Is this one of those threads that is supposed to start a "rumour" to see if the papers pick it up?

May have been filthy but it's a man's game and it has been too sanitised of late. Enjoyed that and thought the ref did well. The linesman should have got Dembele a red for the eye gouge. Chelsea - away at Sunderland, away at Liverpool, home to Leicester.

How has no one yet been sent off?

TBH this is what we all want to see when we watch football, so good on the ref for allowing it to be a man's game. Shame he missed certain things though. -

So it's 2-2 now. If we can't get a point off Palace at home when they have a FA Cup final around the corner, then we don't deserve it. -
If you don't trust the board, and don't like the way the club is run and how it plays, go buy a ticket somewhere else or maybe just stay at home and watch it on TV. The board works for the owner - we are captive customers. They know that. We know that. They do what they want, we suck it up and turn up week in, week out. ie I don't waste my time thinking about whether I trust the board or not.

This for me too. -
I do find it all a bit strange that we expect players to be with us for several years. I wonder what the average someone stays at a club is? Looking at our recent high level departures.... Lovren - 1 season Lambert - 5 seasons Lallana - 7 seasons Clyne - 3 seasons Morgan - 7 seasons Then there are the two youngsters Shaw and Chambers. Me, I see 3 seasons as being about what you can expect. Lovren doing 1 is obviously an exception and shows what a **** he is. Those from L1 days are also not how things usually work. Mané has done 2 so you hope to get another season out of him. Wanyama has done 3 seasons.

As usual, the Northam and the Kingsland/Itchen wings made the noise, but the Chapel was just that, like a Chapel. That was until we scored the 4th when the whole ground got going, and yes, it did sound great. The Centre stands are for older people who don't make so much noise, but it is the ends and wings that need to do it. The Northam + "their" 2 wings are fine. The other end of the ground is always disappointing, save for brief moments.

Yes. I was there but couldn't hear Jack S. However Kenzie in those tight grey trousers......!!!! Actually they were a bit too tight for her.

Just to point out, that while City might have made lots of changes, their starting XI cost something like £220m to assemble, plus the two subs used being another £20m odd

I though Gullit made an interesting comment on MOTD last week. He said he liked Long and the way he got behind players, but when teams park the bus, Pelle was the man to have.

The fans have been exonerated but the problem surrounding football at the time was very real. To have portrayed the fans on that day as done by the police was a wicked thing to do. And the worst bit of all to me was the accusation of looting off of the dead. I think it that particular lie that would have incensed me the most and I guess I would likely have spend half a lifetime trying to get the truth out. I was looking around and came across this article, which I made a similar presumption a couple of posts further up. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/jun/05/hillsborough-tragedy-barrister-police-football-hooliganism TBH it's quite hard to know what to believe and what not seeing as so many lies have been told, but I can understand that this may well have been a very real possibility.

The9, you are spot on that attitudes and behaviour were different. Heysel just 4 years before would have been fresh in the minds of many and I imagine when the police saw a big surge and a lot of shouting and the crowd behaving in a manner that they were unaccustomed with, that they may well have thought it was hooliganism rather than a huge crush from having far too many people. Now mentioning Heysel in context with Hillsborough seems to be a bit of a no no, yet I am not saying that Hillsborough was down hooliganism, just that there was a lot around at the time and that prior events might have had an influence on the reaction from the police. 1985 was also the year that Ken Bates erected a 12 foot high electric fence around Stamford Bridge, something that would be very alien in today's game. Not much had really changed by 1989. This in no way excuses the behaviour of those who covered up what they did or didn't do. To that end, I can well understand the desire of those affected to get justice. But I don't see why it has to be remembered every year by everyone else. I suppose we are going to play YNWA or have a minutes silence/applause before the game tomorrow. If so, why don't we ever do that for the 66 crushed at Ibrox or the 56 killed in the Bradford City fire or the 39 killed at Heysel (2½ weeks after Bradford)? Was there something last season to mark the 30th anniversary of Bradford? I do realise that it was important for those in Liverpool to keep it fresh in the public eye so that it wasn't forgotten and swept under the carpet but I am afraid to say that I feel that it is somewhat rammed down my throat. I was alive at the time (unlike many others) and can well remember both Bradford, Heysel and Hillsborough. I suppose the big difference is that with Ibrox, Bradford and Heysel people were held accountable and were handed custodial sentences. Anyway, I hope that the families of the 96 can find appropriate resolution to this and move on. 27 years of fighting to get to the truth is not what your life should be about. If only this had all happened and come out 25 years ago......

He sure can hit a ball. I know everyone was aghast at the thought that we might have tried to sign him, but he isn't a bad player.
-
Would like.... Burnley, Brighton, Hull Villa, Newcastle, Sunderland Unfortunately think one NE side will be staying up and the other replaced by another NE team.
-
Nordic, did you actually watch the game? I did and he really wasn't that good. The standard of the game, the space and time that he was afforded, was something that you really wouldn't get in the PL except maybe against Villa. OK, maybe he was better than many on the pitch, but you wouldn't reassess him and think he should be back in our team. He's been farmed out for the past 2 seasons, and a bit part the season before that, so he's not suddenly going to be a fit for us in the PL. Why people think he is, rather than seeing that he has dropped a level which is why he is prospering, is a mystery. You might look at Billy Sharp. Great player in Championship but couldn't cut it in PL.
-
The next five year plan has been presented to him and he has been asked whether he wants to undertake it. The question should really be, if he isn't interested in undertaking it and going to be off at the end of next season when his contract runs out, shouldn't we be looking for someone who does want to do it now, rather than wait a year?
-
Well I guess if he goes there for CL football, then he'll get 6 games unless he's suspended, and then what? I can't imagine they will finish top 4 next season, but who knows?
-
How about a really dim troll?

Have to agree with Lighthouse that with Levy, there seems to be a bit of revisionism going on. And even at some stage last season, there were calls for him and MP to go.
