  2. La Gran Muralla, as he is known in Spain.
  3. Gentlemen know how to keep their traps shut (and gentlemen and football is surely an oxymoron).
  4. Sure, but all I'm saying is that there are ways of doing it. All I need say is - Danny Ings. Do you hear him saying what Morgan and Clyne have been saying to the press about CL and trophies? No (at least I think not, but stand to be corrected). We all know that he isn't going to be at Burnley next season. He's doing it the right way. Maybe behind the scenes things are different, maybe they're not, but he is at the very least treating the supporters with respect by giving his all to Burnley and not talking about next season. Maybe I am of an age where I expect a higher standard. You say it's not unique to us, others say it's modern footballers, etc etc, but that really doesn't excuse poor behaviour. OK, Clyne has been relatively quiet until recently and Morgan has been far worse all season. It is just a common courtesy to your employers and, with football being a little different from other businesses, the supporters that you give your all, or the appearance, to the team. But the pursuit of (obscene amounts of) money and manners aren't easy bedfellows. "Manners are the basic building blocks of civil society" - Alexander McCall Smith, but then football is wholly detached from society, civil or otherwise, which is a sad indictment of so much money swilling around. Or on a personal level, as von Goethe stated, "a man's manners are a mirror in which he shows his portrait". Disappointing from certain players.
  5. We'll need to sign some English players as our Home Grown quota must surely be getting pretty low.
  6. No, that not the nature of top footballers, only some of them. As for people kidding themselves that he would stay, no one is doing so. I suspect that they are like me and would expect the player to conduct himself properly and have his head still at Southampton until the end of the season. Is that really too much to ask seeing as he is still contracted to us and the window doesn't open until July (or the end of the season or whenever it is)? Was this the reason he was benched vs Hull?
  7. Fine, but what I cannot accept is the disrespect players have for the club, their team mates and the supporters by doing all this when the season hasn't finished. It seems that over the past couple of seasons, we've turned out lots of players who don't know how to behave.
  8. Are AFCB on tv tonight, as I would rather watch them than the Champions League.

  10. Et voila.......... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3037578/Liverpool-2-0-Newcastle-Raheem-Sterling-Joe-Allen-Reds-Champions-League-race-Moussa-Sissoko-sent-off.html compared to our http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3034996/Southampton-2-0-Hull-City-Saints-slim-four-hopes-alive-Graziano-Pelle-ends-four-month-wait-Premier-League-goal-heap-misery-struggling-Tigers.html Amazing how 1 point changes it from a slim chance to still being in the race.
  11. LFC were shiite this 2nd half, but NUFC are even worse. An expected result.
  12. Lovren's pretty ****. How on earth did we get £20m for him???????
  13. Newcastle deserve to get relegated along with Sunderland.
  14. I've been listening to talkSport this morning. Liverpool have a chance if they win tonight, but we don't. So there.
  15. Not sure where I saw/heard it, but the order is 1. JWP 2. Tadic.
  16. Of course I don't think we will - I've been supporting Saints for the best part of 40 years and have an in built self-deprecating pessimism.
  17. If you are really optimistic then why not ask if we can catch United? After this victory vs City, they will be 9 points ahead. Their remaining fixtures... Chelsea (A) Everton (A) WBA (H) Palace (A) Arsenal (H) Hull (A) Would need us to go on a run, and them to lose against Chelsea and Arsenal (very possible), Palace (not unrealistic), Everton (who knows which team is going to turn up) as I doubt they would lose against Hull or WBA. Overly optimistic but funnier things have happened Right, time for a lie down! But City have WHU (H) Villa (H) Spuds (A) QPR (H) Swansea (A) us (H) In reality, who is going to give them problems? Spuds might but depends who turns up on the day. Swansea can hold their own, Villa are resurgent (maybe!), QPR fighting for their lives. Us? I don't think so. But you never know.
  18. we have to go there, not them come here.
  19. Would far rather ground share with them to the west than them to the east. Not fussed if we do or not, but if we do, then I would expect a huge amount of money. BUT, MLG states we don't need the money, but nor would B'mouth given the TV income.
  20. Have to be slightly realistic with things now, given that I can see the very real possibility that Hull won't get any more points, of them being for the drop. They've got Palace (A), Liverpool (H), Arsenal (H), Burnley (H), Spuds (A), Man Utd (H). Would be nice to think that they would do us a favour with Spuds and Pool, but really, that's not a nice run in and obviously the Burnley game is huge. I think they've gone. So 2 others. Leicester have some amazing games remaining - Swansea (H), Burnley (A), Chelsea (H), Newcastle (H), us (H), Sunderland (A), QPR (H). Taking us out of it, and really there is no reason why save for bias, they have 3 maybe 4 very winnable games. Sunderland are another team like Hull who might not get another point - Stoke (A), us (H), Everton (A), Leicester (H), Arsenal (A), Chelsea (A). Who knows what team is going to turn up and whether they have any fight in them what so ever. Watching MOTD yesterday and listening to some phone ins, they are hopeless and some of the fans want to get relegated so that they can start again (although not sure that ever works). So Hull, Sunderland, and then one of the 3 that came up. QPR - Chelsea (H), WHU (H), Liverpool (A), Man C( A), Newcastle (H), Leicester (A) Burnley - Everton (A), Leicester (H), WHU (A), Hull (A), Stoke (H). Villa (A) So on balance, to join Hull and Sunderland I would plump for QPR, and I would be happy enough with that.
  21. Will be interesting if Bmouth go up, as to whether Boruc will sign for them.

    MOTD

Ah, but at the moment, I would think that possibly Palace are better than us, so if they can "only" score 4 and us struggling with goals, I can't see anything like 8.
  23. Hmmm, Gazza. Not sure we'll be seeing much more of him. But KD, when FF went down, I groaned, but today, I looked at him and saw him as a bit of a rock at the back. My only concern is what happens if he get's injured.
  24. I look forward to Irene's comments on how **** KD is and how Koeman and Saints ****ed up by letting his/her boy go. But pettiness aside, so so pleased that KD has had a part to play. Some might have forgotten that he could easily have left us for WHU when we went into admin but he chose to stick around. He could quite have easily done a Boruc and refused to stick around to warm the bench. As it is, some top class saves, 1 goal conceded in 3 games. A dodgy kick or two, but some top class saves. Is he due a testimonial at all?
  25. I was born in Boscombe, live half way between B'mouth and Soton (well actually closer to B'mouth) but the family has always been involved with Saints.
