I think we are in a significantly better position financially, in comparison with most of the division, than we were in 2003. The top 4 or 5 are still ahead of us but in comparison with most of the league we are looking good. In 2003, we were punching above our weight.

When I looked last the top 9 team in in possession, by some margin, were the top 9 in the league. The only exceptions were Swansea (and Newcastle, who are poor possession wise). Very strong correlation with success. Swansea are the exception.

Surely an option to buy for juve is a good thing for them rather than us. If he dies really well and is worth more than £15m they'll buy him for less than the market price. If he doesn't do too well and isn't worth that, they won't pay that.

What if, say, one of the named starting line up had to go for a crap right at the start and was about 5 mins or so? Unlikely, I know.

Can't see it mentioned elsewhere but on R5L they said it was the ref's first game at Goodson for 6 years after he made some controversial decisions in the merseyside derby. His name was roundly booed before the match. Wonder how this impacted on the late penalty decision?

Fwiw the bookmakers seem to see us as significantly worse than the top six, but significantly better that the bottom 12. Us and Everton are in a class of our own, with them marginally better than us. Seems quite a few of our fans are more negative than the bookies. Odd that.

Definitely the Heath goal for me too - by a long long way. Interesting that the goals in the semi final two years later feel nothing like as bad. Must be because I thought we were strong favourites for the cup in 84. Having an unusually strong side can make things harder to take.....
