  1. I vaguely remember a really drab 0-0 with West Ham, probably around the branfoot era. Very wet. On Sky I think. Evening game - when down with my group of friends as the worst saints game ever.
  2. We would need a fantastic second half to the season to finish 10th. We’d need to match mid table points (another 28 points?) plus 10 on top, to catch up - 38 points over half a season is nudging champions league qualification form. Possible - but unsurprisingly the bookmakers are not being all that generous.
  3. Also - what do you get? Not clear from their website.
  4. Ralph is amazing. I think we should get carried away - I understand the train is leaving the station. I’m particularly amazed as I thought Hughes was doing as well as possible with this squad and much better than Pellegrino. I must admit I was going off football and seriously considering not renewing after 30 years as a season ticket holder. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts.
  5. Same here - just adults I assume.
  6. Reminded me of the Reading away game that season. Reading top of the league and unbeaten at home. The youngsters had a great day. One of the best performances I’d seen for years. Won, 2-1 if I recall.
  7. Wikipedia suggests he played 26 games - over half of our best ever season. Didn’t Agboola play sweeper behind the two carter halves - firstly Wright and Armstrong and later on Wright and Holmes (I think). Not suggesting Armstrong was in the same class as some of those (I can’t really remember him - if only I could say the same of the current bunch!) but bit harsh that a member of arguably our best ever team got a mention on this thread!
  8. Also - didn’t Ken Armstrong play the season we finished 2nd?
  9. Ok, to the tune on the Boney M classic Ra Ra Rasputin.... Ralph Ralph Hassinhuttl Austria’s high press machine A bit like Klopp But less of a knob.

  11. Sir Ricky
  12. I’m more at the “I’ll believe it when I don’t see it” stage. Reminds me of Betteridges (?) Law. If a headline has a question mark at the end of it, the answer to the question is always no.
  13. A friend of mine bought a half season ticket the last time we got relegated from the prem. He wasn’t really a football fan at all but thought it looked good value mainly because we still had all the top teams to play (we had already failed to beat all the rubbish sides at home, if you remember). He’s had a season ticket ever since!
  14. Give me Nichol’s young side, brimming with potential, if still a bit brittle, any day. Le Tiss, shearer, the Wallaces etc. Think they’d made the best ever start to a top flight season that year and they were great to watch.
  15. But at this point, before saggy did his “wheeler dealing” we also had Beattie.
  16. Last season I saw us win as many matches from the Fulham neutral section as I saw from my season ticket seat.....
  17. On this day 10 years ago we missed two penalties in the first 10 minutes and lost 0-3 to Watford. However, Sunderland was a great day
  18. Can’t believe I forgot the playoffs! I think my mind was protecting me from that memory.
  19. Not too shabby, as far as I can remember. Off the top of my head. Tonight v toffees - win Someone (Norwich?) en route to the JPT final - win Man U away c92 I’m FAC ( Glena chasing Timmy with a cup of tea in hand) - win Vaguely remember Millwall at the Dell in the mid 80s, league cup. Not sure we won that. Any others?
  20. Can we add this to golden threads, mods?
  21. Also, the moon landing is a hoax.
  22. What a load of old rubbish - I can only assumed he was paid per strained analogy. My life is 53 seconds shorter than it could have been.
  23. I like the sound of this guy. He seems to defy the usual metrics. Also reminds me of that joke about being sent to the store room for a “long weight” on your first day.
  24. Harry Kane got loaned out a lot before he came good.
