  1. They would be in the championship pretty quickly.
  2. In the interests of putting to bed the suggestion that HR was right about something. Other than Sunderland (39) - all the other teams that stayed up finished at least four points clear of 37. I suppose if QPR picked up the extra points against Sunderland it might have just been enough. Sadly QPR took max points off Sunderland in the second half of the season so no scope for them picking up extra point off them.
  3. Not if he was talking about qpr.
  4. Pigs' heads all round?
  5. Martin O'Neil has just bought a house nearby, apparently...
  6. I seem to remember this was a matter of considerable debate. We've had enough points for a month. Phew.
  7. Quite impressive to get it muddled up with the 3 1 kit change job for which bubbly Dave was the manager, and not him.
  8. To be fair, it was only 5 1 at full time. I think it was an OG and for some reason the name "Steve sims" comes to mind. Think I spent a bit too much time studying the results when I was a kid!
  9. Nick Holmes versus Watford in the cup (4-0, lost the 2nd leg 7-1). I remember listening on Solent from a hill in the north of France. I think the commentator suggested it was from the half way line?
  10. Me too. A few too many pre match pints and that saints fan on the big screen crying was too much for me.
  11. I remember a Mark Hughes effort - in and out so quick I don't think anyone realised it was a goal until after the game.
  12. Can't see this update has been posted. This mathematical model says our chances of relegation have increases, as you'd expect, but only to 1.3% I suppose this is roughly consistent with the bookies when you add in their healthy profit margin. Made me feel better anyway! http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Southampton.html
  13. From memory (of the Saints history book) I think it was around 1948 or 49. The bad run started when our main striker got crocked - away at Spurs if I recall correctly.
  14. Olivier Barnard
  15. Agree it's 2) but 1) top half this season might run it close.
  16. I can't make it. Missed three games so far at home - wigan, spurs and QPR.
  17. Me too - didn't we also score a top quality own goal that day?
  18. This picture always makes my day - can we get it added to the banner at the top, after SRL?
  19. He's back from the dead - very appropriate at this time of year.
  20. To echo the commentator after his over head kick v Liverpool, how about simply "what a magnificent goal"
  21. Very harsh - he always looked like he was giving 100%, unlike 'arry and most of his signings.
  22. From memory, I think it was around number 23
  23. A friend of mine used to have a badge that just said Jim Steele Mel Blythe Government health warning
  24. Rupert Lowe
  25. Interesting - Sunderland seem to be the most popular third team to go, which isn't how the bookies see it.
