  1. Know thy enemy...
  2. No he isn't.
  3. It's unusual for a new player to go straight into the team and be a success. Historically in the big clubs it would take a few months before a new signing would be considered to have adapted enough to be a regular.
  4. Dave Jones gave a talk to our referees society and mentioned Kevin Davies. He said that there was a board meeting or something and Kevin was invited in. They asked him non-committedly whether he wanted the move or not. When he said yes they all jumped up in the air shouting yippee! They had been hiding their crossed fingers until then.
  5. The defence is more important than the attack if it's points you're after.
  6. Good to see that. Stories? The only one that I can remember is waiting one evening for him to turn up at a referees society meeting in Southampton and him being 'indisposed' and unable to talk. I also seem to remember a report of him turning up at Chelsea to watch a game and being turned away at the door, possibly during Ken Bates's time in charge. Obviously being an ex-player and a fans' hero counted for nothing at that time. Another greta name sadly taken from us at too early an age.
  7. Still possible, but not probable.
  8. Don't goalkeeper shortages count as emergency loans? Any chance?
  9. Tottenham are an example of this. They've spent far more than us and are below us in the table.
  10. How can you describe Gaston a poor when he's not even playing?
  11. January window?
  12. Was it something we said?
  13. Hmm... I'm beginning to get worried about him.
  14. Comedy magic!
  15. That's what I thought. Welbeck tripped over the keeper, he wasn't tripped by him. If you watch Welbeck's left leg he makes no attempt to take another stride, he just leaves it trailing enough to touch Lloris's hand. He's already turning to look at the ref before he hits the ground.
  16. Paul Jones played for him at Stockport and Dave Jones had promised him that if he ever made it to the top he would take him with him. We paid £1m for him and sold Maik Taylor for £800k, who I though was a better keeper.
  17. Yes, some of these players can be quite mercenary.
  18. Some call it OCD, others call it attention to detail.
  19. Why? Are we growing footballers for profit or are we growing the club?
  20. They might have won it. Even though they didn't they got paid a lump of money. How has winning the League Cup ever helped any club?
  21. If only the English could have a vote about getting rid of them
  22. I thought they'd eaten all the horses. Weren't they all deep-fried?
  23. My source is over 60 years of reading such things. You cannot take Cahill's version at face value because it has no practical legal significance. Fee Simple: The greatest possible estate in land, wherein the owner has the right to use it, exclusively possess it, commit waste upon it, dispose of it by deed or will, and take its fruits. A fee simple represents absolute ownership of land, and therefore the owner may do whatever he or she chooses with the land. If an owner of a fee simple dies intestate, the land will descend to the heirs.
  24. Ok by me So is Greenland. ...and another thing. If we get rid of the Jocks can we move onto Central European Time please?
  25. It's a technical thing. If he took 13 years it can't be straightforward, can it? Even the Land Registry talks about 'ownership'. Don't believe everything that you read on Wikipedia. Try telling an Aussie that he doesn't own the land he bought.
