  1. I'm sure I read a quote attributed to AP, who said we tried to sign of conference player but it fell through. I thought at the time it was possibly Craddock and therefore this is probably true. As said above, we may go back in January unless of course, there is some reason (possibly medical) that we pulled out of the deal.
  2. A pretty good summary, although I think Morgan also made a big difference when he came on. Lisbie was by some distance the MoM though!!
  3. Yup!! Couldn't agree more! Another waste of space signing IMO!
  4. To me! The only creative player we've got and HAS to play!!
  5. Hammond played well but needs a more creative player to play along side him. The team looked much better once Morgan came on. Can't understand why he wasn't playing from the start, to me James does nothing. Not a CMF player and not a RB and hasn't got the pace to be a RW!
  6. I'm not making predictions due to being crap at it but I'm still confident in us being on positive points before P*mpey are!!
  7. They will come down with a bump, next week!!
  8. OG was thrown into the first team last season before he was ready. He was 17 FFS!! Didn't stop him from nearly winning the FA Apprentice of the year (against 16/17 year olds from ALL Premier and Coca Cola League teams). Will be a very good player, he has already grown and filled out from last season and will get better with decent coaches bringing him on gradually.
  9. According to the news releases Papa misses out! http://www.eatsleepsport.com/southampton/trio-missing-for-saints-942154.html http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/04092009/63/striker-misses-saints.html http://www.clubcall.com/southampton/striker-ruled-out-942154.html
  10. Correct!! But you were not alone.
  11. No, we've actually got some scouts now, don't you know?!!
  12. Prefer something along the lines of Madonna's "Papa don't Peach!"
  13. Trouble is, apart from one or two, they're pretty damned poor at the top of the football pyramid and they are our so called "best" referees. As you come down division by division they get worse and worse (with the exception of the odd younger up and coming ref).
  14. No I think it was a 'muffin' reaction?!
  15. I've said that for what seems like 20 years now!
  16. It would slope in the same way Middlesbro and Sunderland do. The foundations were put down for a tier to be 'slotted' on on all sides but because of the executive boxes, it wouldn't be cost affective to build above the Itchen (reconfiguration required). If they build on the other 3 sides I think the maximum they can achieve is 48,000. I suspect that they would only end up adding another 10k to the current capacity taking up to c42,000.
  17. Usually I'd agree with you but they have so many projects currently in mothballs, awaiting for an economic upturn, including proposed hotels and leisure facilities. They should see this as being a way of guaranteeing some inward investment to get some of these off the drawing board and into construction.
  18. I'm pretty sure that the FA have already stated that there will be 2 club stadiums in addition to Wembley used in London (maybe because it is a conurbation of several towns and not one city). They have definitely stated that the Millennium is part of the bid (I think one of the Semi-Finals in addition to group games is due to be played there). BTW Twickenham has also been mentioned as a venue.
  19. 2 in N/west - Old Trafford and Stanley Park 2 in N/east - St James' and Stadium of Light 2 in East Midlands (from Nottm, Derby, Leicester) 2 in West Midlands Birmingham's new stadium, Coventry 3 in London Wembley (opening and final + England group games), Emirates, plus A.N. Other. Millennium 2 in South - Bristol new stadium, plus A.N. Other (P*rtsm*uth in prime position ATM).
  20. There is no particular deadline. The FA just needed to know that there were enough clubs and local authorities interested in staging the event, to make a bid viable. Also, there will be several 'interested parties' pull out (Aston Villa already has) and others will fall by the wayside as building a 40,000 seater stadium will never happen!
  21. Blimey, if we're still at this level by the time the 2018 World Cup comes along, we might as well all give up!!
  22. I agree and I'm sure if the take over had been last summer, we would certainly had put ourselves forward (regardless of who is in charge of the council).
  23. Plymouth won't get it, too isolated. As it stands I think Bristol and Portsmouth are a cert (as long as both finally get their sh!t together, stadium wise). If we entered the race we are in a good position to pip the blue few to the second 'southern' host city.
  24. Surely if the club want to bid then the council would be crazy not to back it. Being one of the World Cup cities would raise the profile of the city and bring in millions for the local economy, therefore a no lose situation for SCC.
  25. AP said as much in the Echo yesterday. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4570909.No_more_excuses_for_Saints/
