  1. Was the shambles of the light show, why the teams weren't shown on the big screens?

    Attendance

They base it on tickets sold, not the number through the turnstile. So if you have a ST but don't turn up, that still counts.
  3. Shurlock, he covered a lot of ground last night. But what might be my imagination playing up... he seems to have gained a bit of pace. Not saying he is quick, but just a wee bit quicker.
  4. The bloke next to me tried to say something and I just had to hold my hand up and tell him to wait until the PA had finished deafening us. I'm way up at the top, so maybe the sound reverberates more up with the roof being closer, but I couldn't hear him shouting at me from a few inches away. The fire and light show, the half time bit (I won't call it entertainment, as that would be a misnomer), the volume of the PA were all mickey mouse. (More import of course were the 3 points) On balance I would bring back the relay, but with changes. Why can't they make it that it is a group of kids, say, 5-10 years old vs a group from the opposition?
  5. I know it's not a very important thing, but even by the pizz poor standards that we usually endure, WTF was that tonight? Asinine and the bloke doing the commentary would be better suited doing a 3 year old's birthday party.
  6. One might point to our neighbours down the M27/A31/A338 and look at their signings... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/startseite/wettbewerb/GB1 Hence why their market value (of players) is somewhat higher than ours... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/afc-bournemouth/transferrekorde/verein/989
  7. Fair goal IMO, although if a Geordie I would imagine thinking otherwise. Goalies overly protected and hardly that much contact.
  8. Southampton Football Club can confirm that two fans were detained and had their details taken by police during our match against Cardiff City on Saturday. The Club will continue to work with Hampshire Police to identify any individuals deemed to have made indecent gestures towards Cardiff supporters. Such behaviour has no place in our game and will not be tolerated at St. Mary’s. The club will be taking an extremely firm stance against anyone involved and intends to ban those supporters identified.
  9. Not sure asset stripping is correct. Certainly we were overly self sufficient. We sold good players (mostly) at good prices. That money was the only money that went in to the team. That is apart from that going for training ground improvements + interest. TBH I have no problem with the club being run as a business. People were mad talking about Marcus' legacy - his legacy was to his daughter, and it netted her a £200m profit (while retaining 20% of the club). The insincere BS from her about doing the best for the club was something she really shouldn't have wasted her time doing, but hey, £200m is £200m. A good investment. The new fella, I have no idea about. Before people say that there is no reason to have my hand held by him, I do think he could come out and tell us what the plans are, what the situation is. He didn't even say well done to the team for pulling it around at the back end of last season and surviving. Nothing about the new season. Nothing about the new manager. Nothing. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. It does look like we are a bit ducked.
  10. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6686355/Two-Southampton-fans-arrested-making-plane-gestures-following-death-Emiliano-Sala.html Some people have a very strange idea of what acceptable banter is.
  11. He seems to fall over a lot.
  12. He was gash, apart from one good first touch with an over the top ball in 2nd half. Austin really should be ahead of him.
  13. Hopefully Utd won't blow a 2-0 lead. Fulham look a bit dangerous on the attack, but their defence.....!
  14. Fulham could/should have scored twice in the first 3 minutes
  15. Sharp hat-trick (with 30 mins to go)
  16. Old Billy Sharp got another tonight, albeit a bit of a fortunate 2nd, and still 35 minutes to go.
  17. Martin Samuel has a piece today, where he states "Nantes have put in their bill for the first part of the payment, because they owe Bordeaux a sell-on fee, plus a queue of agents their cut. Cardiff insist they will pay no fees — the first instalment is usually due seven days after any deal is completed — until the investigation into the crash is over." He then correctly goes on to question what investigation, and that it might take a long time. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6679785/No-sport-treats-fans-contempt-football-supporters-not-idiots.html It is a tricky time, but the world doesn't come to a stop because of this tragedy. Nantes are in a tricky position of a richer club coming in and buying their best player and seemingly now refusing to pay, leaving them with liabilities owing to other parties. One might almost suspect that Cardiff didn't have their paperwork in order with their insurance company.
  18. 2 for QPR

    Yoshida

Would be a little surprised if he starts on Saturday
  20. Is it? Was Clyne/Cedric ideally wanting to move or stay?? And look at it for what it is - one left a European giant to go to a small provincial club on the south coast, and the other left a small provincial club on the south coast to go to a European giant.
  21. Maybe Clough shouldn't have been such a ****** towards us when he was a Sheff Utd (when they beat us in the cup).
  22. As a "neutral" in this, I do find the treatment handed out to differing managers to be pretty poor in its consistency. If Maureen had said that, he would be keel hauled. When Kiopp says it, nothing happens at all - it's da passion innit?! I do like Pellegrini's comments though. That Klopp is used to beating him with offside goals and that he was happy to help City (being ex boss). But fair does to Liverpool. They usually chuck it away before New Year. This year it might be February, or can they last long enough to win it??
  23. I dislike the Hammers quite a bit, but do hope that they win tonight. I fear it is already lost.
  24. Well in fairness, the lino was a long way away!!!!!!
  25. Here's an interesting article from2017 and each clubs' brightest prospects. Some have made it. some haven't (yet) https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/11/17/clubs-exciting-youth-prospect/
