  1. So, nobody fancies another season in this league, then? I was just getting used to it.
  2. Yes, I saw that too. It's nice to know that there is still a place for banter in the modern game.
  3. Well, I'd prefer automatic promotion as soon as possible, (der), but I have sufficient confidence in our team to take it from where we are now. I overhead two ladies on the way to the ground last Saturday: "Well Doreen, at least the lap of the gods are in our own hands now".
  4. He had a good game last night and I did notice him chasing back a couple of times, but there is considerable room for improvement and he can only get better.
  5. I don't know. What are the other options?
  6. There as a generous round of applause but no standing ovation. That was reserved for the Mighty Guly.
  7. Power cut at the moment in Netley and Weston. This won't affect the game, I presume. Does anybody know if the power is still on at St. Mary's? We are ok here at Hamble for the moment.
  8. Aren't all goals 'on target'?
  9. Then why aren't we top of the table? MK Dons scored two goals from about 3 or 4 attempts on target.
  10. I was discussing this once with Ivan Golac. He said that he liked to leave three players upfield when defending corners. That way, the opposition had to keep four players back to mark them.
  11. We could, but we won't. HTH
  12. Having seen the highlights, I suspect he was at fault for their first goal, but otherwise superb.
  13. He was taking as long as he could, but he was no worse than KD has been earlier this season. He was far better yesterday.
  14. Let's be honest, when the second went in I suspect that many others were thinking the same as DD.
  15. Barnard's was in front of goal, their's was to the left. There was a very slight deflection, but it was a big gap and I suspect that Kelvin, like me, thought that he would go for a cross-shot.
  16. I believe that 3rd has home advantage in the second leg, as at Derby.
  17. I agree with you. He didn't keep blowing for niggling trifles and let the game flow whenever possible. The MK Dons' players were sitting on the grass whinging for the first fifteen minutes. I also timed it at just over 5 minutes extra time.
  18. Just remember that, unlike an official parking offence, you don't have to tell them who was driving at the time and they can't go after the vehicle owner.
  19. Yes they do, except that the Argies tried to make them change but some locals insisted on staying on the left as a protest. (from the Wiki link above): http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/argentina/hope.htm
  20. What has impressed me most is the quiet dignity of the people who have lost all that they possessed, and more. The lady on NHK describing how her teenage daughter was swept away from her and is still missing. Where do you begin to repair lives that have been washed out, cities that have been wiped from existence? You always like to think that in such circumstances you would do something different, something special that would save you, but in the face of such sudden and unstoppable force your fate is truly in the lap of the gods. My thoughts are with you in Tokyo, and with all of your compatriots.
  21. The actual wording is 'nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent', so he was in an offside position, but not committing an offence because the ball was not played or touched by a member of his own team. I was behind the goal and saw the flag go up straight away, so I wasn't too bothered at the time. I told my neighbour that I didn't celebrate because of the flag, in case he thought I was 'only there to watch Southampton'.
  22. Surely you've heard of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanna_Reitsch
  23. Doesn't Pulis play centre midfield?
  24. Sending off looked harsh to me. No feet or elbows involved.
