  1. Lynsey Hipgrave. Out of your league, I'm afraid.
  2. I didn't realise that no bottles of any kind were allowed inside. My 11-year old grandson had his bottle of squash confiscated. But we were allowed to buy some Lucozade and some water inside. Mugged. Well, plastic cupped, actually.
  3. Hmm... 5000 arrivals at £10,000 a year support (say) is £50m. Each year.
  4. Nothing to complain about really. A clean sheet was paramount but 3 goals for is a very satisfying result. Shame about Clasie limping off, maybe he overstretched a bit. I've just got home and am watching the replay now
  5. It would make no difference. We are not in the Schengen area at the moment so all they would need to do is get to Calais and then do what they are doing now.
  6. Indeed.
  7. Are you sure that wasn't me in a skirt?
  8. I wish him well in the twilight of his career but I can't see him going to Spurs. They've only just got rid of Adebayor (almost).
  9. None of the above. I have my own business but am semi-retired in that I still go into work but I get paid very little for it.
  10. I am not stupid and I have been to all of these countries except South Africa but including Syria. The distances are irrelevant, it's more to do with what type of social benefits they can expect to receive on arrival. Britain pays 7% or the world's benefits. You have omitted all the countries between the UK and Syria which would provide a safe haven and all of which are a lot closer. Have a look at a map of the world and look at the countries of origin of these migrants compared with the location of the UK. You will find that we are stuck out in the corner on an island in the North Atlantic. Aleppo to Turkish border 150km Aleppo to Beirut 300 km Aleppo to Limassol 271 km Aleppo to Amman 371 km Aleppo to Teheran 1605 km All of these are a lot closer than London and there are many more. And why do you feel the need for the personal abuse? Everything I write has been thought through beforehand. There was no need for your first sentence, it adds nothing to the debate.
  11. Not America, or Australia, or New Zealand, or Canada, or South Africa then, or any of the many other English-speaking language countries? Or any of the Arabic-speaking ones, come to that.
  12. I shall be up that way tomorrow at a family wedding and some of my relations are Tottenham experts. It will be interesting to see what they think of him.
  13. Are you saying that you once wrote utter b*ll*cks?
  14. That's a pity. I don't ever drink at the ground (driving) but tonight I would make an exception if UEFA tell me not to.
  15. I wouldn't think that many of them are from Aleppo, and even if they are they must have passed through a lot of safe places on their way to Calais.
  16. To be honest I had completely forgotten about him.
  17. They have created something that can be sold, just the same as someone who grows food, for example. This goes to the root of economic theory, supply of money and supply of good ad so forth.
  18. They obviously didn't teach you that the rich are wealthy or that being wealthy makes you rich. They have taught you knowledge but not understanding. Both words have been used extensively on here. Seriously, you have a problem.
  19. Not so. Not since we left the gold standard anyway. If someone builds a house from scratch then where has the value of that house come from? The BofE controls the supply of money with one eye on inflation.
  20. It all depends on what you mean by 'wealth'.
  21. Not exactly true. The amount of money in circulation is increased as necessary but it gets very complicated. It is all controlled (supposedly) by The Bank of England and there are different types of money, M0, M1, M3 and so on.
  22. There is a difference in accounting terms. A £10m player would go straight on the balance sheet with his value written down over the four years. It's a bit like the difference between buying a car outright or on a lease with no residual value.
  23. I admire his honesty and his aspirations but his ideas about running the country are la-la.
  24. Teller was a great professional. His experience helped all the youngsters coming through.
