  1. I was discussing this once with Ivan Golac. He said that he liked to leave three players upfield when defending corners. That way, the opposition had to keep four players back to mark them.
  2. We could, but we won't. HTH
  3. Having seen the highlights, I suspect he was at fault for their first goal, but otherwise superb.
  4. He was taking as long as he could, but he was no worse than KD has been earlier this season. He was far better yesterday.
  5. Let's be honest, when the second went in I suspect that many others were thinking the same as DD.
  6. Barnard's was in front of goal, their's was to the left. There was a very slight deflection, but it was a big gap and I suspect that Kelvin, like me, thought that he would go for a cross-shot.
  7. I believe that 3rd has home advantage in the second leg, as at Derby.
  8. I agree with you. He didn't keep blowing for niggling trifles and let the game flow whenever possible. The MK Dons' players were sitting on the grass whinging for the first fifteen minutes. I also timed it at just over 5 minutes extra time.
  9. Just remember that, unlike an official parking offence, you don't have to tell them who was driving at the time and they can't go after the vehicle owner.
  10. Yes they do, except that the Argies tried to make them change but some locals insisted on staying on the left as a protest. (from the Wiki link above): http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/argentina/hope.htm
  11. What has impressed me most is the quiet dignity of the people who have lost all that they possessed, and more. The lady on NHK describing how her teenage daughter was swept away from her and is still missing. Where do you begin to repair lives that have been washed out, cities that have been wiped from existence? You always like to think that in such circumstances you would do something different, something special that would save you, but in the face of such sudden and unstoppable force your fate is truly in the lap of the gods. My thoughts are with you in Tokyo, and with all of your compatriots.
  12. The actual wording is 'nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent', so he was in an offside position, but not committing an offence because the ball was not played or touched by a member of his own team. I was behind the goal and saw the flag go up straight away, so I wasn't too bothered at the time. I told my neighbour that I didn't celebrate because of the flag, in case he thought I was 'only there to watch Southampton'.
  13. Surely you've heard of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanna_Reitsch
  14. Doesn't Pulis play centre midfield?
  15. Sending off looked harsh to me. No feet or elbows involved.
  16. Just enjoying my celebratory pint of Hobgoblin after a very cold afternoon sitting in the Bournemouth end behind the goal. It's a very strange experience sitting amongst the opposition and watching your team get a very impressive win. I must admit to a wry smile when the Saints' fans pointed at us and sang 'you're only here to watch Southampton'. Everyone around us seemed to be solid Bournemouth fans and it felt a bit like that part in The Great Escape where the British lads are trying not to say anything that might give them away. I wasn't too worried for their goal because I saw the flag go up straight away, and I thought it had come to him off one of their players. Lambert's free kick was fantastic, all that I saw was the ball hitting the back of the net. Well done Saints' fans, interesting to see us from the other side.
  17. I was there. Brighton had the usual away section plus the whole of the South stand. There were empty seats in it.
  18. The keyboards were made on the IOW if I remember correctly. We had one to take apart and play with. I still have an Intel Intellec 4/40 complete with punched tape assembler. It is regarded as the first desktop computer and really ought to be in a museum. A bit like me, I suppose.
  19. Indeed. Of all the teams in the top 6, Bournemouth would seem to be the most vulnerable.
  20. I'm afraid that I've left my lucky keyring at home. Let's just hope that the players don't find out or we're doomed. I'll be happy for a win. Any win. 1-0 2-0 2-1 3-2 I'm not bothered. No, really I'm not.
  21. ??? Do you study them like tea leaves? The most important is a win for us. Bournemouth to lose would be very useful and it's time that Brighton went on their poor run of results. Apart from them, Huddersfield and Peterborough are the ones to fear.
  22. A wonderful and fascinating subject, but I just cannot stand his voice.
  23. That's a time, not a date.
