Bournemouth 1 - 3 Saints - Post Match Reaction
Whitey Grandad replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Just enjoying my celebratory pint of Hobgoblin after a very cold afternoon sitting in the Bournemouth end behind the goal. It's a very strange experience sitting amongst the opposition and watching your team get a very impressive win. I must admit to a wry smile when the Saints' fans pointed at us and sang 'you're only here to watch Southampton'. Everyone around us seemed to be solid Bournemouth fans and it felt a bit like that part in The Great Escape where the British lads are trying not to say anything that might give them away. I wasn't too worried for their goal because I saw the flag go up straight away, and I thought it had come to him off one of their players. Lambert's free kick was fantastic, all that I saw was the ball hitting the back of the net. Well done Saints' fans, interesting to see us from the other side. -
I was there. Brighton had the usual away section plus the whole of the South stand. There were empty seats in it.

The keyboards were made on the IOW if I remember correctly. We had one to take apart and play with. I still have an Intel Intellec 4/40 complete with punched tape assembler. It is regarded as the first desktop computer and really ought to be in a museum. A bit like me, I suppose.

If we win on Saturday: Good for Saints, Bad for Bournemouth
Whitey Grandad replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
Indeed. Of all the teams in the top 6, Bournemouth would seem to be the most vulnerable. -
I'm afraid that I've left my lucky keyring at home. Let's just hope that the players don't find out or we're doomed. I'll be happy for a win. Any win. 1-0 2-0 2-1 3-2 I'm not bothered. No, really I'm not.

??? Do you study them like tea leaves? The most important is a win for us. Bournemouth to lose would be very useful and it's time that Brighton went on their poor run of results. Apart from them, Huddersfield and Peterborough are the ones to fear.

Correct

A wonderful and fascinating subject, but I just cannot stand his voice.
-
That's a time, not a date.

My tickets are blue too, but they're in the South Stand. Previous tickets that I've had there were red, but they were in the side stands. No, I don't know the reason why, either.

There's not a sound in the world to beat it. I was in a small boat in the Solent for the D-Day 50th celebrations and when the Battle of Britain flight flew over together with a P51 and others I nearly fell over the side with excitement. I also remember the 50th anniversary of the first flight. I was driving east on the M27 and I was just coming down the hill after Chilworth when a group of spitfires - 7 or 9 of them - flew over in line astern from the north and swung left to land at Eastleigh. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen.

Adkins: "There is scope to dip into the loan market"
Whitey Grandad replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Hindsight is wonderful. Let's just hope that he's not 'injury prone'. -
My tickets finally arrived this morning so I shall be sitting in the south scaffolding with all the other cuckoos. Unless it rains, that is, in which case I might stay at home.
-
Playoffs, or automatic promotion?

Adkins: "There is scope to dip into the loan market"
Whitey Grandad replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Maybe, but do you think he was the sort of player that we needed, and has he been effective since arriving? -
That's a thought. How about 'Where would we be under Pearson?'
-
So, just like us then.

But there have also been other SINGLE games. -
Adkins: "There is scope to dip into the loan market"

What we needed was a midfield general, as has been mooted elsewhere. -
At his age he's at the end of a footballing career, even without the injuries.
-
About where we are now. Possibly higher because there would not have been the disruption.

I filled my car up with diesel in Holland on Tuesday (it's all right, it is a diesel car). The price was €1.38 a litre. It's a new Mercedes E350 and I'm getting well over 600 miles on a tankful. Anyway, we drove through the border with Germany at over 70mph. We've all come a long way in the last 65 years, but as Theodore Rooseveldt said: 'speak softly and carry a big stick'. There's also a roman proverb: 'Si vis pacem para bellum' - 'if you wish for peace, prepare for war'.

Perhaps you should like in Costa Rica? http://www.diplomatmagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=321&Itemid=

I used to have a cartoon on my office wall. It read: "I feel so much better now that I've given up hope".

Something just not right at the moment

Too big a squad = too many changes ?
