I think it was Radio Solent University branded

Or possibly if one is exceptional? Seem to remember Shilts was constantly marshalling the whole defence with shouts of TIGHT, AWAY, TIME etc. He never shut up. I've never heard another keeper do that. He was more like a keeper and defensive coach in one. I sure it would have made a big difference when he wasn't playing, even if he didn't make a save.

Can we have that bloke off of Eastenders who appeared briefly about the time we "went Wilde"?
-
He lives in Woolston http://m.dailyecho.co.uk/news/13878590.Saints_star_stops_traffic___after_forgetting_money_for_toll_bridge/

I think they are both things made up by someone. Happy to assist. (Btw - Maddison's little header to le Tiss was a lovely touch.)

Saints position the day Marty McFly left for the future in 1985.

My lasting memory of that match is Ruben Agboola getting his boot stuck in the net after sliding in and failing to prevent yet another goal. He couldn't get himself free for some time. -

Yes, the previous weekend to this table. -
Agreed - but oddly the preceding record signing, Barry Horne, was signed from Pompey. No doubt that Keegan had the most impact in terms of the signing itself (rather than what he actually did for the club. Current double european footballer of the year and English. I was at school then. I remember the headmaster went round all the classrooms to break the news. We didn't learn much that day! All over the front pages of all the newspapers the next day. What would be the closest comparison now - perhaps signing Bale?
-
Pretty sure they didn't play together - osgood signed the year we went down -73/74 - and left during our promotion season - 77/78 I think. Charlie George signed a couple of years later when we we back in the top flight and played with Keenan etc.
-
Surely he wasn't a record signing?

Quite a selection to choose from - from (hazy) memory Osvaldo Gaston Delap um, David Hurst? Alan Mclocklan Barry Horne? David Armstrong Kevin Keegan Peter Osgood Ron Davies Seems a distinct downward trend (with time) to me? Best - Big Ron; worst - The Italian (nut) job. Also, pretty clear that most of these were not as good as our best free signing.
-
I think typically the debt is owed to an entity in a low/nil tax regime. I'm also not an expert but I thought it was pretty normal practice.
-
Would you rather we spent our income on tax or new players (Osvaldo excluded, obvs)

To be fair they often did well when the year ended in a one. It has now been firmly established that success required the year to start with a one as well.

Nigel Adkins Interview (Saints YouTube channel, Monday)

That was absolutely great http://www.onenigeladkins.com -
Just popped into my head that he made some odd comments when he signed, which in retrospect seem prescient. From memory it was along the lines of not being able to believe how much money we threw at him to get him to sign.

Perhaps they have to be world class and even then they may not get the chance to maintain it? -
Just after we'd secured of highest ever league position? Fantastic.
