  1. It must be this way round - haven't you read the inlay card on your season ticket?
  2. Not read the whole thread but what tune are you suggesting we ding this one to?
  3. Um, if very few clubs produced five players, we would struggle to have a five-a-side league.
  4. I think the money is a necessary but not sufficient condition. We have Cortese to thank for the money and the rest.
  5. Can someone help me out? I can only name one of these. I lost track of all the names in the wilderness years. From left to right: that pretty good midfielder who went to Doncaster; the full back who thought he was too good for us and jumped ship just before we turned the corner; no idea; Adam Lallana; no idea. Thanks
  6. Plymouth home
  7. I had a similar memory but I thought it was the tour of South America where Barnes scored the great goal (that was almost as good as marsden v Ipswich) and mark Haytley grabbed his spot.
  8. I think the club this should get this up on one of the massive hoardings outside the stadium - so we can see it as we approach the hallowed turf.
  9. They would be in the championship pretty quickly.
  10. In the interests of putting to bed the suggestion that HR was right about something. Other than Sunderland (39) - all the other teams that stayed up finished at least four points clear of 37. I suppose if QPR picked up the extra points against Sunderland it might have just been enough. Sadly QPR took max points off Sunderland in the second half of the season so no scope for them picking up extra point off them.
  11. Not if he was talking about qpr.
  12. Pigs' heads all round?
  13. Martin O'Neil has just bought a house nearby, apparently...
  14. I seem to remember this was a matter of considerable debate. We've had enough points for a month. Phew.
  15. Quite impressive to get it muddled up with the 3 1 kit change job for which bubbly Dave was the manager, and not him.
  16. To be fair, it was only 5 1 at full time. I think it was an OG and for some reason the name "Steve sims" comes to mind. Think I spent a bit too much time studying the results when I was a kid!
  17. Nick Holmes versus Watford in the cup (4-0, lost the 2nd leg 7-1). I remember listening on Solent from a hill in the north of France. I think the commentator suggested it was from the half way line?
  18. Me too. A few too many pre match pints and that saints fan on the big screen crying was too much for me.
  19. I remember a Mark Hughes effort - in and out so quick I don't think anyone realised it was a goal until after the game.
  20. Can't see this update has been posted. This mathematical model says our chances of relegation have increases, as you'd expect, but only to 1.3% I suppose this is roughly consistent with the bookies when you add in their healthy profit margin. Made me feel better anyway! http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Southampton.html
  21. From memory (of the Saints history book) I think it was around 1948 or 49. The bad run started when our main striker got crocked - away at Spurs if I recall correctly.
  22. Olivier Barnard
  23. Agree it's 2) but 1) top half this season might run it close.
  24. I can't make it. Missed three games so far at home - wigan, spurs and QPR.
  25. Me too - didn't we also score a top quality own goal that day?
