Yes there were - we just had the luck on side for a change (Gazza kick out in first half - almost identical to Swansea). Anyway - Just how good was that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were just fab!

Can't see it myself - but then what do I know? I totally trust in NA as an ex keeper, but not a great track record so far!

Give it a rest - behave !!!!

Thought half term was last week?

Thought AL was really poor – particularly for a captain! In fact I think he has been poor for a few games, and about time he was dropped at least for a game or two. You have to feel sorry for Fox – one mistake and they score. Overall I thought he had a good game, but was left exposed too many times, particularly by AL – who incidentally made at least 6 major mistakes and got away with it! No excuse for the 2nd goal, but it was really well over by then anyway. Ramirez was clearly not ready/fit enough and consequently very poor, and should have been substituted at half time. Rodriguez was played supposedly in his favoured position and was rubbish – did he withstand a single challenge? Lambert was very average. Most of the rest were very average as well, apart from Clyne who I thought was our MOM – superb in attack and defense, and Gazza was solid and assured. Have to agree with previous posters in that Gary N was spot on with our analysis (including comments about sticking with NA) – can we get him in as a “special consultant” for a few weeks? League positions seldom lie and right now we are the poorest team in the PL by a country mile – just hope and pray that changes soon!

Adkins Interview On Whether The Club have Given Him Any Assurances
Red replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
+ 1. I would like us to stick with Nig, even if it means relegation (which is not certain by any means). All it means is we start again but with more experience this time. Sure it might take more than one year to get back up, but have people really forgotten where the tactic of getting rid of a manager every 5 minutes got us last time? How would MU have done all these years if they sacked SAF in his first poor year? -
About the same as your constant and repetitive moans! If we are such a shambolic team, why don’t you go and bore … support another team?

Our very own X Factor drama queen!

Bet he is not now! Granted Fox is not great at PL level and we did try to get a better LB in but failed, however Fox currently is better than WB. Why else is he at the bird shi.tt.ers and not at a higher club? BTW - just shows the unpredictable nature of professional footballers – not that many years ago, there was nothing to choose between WB and AC as to the best England LB, but now they are worlds apart – so what happened? Whatever you think of them, you really have to hand it to the true professionals that maintain the highest of standards throughout their entire careers (Giggs, Bally etc.)

Woking as I was on the doorstep, and now Bray Wanderers since moving to Ireland who are also on the doorstep in Irish (rural) terms :-) Certainly adds some perspective to our situation when compared to "minor local" teams.

And you know this how? Are you on the Saints Board? From what little info that is public, we clearly tried to sign a number of defenders, even before, during and after the Ramerez saga. So funds and intent to sort the defence appear to have been there - why we did not manage to pull it off is another matter, but then is it not NC that is in charge of the actual transfer negotiations after NA has identified and requested the targets?? Not that anyone on here really knows, but based on this the balance of probabilty of failing to sort the defence is down to NC not NA - perphaps why he is still here? For the record, I am not blaming either - we are where we are and if we keep the faith we might be ok.

At what point on this forum do we think we have a problem

At what point on this forum do we think we have a problem Now - hope that helps? -
Most definately time to get behind the lads - they are trying their best - it's a very tough league! Very worried now however :-(

Thing is NA knew he had to strengthen the defence – it is public knowledge that we tried to sign two defenders. Probably bids for more than that. So I do not subscribe to the view that he is naive or out of his depth. Just that we/he was unlucky those signings did not come off! Bigger question is why we failed to secure the signings – was it NC being hard to deal with? Who knows?? Don’t think it was NA at fault – no proof, just a gut feeling on my part. Long hard season ahead for sure!

Very good!

Not sure he was today, or so far this season to be fair. I am a great fan of his, but has he really lived up to his promise so far this season? Part of the reason people think Fox is poor (who had a great game today IMO) is that Lallana does not offer much when defending - Punch was much more effective both defending and attacking today. I had really hoped the PL would bring the very best out of AL - so far that has not happened unfortunately. If he wasn't captain and a role model for "The Southampton Way" I feel sure he would have been dropped by now (at least for a few games). New father, captain, PL - is it too much pressure on one person at a young age?? Odd how some lay in to Jos, Kelv, J Rod, Fox and yet dare not to scrutinize the "untouchables" Maybe AL is an average PL player rather than a superstar - which is fine, but let him know he has to earn his place in the team!
-
Thought AL was poor today and has been in a few games this season - is the captaincy putting too much pressure on him? Might be worth resting him for a game or two. Thoughts?
-
Well you should know !
-
Excellent I would say - had a massive game and more importantly kept us in it before we got the 1st!
-
Are you Alpine in disguise?
-
Bog off you bore!
-
Agree. Fox, Fonte and Kelvin are clearly the weakest links. NA knows it - that's why we were after the LB and 2nd CB and 2nd GK - guess we couldn't pull those deals off? Hope we can manage - if we play like today and as we did against MC we will be fine, however if we play like we did against Wigan we will have a long hard season ahead of us! We need to treat every game as a cup final, not just against the glambor clubs. COYRS!!!
