, why then charge for tickets (although I personally would have advocated a reduction on all already over priced tickets). Seems that some have little idea how business works!! But say that it is inconsequential, rather than not having a fee paying shirt sponsor, why not have a paying shirt sponsor and subsidise tickets with that. 19 x 32,000 = 608000. Say you get £5m, that's the equivalent of £8.22 off every ticket or £156 off a season ticket. Or about 8.5% of the wage bill (2014/15 excluding the cost of cancelling contracts)
  20. France banned all alcohol advertising (at one stage, not sure about now) so when Liverpool were playing there (vs Marseille Sept 2008 Champions League), they couldn't have Carlsberg emblazoned across their chests. I know that adverts for alcohol cannot have anyone in that appears to be under 25, so no doubt there is something about it on kids shirts. Guess you could look at Everton and see what their junior shirts look like. EDIT - Here it is: http://evertondirect.evertonfc.com/stores/everton/en/products/kitselector/everton-home-kit-2015-16/261 Junior is blank, as is WBA's kids one http://www.wbashop.co.uk/WBA-HOME-SHIRT-CHILD-1516
  21. I care about how much we get. Not sure really why, as it makes not much difference to me, but I guess I don't like it that the "brand" is under sold while we still pay tip top prices. But I would temper that by not wanting to accept the money of a 1000% APR pay day loan company like Newcastle have. I believe Wonga used to have a top rate of 5850% but that has now dropped to a much more reasonable 1500% or so! I only brought Garmin up in the OP as it seemed strange that soon after Veho was announced, Garmin was announced as some bizarre partner and I thought that they would have made a better main sponsor (company size, local links, etc).
  22. I can't watch us on TV. Get too nervous and have to go out for a walk or something similar. But can sit happily through a game at a ground (except the Liverpool cup game).
  23. Non sequitur
  24. Who said that anyone liked it last year? Then don't pay and don't go - thousands don't on a weekly basis.
  25. Ah yes. I've just looked in the 15/16 box and there it is. On the back there is an exclusive 30% off a Garmin Vivofit. But I forgot to mention the biggest benefit of having a ST - the ST holder's monthly newsletter.
