  1. Arsenal in the mix too seemingly https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/786034/Arsenal-Liverpool-transfer-news-Southampton-Matt-Targett despite the source, would be good to get a bidding war going - anything over £10M would be a bonus
  2. Should have gone to Specsavers

Very much hope to be proven wrong, but for me he will not be one of our successes. Hammy at a young age. Attitude questioned by Ralph. Very stiff in upper body. Raw speed but very little else (so far).
  4. What's with the cloak and dagger here? If there is a payment clause for winning the Euro's what's the big secrete? More BS about "look at me look at me" i'm in the know!

ok, you are obviously privy to inside info not many people have, so if true I bow to your greater wisdom/knowlege

    Gao FT article

No we haven't (other than maybe a short term over draft). Gao borrowed money personally to buy us - which is different. All depends on what he used as security, and despite all the usual BS on here, no one knows other than Gao, his inner circle and the bank in question. Seldom can you use the asset you are buying as security (I am buying a house worth £500K, so lend me £500K as security against that - let's see how far you get?) Also, he cannot simply transfer said loan to the club as many on here seem to believe. We are an asset and if Gao defaults, someone will step in and buy us - probably on the cheap and make a great return - ala Liebherr (both)

In case you missed it in the article - "club’s profits, which were £28.6m last year" By all means hate Cortese, though it does help your point of view if you base it on actual facts. We are not in debt now - maybe we were when Cortese left (arguable). New owner does not want to speculate to accumulate, which is entirely his right as he stumped up the money (from wherever) to buy us. Let it go - Cortese left years ago and is not influencing our club now.

    Gao

Me neither, but curious as to why he bought the club in the first place though? Best I can assume was that he was trying appease the former views of the Chinese leader, but those changed after he bought us and so now left with a very unpopular gift (bit like paying a fortune for a "Jim will fix it" gold medal prior to discovering his hidden secrets - now no one wants to admit owning one let alone trying to sell it). All very strange. Maybe Kat has some interesting photo's of him?
  9. Have Longie and Ings swapped bodies???
  10. Naw Horllicks, we just bottle it at the end when we are winning/drawing - defend too deep and invite pressure when the opposition has nothing to lose (and more often than not opp throw on extra attackers, and we do the opposite). We should just stick to our normal game plan, which got us in the winning position in the first place. Sure players tire, but that applies to both sides. We need more balls (confidence if you like) to see out a game. Inflict more pain rather than retreat. Interestingly, more often than not if we are losing in the same period, we seem to up our game. So surely, it is not a fitness issue, rather a mental block? Watford was a perfect example, we are ahead inside 10 secs (no one expected that) and instead of pressing home our advantage and going for the jugular we slowly let them back in - yes we played well and should/could have got more (Longie should have got a second for sure), but it was somewhat tame. Eventually with 15 to 20 mins left it was almost a psychological conditioning that we were weakening, and so it proved. Players need to toughen up - physically RH seems to have managed, mentally - not so sure
  11. This is indeed the case. Question then is why Carry was co-commenting a Liverpool game? Fine, we all know he is a bin dipper but don't need to hear a totally one side commentary - stay in the studio and cream over them at half/full time. Same as I would not want an ex Saints player co-commenting for very same reasons.
  12. No not all. Sky should however have a neutral commentator if possible for the enjoyment of all, and as a responsible broadcaster. Even Tyler was hardly neutral to be fair. As for Matt (and others), yes they cheer their team, but they are not spewing a completely biased commentary throughout the game, and why they do not view their "own" teams. I for one would like to make up my own mind on the game (and yes I could turn off the sound, but why do I need to?) BTW neither would I want Matt etc. to comment on the game for the same reason. Still I guess each to his own
  13. Having been an admirer of him, have to say he needs to move on. He is not a good fit for us unfortunately, and we are not for him. I am sure he will do well elsewhere - possibly a high Championship side. We moved on Gabbi, so do we really think Sam is better? Keeping him on gives fans, club and Sam false hopes and prevents the path for other potential academy hopefuls. Best option for all sides IMHO.
  14. Doh - maybe brain is still fecked! Meant kicked in
  15. Sadly didn't get to watch it - got jumped by about 60 Leeds thugs in Milton Road and there were 4 of us. Got a right going over, passed out and woke up in hospital hours later. Apparently an elderly Leeds couple stepped in when I was getting my head licked when out cold on the street or could have been a lot worse. For years afterwards I would pass out for no apparent reason - doc's never found anything despite lots of investigation. Needless to say no one "saw anything" and no arrests. Did try to find the couple (to thank them) but failed. Glad to say all is well now, and certainly don't miss those days.
  16. Would like to say we were unlucky, but can't really. We were really poor. Sad sad day for a Saints fan!
  17. Like all your posts then?
  18. What a load of crap - we deserve to go down. Absolute joke! All our own fault

  23. Good God there is so much BS about our finances on here! Suddenly everyone is an accountant. Gao can run the club as he wants as it's his (most of it anyway) but for the love of god, stop this BS about how broke we are. When you sell to a private investor, it's entirely up to him what he does with his investment. F'all we can do about it as fans - sure he has to meet some FA and financial requirements but nothing on player investment etc. SFC are not broke. Gao is not broke. Owner decides (rightly) where the money goes. Only thing that has been said so far is all player sales will be reinvested in new players, wages and agent fees etc. Fair enough - what has not been said (and as a private investor, no obligation to do so) is how the rest of the income will be treated (TV money, match day income, sponsorship, other commercial income - which was the the main reason Ralph 1 was brought on board). BTW, for the obvious wages counter - official figures are our wages are around 60% of turnover. I do not by any means believe additional revenues are being siphoned off by our new owner, but it does beg the question why are we so poorly run financially? Before we get the usual BS about long contracts, agents fees, paying for loaned players, staged payments, etc. etc. that is naive - we had already factored that in, we have same arrangements with other clubs/transfers, and all clubs have the same issue. So obvious question (if all above is true) is do we have a crap financial controller and if so is that the first change we need (no transfer deadline here!). In any case something does not stack up - maybe it's time to turn the heat on our CFO?
  24. True that! But then I am happy to admit I am indeed odd, unlike some on here :-)
