I remember a game at hillsborough during our 20 plus games without a win run under Nichol. I was with a non saints supporting friend. At 1 0 up with about 2 mins left and the ball safely in midfield I started telling him that "it's about now that we normally let... one in". The ball was in the back of our net before I got to the end of the sentence.

Agreed. In fact I'm pretty sure we've had well below our "fair share" for the last few years, because the team has been, and is, very very good. Surely this in no way compares to something like the everton equaliser where we were left odds on for relegation, rather than remaining odds on for promotion.

We will be promoted on the...... 17th.
-
Not to mention scoring the last ever goal at the dell and moving in mysterious ways by attempting to buy the club out of administration.
-
4 = Steve Williams, surely?

On occasion "balance" is not appropriate.

It would probably be more representative if you could filter out people with more than, say, 10,000 posts.

Has he signed yet?

This. Two pens and a scorpion kick.

"West Ham could go top" tell me how?

Not sure I'd agree in a world cup group. Remember Argentina 6 highly suspect peru 0 in 78. I think that lead to looking at alternatives. Agree goal diff is by far the best for whole season. -

Not that it should affect your decision but, just to confirm, what end is your ticket in? -
Saints "do not have a massive pot of cash"
Stud mark of doom replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
We all know that the Echo has excellent contacts within the club and this sounds very believable - I very much doubt we are keeping the Chamberlain proceeds, in cash, a massive pot. -

There is a six month option too, which is handy as we won't be in the FL in six months time. -
French is quite reliable, it has all the necessary words - "Quels Saints ne veulent pas faire maintenant est de conceder"

just who..do we expect to sign ....
Stud mark of doom replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
True, but having forward players with lots of pace changes how the opposition has to defend and can help open things up for the whole team. We are doing incredibly well without that at the moment but we may well be in the position to be able to sign someone with pace and skill. That would be yet another big step forward. -
At a push, I reckon it was 11 March 1992, Saints 1 Palace 0, judging from the Brazil kits on show. I think I can just about see myself in my season ticket in the East Stand ;-)

I thought it looked like an early nineties kit to me. Terry Hurlock, Dowie et al. Reminded me of this site - 91-93 I think. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm

I was thinking Dennis and Williams would probably be sent off early doors with a 11/12 ref.
-
The current squad is definitely the best for ages. I think it might be a close call even with, say, the 83/84 team. If you could somehow play the two actual teams (with the current team applying their current training etc) and the 83/84 team doing likewise I think it would probably come down to whether the ref was from 11/12 or 83/84. We certainly can't have said that for many years.

Ruddock = 1 April 1989. No need to look up the date.

Well, if it comes to a penalty shoot out..... -
All this talk of music at matches and Arsenal reminded me of the post FA Cup Final 'entertainment' provided in Cardiff. Music blaring at us at full volume, as I recall. We comfortably outsung the victorious supporters, disappointed at 'only' winning the cup, but the recorded music was a different proposition altogether. That was an absolute disgrace. I am still mad about it. Grrrr.
