  1. You need to look at the accounts for differences between clubs. There really isn't a lot of difference. Most run at a loss of some sort. We should not be misled by the headline figures for the player sales since these are not often fully paid up front and in cash flow terms there is not a lot of surplus and in any case you need to look at the figures over several years to get a true picture. In a few seasons we have gone from a League One club owing tens of millions to a Premier League club worth over £100 million. That increase has to come from somewhere. Other clubs will not have had to find this increase. The big TV money has yet to kick in, hasn't it?
  2. Nobody really seems to know why we voted out. Every opinion seems to be a different opinion.
  3. Why would this be relevant?
  4. Plenty better, Cuco for example.
  5. Worth remembering that the $ is particularly weak at the moment.
  6. Isn't that trolling and therefore not appropriate on here?
  7. Is that wages figure of £80million or so just players' wages?
  8. It doesn't matter who's in charge, in any business any losses you make somehwere have to be compensated by the gains.
  9. I've always thought of him as a bit of a delight.
  10. I think I've got a record of theirs that they made back in the 60s
  11. Yeah, could have been. The press have to write about something, even if they have to 'embellish' the facts.
  12. Italian-speaking Switzerland, wasn't it? Not that I'm a stalker or anything
  13. We could, depending on what sort of agreement we eventually achieve, if ever. That would be a very bad thing though since raising trade barriers is always counter-productive for both sides. This is why the Single Market has been so good for Britain, it enables businesses to specialise and concentrate on what they're good at and operate freely in a market which is ten times bigger than their domestic one.
  14. I take the opposite view. It's ok for young single supporters to go to lots of away games but those with families or dependants or responsibilities will find it more difficult. This system then becomes self-fulfilling since the more away games you go to the more you can get tickets for. It's the same with the England supporters' club, you won't get a ticket to an away game unless you've been to an away game and you won't have been unless you've been able to get a ticket. From your comments it would seem that you view the Saints' support as mainly consisting of a demographic of (relative) youngsters who like to have a few drinks and make a lot of noise, possibly because you mainly go to away games? In reality the supporting base is much wider than that and Season Ticketers should be appreciated for the significant financial commitment they make to the club.
  15. I am only repeating something that I read in the press at the time. After resigning from us he had a 16 month break so that would fit in with your recollections.
  16. Strachan had just received his payoff from Coventry which enabled him to take the time off to have the hip operation that he needed. Or so I read somewhere.
  17. Such unbelievable arrogance. They'll just stick on a lot of tariffs and raise some money that way.
  18. That's 6 words???
  19. But what if you're not going to be at home and sign for the 'special delivery' envelope?
  20. Perhaps it's a Roma thing? They do have a bit of a reputation
  21. Usually for foreign countries any government-issued photo ID is sufficient. Driving licence or even a bus pass can usually be enough.
  22. Hmmm... very strange. Home section is now looking more likely. I was at the ticket office this morning and a lady was looking very puzzled at a sheet of details that the club had just given her. Like many she said that they had booked flights and accommodation but now were not sure whether they would get any tickets as they didn't go to away games.
  23. Thanks. If I can't get a Saints ticket I'm happy to get one from Inter for neutral or home sections. After several years of trying I have finally got my online login to work. I see from the ticket news for Inter away that tickets can only be bought online and that they will only be posted by special delivery to the registered address. The problem with this is that I shall be away from 26th September and shall only get home late on the afternoon of Tuesday 20th October only to fly out early next morning on the Wednesday so there will be nobody there to sign for the letter. Why doesnt the club start the distribution process earlier? I don't see why they have to wait until the 19th.
  24. At least no more sold
