  1. Agreed. He will be our first £30+ player (when sold)
  2. Jose is not great either - seems to be panicking, and for once not leading well
  3. Can't believe people haven't figured this out yet? Mane is the new Matt Le Tissier! And before you all jump on my back, just remember how long it took Matt to establish himself. Yes, Mane needs to to stop diving, and "grow up" in the intelligence / mind games side of football, but if coached right he will come very close to our very own Matty :-)
  4. Probably all horse s**t on my part but I reckon Arsenal will win the PL and we will finish disappointingly in the lower half - not in a relegation fight (at least hope not)! Think we overachieved last season, and have lost more quality than we have added (so far), and we are in more competitions this year. Not too worried about our squad, but rather our ability to cope with the Thurs / Sunday combination. Will be more than delighted to be proven wrong however!
  5. OK, you get my vote for prize tit fan of the year! Well done as there were a fair few contenders

I don't believe so. IMHO, AM are trying it on - see if they can sell TA at a higher amount than agreed with us, which Spurs have done, and then just sell him and ignore the clause to sell to us at the agreed amount WITHOUT paying us the compensation. They probably believed that we would not go legal (and we have not yet done so, just said we are thinking about it. Probably cost us more than the 2M Euro compensation fee in legal fees to take them to court with uncertainty of outcome, so they gambled on us not doing so). Also another reason for not cancelling the buyout option was in case no one else wanted Toby, then we would have to buy him. Let's face it, apart from Spurs no one else seems remotely interested (personally don't really believe the Chelsea interest - they would have him in a heart beat if they were serious). AM are in financial trouble so don't doubt the efforts they will go to try and gain a few million euros.
  7. They can have him for £50M upfront - win win all around
  8. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/12974713.Southampton_s___80m_cash_bonanza/?ref=ar £30M is easily affordable if you believe the above link. That's even allowing for the surplus from last year's transfers funding contracts, agents fees, existing debts etc.
  9. As respectfully as I can put it, if SFC f u off so much, why don't you support someone else? Yes it's frustrating but in 30+ years of supporting the mighty Saints, I am certain this is one of our greater seasons, and certainly one I am happy with overall. CL would have been great, but frankly I would rather we skip EL and focus on strengthening our league position nest year and hopefully blood a few more of the youngsters.
  10. We are Southampton, we play sh1t when we want or: SFC Sn Management -> Ronald you big god, when we said we wanted to you take us to Europe, we meant on our pre-season games, not the real thing!! What happens if Morgan and Clyney stay if we get into Europe and we don't get the big bucks we promised Kat - we don't want to mess with her now do we??? Be a good chap and try some of those world rated academy players, and if we still get in to Europe you are for the chop - oh and try and look really ****ed off when we lose - there's a good chap!

  12. Can we put this myth about having no money to bed? We have just announced a £30M+ profit, and that is before taking in to account a large percentage of last year’s player sales, TV money and this year TV money. We are minted as far as PL clubs are concerned, but whether we choose to spend it or not is another matter. And as long as we don’t get relegated. I am all for keeping a healthy bank balance, but please dump the begging bowl
  13. It will come sooner or later, as there is just too much money involved in the game for obvious wrong decisions to be tolerated in the long term. Just need a few of the old dinosaurs of the game (like Seb B etc.) to move on.
  14. NP and no offence meant. Being excitable is all part of being a footy fan and particularly a Saints fan. Would have loved to have kept JC but his choice to leave - think we tried all we could to keep him. Batman - how do you propose we could have kept him against his wishes and without a new contract?
  15. All down to us really - depends on our attitude and approach - if RK reminds the lads they are not on their hols yet we should win, but if they turn out in their sandals and Hawaiian shirts we are toast!
  16. ...and ?? Or are you suggesting we should have forced him to sign the really good contract we offered him, and which he turned down in preference for playing for Swansea? BTW, he might have had a good game yesterday but has hardly been the shinning star at the Swans!
  17. Whilst like many I really like and admire RK, not sure he is really demonstrating what you say - honesty and integrity, yes, but as for our "want away stars learning from him"? All RK has ever mentioned is that he will honor his contract and hence by implication not beyond that. So how is that any different than NC and JR's positions (admittedly MS is different) - we will see out our contract and then leave for nothing, and it is the club that wants to force the issue of signing a new contract or move them on for a fee (which is perfectly understandable). In my view, if RK would come out and say he is committed beyond his current contract as he really believes in our long term plan, that would be a much better and stronger example to want away stars.

  19. B - not sure if this is your usual tongue in cheek comment or not? But why on earth would a £10M bid from Spuds be appealing to AM? They would have to pay a 1.5M buyout, which on top of say a rounded figure of 7M for permanent deal is 8.5M. Surely Saints would pay an additional 1.5M to keep him, and Tony would want to stay for regular footy, which is no guarantee at Spurs? Maybe it's just me???
  20. Start them both - Pelle needs some help up top and Long is the nuisance player to take advantage of knock downs and will get under the skin of Terry and co.
  21. Score in a brothel, we couldn't score in brothel, score in a brothel, score in brothel ..... etc. Wait, Ossi might be useful after all :-)
  22. Agree about Ref comment but not rest. We had enough chances but no one seems to want to shoot at goal?? I would rather we have a go and miss than not try - FFS we had a lot more attempts than the **** poor Pool, who let's face it scored from the only shot on target with a worldie - 2nd was us chasing the game and would not have happened otherwise. Shoot FFS, just shoot - look what the Pool got for that!
  23. Not sure what the debate is all about really? Of course we should go all out for it, CL or EL - come on, who would have dared to dream this was even a possibility 5 years ago? Yes, we would need more players, but from what I can tell we made an approximate profit of £30M from last summer's transfers, and yes we might have had a debt of the same amount, but what happened to last year's TV money and also there is this this year's TV income to come. Surely we can afford a top striker even better than Pelle (or at least challenge him to be on top of his game), and a decent back up keeper? As said in earlier posts, any departures should and will be adequately replaced, with a healthy profit if history is anything to go by. Let's go balls out for it I say - hardly a risk compared to previous clubs who gambled on European success for survival - we on the other hand would be having a good sensible go! ONYRS
  24. Neither do I, but it's only an opinion based on the fact that he has failed to impress until this season and whilst loaned out several times. As mentioned, we did inquire about him and the reaction on here was totally nonplussed, and quite rightly in my view. There is no denying he is on a great run of form, but key question is if he can keep it going or is it a one off? Maybe I am wrong but just think he is having the luck of his life, rather than having been identified as a developing golden nugget who has finally arrived. After all MP did not pick him at the start of the season and was happy to get rid (loan or permanent)
