  1. My comments from the match verdict thread FWIW!!
  2. Our supporters are football's equivalent to Status Quo!! 50 bloody songs to the same bloody tune!!!
  3. He's posing the same questions the press were after a previous match when Coppell was a guest of ML. Just coincedence? Apparently Coppell being there was (even though everybody was convinced he's to be our new SD/DoF) so McManaman being there probably is to but then again who knows?
  4. Wasn't that a direct question? I don't think it was meant as 'cryptic bollix' as you poetically put it.
  5. First one at the time I thought was dubious but since seeing the tv pictures, correct decision. The second one was definite handball and although harsh, the lineman was in the perfect position to give it. One of those, 7 times out of 10 wouldn't be given but luckily it was one of the other 3.
  6. Your talking carp!! Saganowski saw loads of the ball yesterday but nearly always in an off-side position.
  7. Saw this before the Colchester game and was really impressed (although the cynic in me was just waiting for the graffiti asbos to deface it).
  8. FWIW I thought Davis was pretty poor yesterday. Had bugger all to do but fumbled the only cross he had to claim and distribution and kicking was dreadful. Saga has been to the BWP school of off-side and apart from the odd play hardly got into the game. Jaidi was off the pace at the start of the game and gave away a handful of unnecessary free kicks, which a better team may have punished. He did improve as the game went on though. James was pretty poor again, no pace and not a lot of tacking ability. Schneiderlin had a mixed game, showed glimpses of what he's capable of but then over hit his pass. Harding also had a bit of an off game but made up for it with work rate and desire. Best players were Trotman, solid as you like, Lallana, who was always available and caused their defence (on both sides) all sorts of problems, Lambert, who despite never getting any protection from the officials, won just about every header, held the ball up well and of course hit 2 class penalties and Hammond, who I thought was immense. Best performance from any Saints player this season (and probably last as well). Waigo looked lively when he came on two shot on target, got cynically chopped down. Can't ask for more than that in the cameo appearance. Mills looked good when he came on and as others have said, gave an added dimension with his corners. Wotton was ok, did what he needed to to see the game out.
  9. I see that the squad poster is being given away in tomorrow's programme and Herren Leibherr and Cortese are sat in the front row next to the manager and coaching staff. That won't go down very well with some!
  10. I agree except I think it was the second return that was the bad decision. As DoF above Alan Ball and Graeme Souness I thought he did a good job.
  11. Ditto.
  12. Or it could be score an early goal, fail to take any of our many chances to make it 2 and concede an equaliser in the last 5 minutes.
  13. Well, they seem a dedicated bunch! Not!!
  14. Maybe we want him to get a month's football at this level before making him a 'proper' member of our first team squad.
  15. Yes, I don't know whether that was a compliment or an insult.
  16. I would think Trotman and Trotman's agent might have a say!
  17. My biggest gripe against Colchester was lack of creativity. The midfield had Melis (first half), James, Lallana, Hammond and Schneiderlin (second half). There was NO problem with the solidity of the team and we basically bossed midfield. The question is is Gillett going to add any MORE creativity to that midfield? My guess is and I would suggest that most would say, not in the slightest! However, if our midfield was being overran, there may be a case for Gillett coming in because of his tackling ability but at the moment, that is not the case.
  18. Massive waste of dwindling resources.
  19. He's a young lad who is struggling to hold down a place in the bottom team in League 1. Even if he's the most ambitious person in the world, unless he is incredibly thick, he surely realizes that he is never going to get anywhere near the England team (at least at senior level). Therefore being given a chance to play at that level with T&T is an opportunity he would be daft to turn down. CONCACAF is not the strongest of regions but will still allow him to develop as a player and give him a chance of playing in a major championship (unlike if he went the Scottish or Welsh route). What surprises me is that with all the athletes being developed in the Caribbean these days, why T&T would want him TBH. Good luck to the boy. I say!!
  20. But Lallana is more likely to create or score a goal than just about any other midfielder we have, whether we think he's living up to his potential or not. Certainly more chance than Gillett!
  21. But that view is as valid as anybody else's opinion. The same as you having a go at Lallana and Schneiderlin but others defending them or the posters that think Holmes is the best thing since sliced bread and will be the eternal saviour, whereas I think he's a complete waste of space!! You won't get 2 people with the same opinions and that includes the manager.
  22. 99.9% of clubs have not gone through the amount of managers we have in the last 12 years. I doubt there is even one, let alone .1% that could rival our turnover. We most definitely are not "the norm."
  23. But it isn't a new thing. I'd say we haven't managed our fair share since Le Tiss retired. Which is probably why we're in the position we're in.
  24. corrected it for you!!
  25. I agree with this but I don't see too many volunteers willing to take the responsibilty away from Lallana. Could be that he is truly the best option?
