No. For a start it is highly unlikely! More importantly do we need a loan striker to improve for someone else?? There is no way he would sign permanently, and for the money it would cost not sure it would be either value for money or our priority. JRod is only getting an occasional game, Lee and Myuka are not figuring at all and Billy is on loan, never mind trying the promising youth! Why on earth would we want to develop a forward for one of our rivals at considerable cost to ourselves, whilst at the same time depriving one of ours to breakthrough? Would be different if we were in a lower division and MU picked up most of the wages.

Proof?? You are such an unbelievable troll in reality! We bought an international defender, a promising young right back, two keepers, and failed in at least one known high profile central defender - what more do you want?? And how did GR "acquisition" prevent any of this?? Why don't you go and support your perfect team instead of bleating how bad Saints are at every opportunity. I for one am very happy with my beloved Southampton and have been so for the nearly 40 years I have had the pleasure and privilege of supporting them. CYOR's Honestly Alps, take a day off - don't be a "See you next Tuesday" all your life!

Yes Bo played well for much of the game and certainly won us the game with some great saves, but he did flap early on and we were really lucky it his parry (when it was easier to catch the ball) did not fall to a Villa player - otherwise it was a certain goal. One or two other occasions early on as well when he looked very iffy! Even the commentators on the stream I was watching commented on it. Hopefully it was just confidence / nerves and the rest of the performance will help that? In any case we need to pick one keeper and stick with him - Bo seems the best of what we have right now.

why do people fuel this clown - just don't rise to the bait! If he get's no notice, he will wither away!

The world is neigh!!!! We are doomed – the Mayan’s were right after all, and we are eternally fooked – good job I watched my fair share of games (win/lose/draw/some hard to tell?) whilst we didn’t implode! Implosion would be a new experience and we have certainly danced around with the concept a few times, but at the end of the day not sure I would want to experience that, after nearly 40 years of following my only team. We are simply the best - maybe not in terms of absolute achievement, but for a so called “fashionable family” club, we are holding more than our own and will get there in time – just have belief and patience.

Lambert is (and will be against Villa) great if he gets the delivery, or someone to feed off his knock downs in the box, but utterly wasted (in the current set up) when he drifts deep or wide to retrieve the ball or otherwise in-order to get involved. Lambert is not the problem - it's getting the rest of the team playing to his best attributes, and now that AL is out of the team, it should not be too difficult to figure out who to set the game plan around???

OK if our management are that incompetent, then which other club has achieved this simple task? Other then the massively inflated Sturridge move (I am sure we would have got all of our targets in the summer twice their market value!), I would love know who has out executed us, and where we have missed out?
-
What a boring and uninformed comment ("Janaury" ??) ! Targets were identified in the summer (failed with keeper and high profile CB), and renewed again in this window, but just because we want a player, their current side will not roll over, no matter what we offer! They will play the game and get as much as they can, whilst lining up their replacement etc. etc. Don't see too many other major transfers done yet by the bigger/smarter clubs, so I guess we are not the only mugs?? BTW - as you are such an expert, why don't you apply for transfer specialist at the club - would be genuinely delighted if you could get all our first choice transfers done within the first ten days of the transfer period - really would be! Personally, I think this self imposed transfer window (by footy authorities) is just plain daft (in Parkinson speak), and may even be in breach of EU free trade practice - I am sure someone will challenge it sooner or later as per Bosman case.

agree completely ...... it's all about perspective
-
compared to the start of the season, we are on a good run, just need get on an even better run!
-
I can see a short term loan cover for Jose being drafted in PDQ
-
I am happy to pay €205 myself if we can land him (not €205M however!!!!)
-
Personally think the Boruc non selection is not football ability related - IMHO he did something to really **** off the "big boys" - just hope hope the "big boys" can accept due credit if we fail t stay up?
-
KD is clearly not the answer to our goalkeeping problems - love him to bits, however apart from the said goal, he flapped on another 3 occasions where they should have scored, and simply does not inspire confidence in the rest of the defense. NA being a former GK must realise this? This is our key priority to resolve in the Jan transfer window IMHO. Think Gazza is not fully fit and there are some off the field issues still unresolved with Boruc? Need to sort it soon if we hope to stay up!
-
Much as I hate to say it, think you're wrong with WH! They might not be a flair team as per "The Southampton Way" (whatever that means !!), but just look at the table and it is obvious they are much better than us - at staying in the PL. They will stay up very comfortably IMHO, whereas we will struggle until the very end, but hopefully still stay up.
-
Agreed. Thought he was poor today, and like most of the team gave away a lot of "easy" passes. Poor today - like most of the team - struggling to think who played well for us today really - Kelv is the best I can come up with, mainly for his desire to attack at the end
-
Probably cos he does not fit in to the Southampton Way, and will be leaving us in January.Oh and he's not that good any more! Can see us signing another keeper in January.

Sunderland (h) 3 Fulham (a) 0 Stoke (a) 0 Arsenal (h) 3 - feel it in my bones, we will do them! (I hope!) Villa (a) 1 - hardest one to call for me, we could win but then so could they - this one is about who lady luck favours on the day in my view

Thank you Dalek. This game is all about opinions, which is the beauty of it for me. How dull it would be if we all had the same view or worse if it all panned out as the so called pundits predicted – we would already be in Championship by now I still maintain AL was poor until recently, and only suggested him being dropped for a game or two, or relieving him of the burden of captaincy to improve his form, fortunately as I said I was wrong and he really kicked on and has been on fire the last month and will naturally be missed. My point was not to diss AL, but merely to illustrate that we coped with an out of form AL in early season, so why can’t we cope without him for a few games now? Of course I want the inform AL to continue playing, but sadly he cannot. BTW Dalek, I am more of an observer rather than a poster, but I do view your posts with interest – don’t agree with all, but I do think you have a point with a missed opportunity with the return of Glen , although not now as I am fully behind NA.

It wasn't bizarre at all at the time he was playing poorly! And I wasn't the only one (not that it matters to me) - there was a very long thread on it - don't have the time to look through it, or have endless arguments for the sake of it as some seem to on here. However this is a formum for opinions, and I have mine - just live with it - I am not asking you or anyone else to agree with it. I can respect views I don't agree with - and guess what, I am human and so prone to being wrong at times. As to who my replacement for AL would be, I suggest you re-read my original post - there might just be a subtle clue for you there!
-
We really have short memories on here! Only a month ago, a lot of people (including myself) said AL was very poor so far this year (and he was), and that he should be dropped for a while to see if he could sort himself and his form out. Admittedly he has been playing really well of late, and will be missed and of course no one wants to lose any player through injury, however, on the performance of all bar the last month, not sure he will be quite the unmitigated disaster that some would like us to believe! Who knows, it might even give someone else a chance to prove themselves – TL?? Anyway, get well soon AL!

Ha Ha - very good, excellent sumay :-)
-
Cork without a doubt - we have really missed him in early season. He is the difference in us being more solid at the back - gives so much potection and time to the back four. We have always scored, but the change is we have plugged the hole in defence. Well done Cork - already my man of the season - please please do not get injured again this season!
-
Also - what happened about the directive to give forwards the benefit of the doubt? Not just us tho - Liverpool also robbed (not that I care about them)
