  1. Not sure how you come this conclusion, but who knows you could well be right? I personally think RK was going to sign a new contract with us at a rumoured £3M a year (no idea if that is true but it is widely quoted) which is probably a vast increase on his current deal (£1M??) but Everton have come in with a completely stupid offer (£7M FFS). Do I blame RK for taking it - no, not really but does not mean he or Everton will be more successful, but whatever his choice - 3 year contract at £21M in total, I can live with being a failure on that! The real sad part is that some w.anker from abroad has completely negated the new TV deal deal by paying completely stupid and unwarranted premiums and set a new base wage on players and managers - would have been nice to see the extra money ploughed into infrastructure, player development, grass roots footy etc. etc. but was never really going to happen in reality I guess. This simple and pleasurable game is rapidly getting priced out for the average fan - such a shame. Fondly remember talking to Emlyn Hughes (god bless him) about his love of the game and being afraid to ask for a pay rise to £100 a week after winning the European Cup !!!
  2. Seems most likely he is off - pity if so, especially as he has repeated so many times that he would at least honour his current contract. Money and greed is a lot of what is wrong with society in general these days, and hopefully it is just a phase in the human lifecycle - would like to think we have evolved to care about people rather than possessions - anyway I know I am being a sentimental caring old tw#t, but that's me - can't help it! As for RK - very mixed feelings! Would love him to stay and sign a new extended contract and see if we can push on within a financial structure the owner(s) are happy with. It would seem (rightly or wrongly) that NC did not share that view and hence left. There is possibly an argument that RK has taken us as far as he can within the present set up, and the club are not willing to go further (which is entirely up to them of course). So without further (possibly massive) investment Ron may feel he cannot achieve much more with us - and I tend to agree, 6th for me this year was a miracle. So is having him stay for the final year of his contract and then leaving good for us? Personally I don't think so - sign a new long term contract or leave - sad but better in the long term IMHO. The big worry I have is that we have been extremely lucky / skillful / canny or whatever in our managerial appointments in the new regime, and can we carry on? Certainly hope so, but think we are pushing our luck - and please not Giggs!
  3. Agree, it's all about opinions, and I think Les R overall is good for us, but as with anything / anyone else can we do better? I believe we can as we seek to progress, but equally I am more than happy for the club to make that call. I simply offered my view, and if that is controversial, sorry. As for Brexit - reference was that people have (at least IMHO - in case people freak out again) forgotten how to debate properly, instead of just mud slinging without any facts - hope you see the relevance, and if not, it's my last post and I will continue to support the team I love and have done for nearly 40 years.
  4. Honestly, I wonder why we have a forum if every time someone offers an opinion that is not flavour of the month it is firmly stuffed back down the throat? Please read carefully, I have not criticised Les, rather said "he is ok and a valuable asset" but not the hero people are trying to make out here - mostly the same people who have vilified him a lot more at various times. No wonder the Brexit debate is such a mess if we can't even proffer a simple view on a footballing director's role! Let's see what the view is when we sell off the next crop of best players.
  5. Meh! Not too sure myself, and yes I might be completely wrong. I just think LR is average and fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. He has changed his stance on major issues too many times for me (e.g. loans, developing youth) to believe he has a core belief, rather than “go with the flow”. As I said, I think he is ok and a valuable asset, but far from the messiah many would have us believe. Let’s face it, how do you go from being an England / FA supremo to joining a lowly SFC club (when he first joined SFC) if he was “Le God” 2nd ? Les is not the force behind our success, rather he helps in some manner and of course talks a good story!
  6. Here here!!! The do Ron Ron, the do Ron Ron! Let's have a bit of stability - be great to have a settled manager, team and management structure for the next 4 to 5 years and build (particularly the academy), even if we finish mid table. Let's consolidate being a biggish PL club and then build from that.
  7. Try this one mate http://mamahd.com/football-live-streaming-free-online1_premier-league-live-streamig_4950_watch-live-southampton-vs-crystal-palace-1.html
  8. Depends on what other offers he has - my job has just be made redundant, and I for one would defo be understudy for someone in my line of work!
  9. Maybe being optimistic but surely this is a good sign that RK will also sign a new contract??
  10. My first ever Saints game was the 3rd round FA cup replay (I think?) where I was dragged reluctantly by friends (had no interest in footy at the time), and Fisher scored a rare goal in the final minutes - was totally hooked on the mighty Saints since that day - my hero :-)
  11. Better have you checked out for dyslexia Jay - my note said "fancy a pony on the next ride" at the horse races!
  12. This! Let's not airbrush the fact that he left us for a "more passionate fanbase" club, and how that worked out. Yes was good for us in his day, but a massive ego - met him twice and each time got the impression he had no time for the humble fan
  13. On paper we have a very strong attack, yet we need 10 chances for very goal (ish) - if only we could be more clinical, we might be challenging Leicester? Do we need to add an attacking coach (or another one if we already have one) - MLT???

  15. Think we have chosen well, at least as shirt supplier - I bought a few shares in UA after the deal was official and I am up 15% so far :-) Enough to fund a couple of trips to St. Mary's next season so well happy! Sadly it was nothing to with our deal but Curry and Spieth - but who cares (except maybe MLT, who seems to have alienated another "passive" poster on this site - different thread - btw MTL shirt sponsor gets you a much bigger image on telly, then the smaller shirt supplier logo - hope that helps?). BTW - my broker thinks UA shares will grow another 30 to 40% in the next 6 months - NOTE - this not my view and I am in no way suggesting any investment opinion or any other action whatsoever.
  16. Forster for me - changed our season when he came back and all those clean sheets, without which we would be lower half of the table. Just imagine if he was available for the full season! VVD a close second.
  17. Just a guess - Under Armour (and yes I know they are the shirt supplier), but why not sponsor as well?
  18. Not sure why we are blaming Davis? I thought he had an ok game - not great but not bad. Our problem was we showed Leicester too much respect at the start (we only got going on around 30 mins), and Cedric should have closed down the cross. Add to that we should have had two penalties (and one Leicester sending off), so very unlucky really. That's the way it goes sometimes. I personally would have subbed VM after his yellow as he was either going to get sent off, or as it appeared less effective. Not convinced about Austin either - hope I am wrong.

    Shirt sponsor

Why not Under Armour as shirt sponsors as well as kit suppliers? Is that allowed? If we are getting cira £50M for the kit deal, sure we could get £5M for sponsorship on top? I have recently made a modest share investment in UA and the bumf I got as a result seems to suggest they what to up their image in European "soccer" big time and particularly PL. Right now they only have Spurs I believe but they hope to announce 10 to 15 more deals in Europe for next season - us being one of them (for the kit deal).

  21. Trust the anti Yoshi band are posting apologies?? Doubt it somehow! He is a very good squad player, not the first choice but does his job when needed. What better player would be happy to be reserve squad player? Also, those attaching VW - it was never a red in a million years - yellow for sure but not red - no contact and looked bad on a very slippery wet pitch. And if that was a red, what about the WH player that tackled from the back and made heavy contact - how is that not a red from the same ref???
  22. In mine own opinion, "It's always the same with you" :-)
  23. Red

    Harrison Reed

Reed is probably not on a huge amount of pay (£2 to 5K per week), so we are probably not looking to balance the books etc. In which case we should structure any loan move on the basis of more games he plays, the lower the fee - even zero fee if he plays say 80% of the games. Would suit Rangers, and if he gets injured they pay 50% of max fee (both clubs take a hit) - or something like that?? About time we motivated loanee clubs to play our players or no point loaning them.

  25. Do people really think we are paying CA £100K a week (really)??? Where is this from - the porn kings?? Apologies if that is not what you meant The9. Honestly after all the talk of sustainability and bottom four budget etc. etc., does anyone think we have suddenly done a complete about face? I have read anything from 40k to 100k, and think around 60k is probably the right mark - some reports quote he was on 50k at QPR. Of course I have no idea what he is really on (only CA, his agent and club really know that), but if he apparently was not wanted by any bigger / higher clubs than us, and preferred to be south coast, why on earth would we turn our model on it's head to accommodate a very welcome, but ultimately not a "do or die" player? Could be wrong but I just don't buy it! Pleased as punch we got him though, and if the club feels we can afford him, it's more than good enough for me!
