  1. If this is not a windup - you have some serious issues - I strongly suggest you ask your GP for human MOT (not joking - been through it with good friends before)
  2. Sharp took Donny's pens - wonder if there will be a bit of competition for Ricky? Probably not but good to have another option in that dept too :-)
  3. Believe Cork can also cover as CB if required - great to have options!
  4. Respectfully I do not agree. Since day 1, ML and NC have always stated we would be run as a sound business and if anything I believe NC has spectulated more than he wanted (in IMHO before anyone asks). Look at the recent independant financial blog which confirms this. Of course NC wants promotion this year, but not at all costs - build steady and positive progress on a sound foundation, and not the Burley erea with s hit or bust - and we all know how that ended! Will be mighty mifffed if we don't get promoted this year, but after a summer of reflection wil be glad I still have a club to support and one on a sound financial footing :-)
  5. Agree with this - however what really concerned me was that we did not seem up for it as much as them! OK we have a lot of players out etc. and we can't win every game etc., but it seems they did their homework and watched the Brizzel game and pressed us high up the field and we could not cope. They had 17 goal attempts and more game time. As dissapointed as I am about lossing, the real bitter pill was we did not seem to try hard enough. You would think that the players who got an opportunity as a result of missing players would have really taken this chance via effort if nothing else? We were clearly poor and deserved to lose (sad to say but true), and as has been mentioned above it's not the first 11, but the rest of the squad that is not up to it - NA clearly knows that from his comments. Tough one - how do you keep a strong and motivated squad esp when they are not playing? We better learn real quick as all teams (starting with Cardiff) will adopt the same tactics.
  6. What often gets overlooked is that when a player under contract is sold (not sure about loaned TBF), the selling club has to pay the full contract wages, so if JP is sold we still have to pay the rest of his wages for the contract period. So just maybe outstanding contract wages, agent commission, other unknowns (maybe we agreed to pay relocation fees, compensating for wife/partner's job, etc. etc.) means the "supposed" £650K is not even breakeven for us??? Players contracts are a minefield and we simply don't know the details - don't forget AP signed him and at the time he was in demand.
  7. What kind of complete toss pot are you????? Do you want us at the brinkadministrationtion again?? Not so long a go we were looking at the Blue Square Leg as the best option. I for one amcloudould 9 that we are still in business, never mind top of the CL. Yes would love promotion, but rather we have a club first!
  8. So the puzzle for me is that at home (where we are excellent – 100% record) is where you expect teams to park the famous bus and frustrate the living day lights out of us – which happens and we overcome! Now at away matches, teams are generally more open (agreed not always, etc.) and so in theory should suit us better? I think this is largely all in the mind – we are too hung up about away matches! How else can you explain that we beat everyone at home – big teams, small teams at ease, and same team fails away?? Part of the reason we are doing so well this year is our winning habit – wonder if the losing away habit is playing on some of our players minds? Certainly in the last few games our home and away results have been chalk and cheese – what’s the reason/difference ?? NA would get a better night’s sleep if this can be fixed. Still, all said – very happy as we are still top of the league!
  9. Trust the lobotomy is going well? If not not don't worrry you won't rememeber a thing soo.............................
  10. Maybe, maybe not - personally I think Harry is the old school, and with that the biggest chancer going. However, ignoring all that, we need vision, long term planning, modern ideas, and energy within England management, and a 65+ year old is not that. There are plenty of great young / youngish English managers (one very close to home) who are, and that has to be the right foundation if we are ever to achieve anything significant again - sure it might take a few years to get there, which is why we need someone who can develop in to the role over a few years (ala Fergie at Manure when he first started). After all you cannot buy success at international level (such as Man****ty), so you have to build - hardly think anyone at 65+ (even without an iffy ticker) fits the bill somehow?
  11. Firstly just want to say happy with a lucky point, and delighted to be top. Due to being abroad I have not seen Saints too many times this season, but it appears we had a bad day at the office! However we did not do ourselves any favours - tactically Reading pi**ed all over us - their energy and closing down was amazing all over the pitch. They exploited the gaps left by our full backs pushing forward to perfection. They quite simply sussed our style of play and we did not really have a plan B (I know we tried the long ball to RL - but only about twice). This all changed after the sending off (lucky it wasn't two) - the team kicked up a gear, and I am sure if there was more time we would have won it even with 10 men. So this says we more than had the wherewithal to comfortably beat Reading, and we were just not up for it as much as they were - mix of complacency, wrong tactics and lack of work rate in view. Sure we missed AL, but we won without him on Tuesday because we were up for it. We better learn to deal with these tactics as most home teams will deploy them - I am sure we can, and Nig is hopefully sorting it as we speak!
  12. Why are you such a "See You Next Tuesday"? Good god enjoy the moment if you know how????
  13. Hear hear !!!!!! Well said that man!

    After 10 games

Really??? Bit of an oxymoron if you ask me! Jeez why can't people be happy with the unbelievable start we have made????? I am "over the moon" and then some!!! Be honest who in reality expected us to be top after 10 games (certainly not me) - would have settled for 4th from bottom. An ex (and very respected) boss once told me that no matter what the situation, people would always find some negatiavtity and have a moan - how true!
  15. I meant I have no idea what you are trying to say! If however you mean Liverpool would never appoint someone who has never managed a top 6 PL side and won major honours - try looking up their previous history - start with a certain Roy H someone!
  16. Err - can I have a pint of what you are drinking?
  17. Good God give the OP a break! This is a discussion forum after all, and I see no negativity in his question at all, rather a good point to speculate in-between match days. Stranger things have happened and there will be many clubs keeping a close eye on Nig, and he may move for a number of reasons we are unaware of (MO wanted to stay close to the Midlands due to personal reasons for example, when Man U were apparently after him). Also as a manager (non footy) one of my main tasks is succession planning – who could replace me or one of my managers, their workers etc. as anyone could leave or GFB (God For Bid) die etc. etc. Fail to plan = Plan to fail. Trust me NC will have a succession plan A, B and possibly C. For the record I was and am very happy with NA, and believe he will stay for another 4 to 5 years and will be one of our better managers. However that is no reason on not speculating – is this any worse than speculating about Owen, O’Neil, Hasbeen (sorry, Bridge, JB) etc.
  18. 7 wins, 21 points - simple as that!!!!
  19. Red

    Oxy's first game

On the positive side he played - which I was surpised by. On the negative side I think he looked very average at best, and couldn't have done his confidence much good? Tough one - don't blame him for trying to better himself, but maybe a season or two longer with us would have been better preparation? Can't be easy going from hero to zero in quick time!!! Maybe he should get group therapy with Gaddafi :-)
  20. It's all about opinions - that's what makes this a great game! For some light humour see
  21. Shilts was class no doubt - what I meant was that was that Shilts probably had his best period whilst at Notts F, where as IMHO Neimi had his best spell with us. Also in terms of how each of them played and more importantly achieved for us (Saints) then it's a close call but I think AN just edges it. Close call, and just my view and all that - wouldn't mind either of them back - in their prime of course (which with Shilton was not with us - that's all).
  22. Seen them all very regularly, and for me Niemi by a country mile! Others were/are excellent as well but I feel we saw the best of Niemi whilst at Saints (may also be true for Davis, but with all due respect he is not better than the big Fin). BTW - reminds me of the Scottish radio caller about Neimi and whether he was Scottish / "Finished" etc. - LMFAO - still laughing now thinking about it - anyone still have the link - absolute classic !!!!
  23. FWIW I thought Lambert (apart from set pieces) played more as a midfielder - too deep and being the provider rather than the target man. He had a good game all the same but not in his usual position - we don't need another midfielder. Can't expect midfield (inc AL) to score every game - is this why we might be going all out for a new striker?
  24. Listen, no I mean listen, I mean really listen - are you seriously listening? :-)
  25. This is precisely what is wrong with the great game today! Let's be honest - no one has a clue as to what has been the real issue with Mr. P, other than he has massively f**ked off our manager and CEO. Do you really think we would treat an obvious talent like this unless he really messed up big time?? No one player is bigger than the club, and Mr. P I guess does not want to play my our rules - which is fine by me
