This certainly is a possibility when you consider (and yes before the wise asses jump on, I am only going by the main concusses in the media etc., which is generally not far off the mark in the final analysis) the main issue is the timing of when KL wants to sell the club - not if! The BBC article suggests that KL offered a ridiculous amount of money for NC to stay on until then, and who knows the new owners might have kept him on at the same package? Why then would NC resign, instead of sitting it out earning a huge sum and getting a potential large payoff if the new owners got rid - particularly if he was a money crazed power freak as some would have us believe?? For me he either has much better offers elsewhere, or indeed is trying to assemble a bid himself with new investors - he may be arrogant and stubborn but he is not stupid particularly where money is concerned! Indeed if he matched KL's asking price, who better to sell the club to? No lengthy due diligence, most staff would be retained, no issue with PL fit and proper persons etc. etc. And may be KL's way of one final thank you for making his father's wishes come true?? BTW, in my view the camp that believes KL has the money and so will invest to take us to the next level are very much mistaken (that's what NC wanted, so why would he leave?). KL will sell to the first bidder that matches her demand, and the rest is a gamble that we do not need after where we have been in the last few years! I, for one would have been very happy with a few years of upper mid table PL "boredom" !!

At £30M it's a no brainer - sell him! Yes he's a great prospect but by no means a "worldie" by a long way, and who knows if he will indeed fulfil his true potential? For £30M you could get 2 to 3 outstanding additions to the team

But he didn't did he? Too many nearly men in every team. Maybe we should go for Hart instead, but not convinced he is consistently better than AB or that there is not better value out there in the goal keeping stakes. JP wanted to go for personal reasons, and fair play to Saints for letting him do that - would have been easy to say no, and I doubt we are getting much compensation from CP if any, and certainly not enough to pay for his back up in the squad. I honestly believe this is the compassionate and loyal side of NC that does get enough credit, and what helps in bonding the players (i.e. at Saints we take care of our own, even if it is not always in the best interest for the club). Also, why would JP want to come back (and we have an unhappy bunny) unless his personal circumstances have changed?

Maybe consider it at £30M+ On a side note, ML only paid £15M for the whole club and stadium (yes ok he funded more since), but just shows how far we have come to recoup the initial stake by "potentially" one player!!!!

This - I think were he not a product of our youth set up, and "a shining example" of the Southampton way, he would be keeping Billy company! Also why he is captain in my view. I would dearly love for him to work out, but just can't see it.

Because he was so much more effective than what we had before! He provided the only really quality passing to the front men. My question would be why did he not start, or at the very least come on at half time?

Very poor gamefrom us - yes we had enough chances to win but we were poor! What happened to our pressing game?? Seems West Ham were much better than us atit – they closed us down early, so we resorted to the long ball far too oftenand simply no good at it – credit where it is due, in defense WH were very good. WH packed themidfield and pressured our full backs from playing their natural game – much asI hate to admit, it was tactically very good on BFS’s part. Why we had twoholding midfielders in that game is beyond me – WH were only ever going toscore a very lucky goal. VW was uttercr*p, and gave away the ball more times than I could count – he is a real enigma– outstanding man mountain for the first two games, and complete opposite thenext two. Should have been replaced after the first 30 mins in my view. Why oh why isJWP not starting – he is the only one providing any decent crosses?? I wouldhave had JWP starting ahead of VW, particularly in home games – why have wegone so risk averse?? Sorry but forme SRL and Ossie cannot be in the same team – thought SRL was poor today, andif MP does insist on playing them together – SRL has to be in the hole, andOssie up front. Last 20 mins,we should have gone 3 at the back and added JC in midfield and really pushedfor the win – not brave enough. Guess the top 4 / CL project will have to waitfor another year at least.

Easy for me - yes! Osvaldo replaces SRL as lone ranger, SLR replaces JR as wide / hole man. JR needs to improve to get in, and / or makes impact from bench.

Not sure if Icount in your definition Sentry? I now live near Dublin for the past 14 years,and try and get a few games every year – although last year was getting harderto get tickets. Originally I lived in Southampton and had no real interest inwatching Saints as a nipper, but some friends dragged me to a 3rd roundFA cup game at the Dell in 1976, when as I recall a certain H Fisher equalisedin the dying seconds of the game! What a year to start supporting the Saints Been hookedever since and for a number of years went to every home and away game – watchedsome great games and players, and even got to know one or two players. Had two academyplayers as lodgers at different times (had a flat in Stoneham Lane) – sadly neithermade it big time! At least peoplein Ireland don’t think I am bonkers supporting Southampton any more – stock answerwas always, “WHO?”, or why don’t you support a proper team?

You just can't help yourself can you? You ask a question - "who are these people that don't post ..." - well I answered to show I am one of those people (my choice, my opinion, and in case it passed you by, my contribution!), but then you have to go and argue your own question - unbelievable? I rather suspect this is tongue in cheek – but I can never tell these days??? For the record, that is not what I said (or rather meant). I would happily contribute, if it was related to Saints and football in general, however I have no interest whatsoever in being the “king of the mong boards”, and frankly find the whole thing very childish and a bore. Also, I don’t have time to be on here as often as some people seem to have – not an issue, just an observation.

Me for one! Not just because of you, but generally this board seems to be a dull and boring place for a small minority of people, who seem to get off on "being the big I am" on an online forum, and the mods seem happy for this to continue. So I have a look now and again for Saints and football related items, which seems to be getting less by the day, instead of feeding the growing popolation of trolls on here.
