  1. Mmmm! A team England haven't beaten for about 30 years I believe. Correction 40 years!!
  2. Anders had excellent technical ability and played well when the team was going well! He struggled somewhat when we needed to roll our collective sleeves up and battle to get a result. He certainly wasn't the first nor the last to have that problem. Overall, for what we paid for him, I would say he was a good signing for us but disappointingly never reached the heights he seem to, playing for his national team. BTW Congrats on the 100 caps Anders, which is some achievement, whichever nation you represent.
  3. I think you answered your own question.
  4. I think Alps meant to say player of the month?! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1790301,00.html
  5. I don't think Jaidi will be available because they said the WP would take a couple of weeks to sort out. Papa has his work permit and would have played on Saturday if it weren't for Fiorentina holding up the paperwork. Therefore I think only 2 changes. Saga for Paterson and Papa for Melis.
  6. That was on the Sky transfer window page but it seems not to be true because he played for the Reserves at Woking last Monday.
  7. Unless they know who they want but he/she is not available until the summer?
  8. Yes but it's not just the Northam is it? The Itchen North and Kingsland North are far more vocal than the near empty Itchen South and the family enclosure in Chapel/Kingsland South corner. We would have to reconfigure the whole ground to get the desired 2nd half atmosphere. Somebody joked that we built the ground the wrong way round earlier and that is not too far from the truth. Not many grounds around the country have the main stand (Directors box, premium seats and players/managers dug out) on the east side of the stadium. Obviously RL enjoyed squinting into the sun, whilst watching the game.
  9. Maybe the idea originally was to get in Coppell as Sporting Director as a "first" appointment. He wasn't ready to commit to the role but said he was interested after taking a sabbatical? Maybe it was Coppell who suggested Pardew for the role of manager and maybe Pardew was told all of this (and the fact that Coppell, would be joining later as SD) during his interview and prior to him accepting the role? All hearsay, guesswork and speculation but quite feasible IMO!
  10. Cortese is the CEO of the company and does not want to be doing the contracts and negotiations. The Sporting Director role is a mirror to the Oldknow role on the commercial side. If you like an "assistant" to the CEO but one with more expertise in the football business world. OR WOULD YOU LIKE CORTESE TO BECOME LOWE 2?
  11. TBH I don't think Coppell actually wants a manager's job any more. I think this sort of role is ideal for him. He can use his expertise to run the football side behind the scenes leaving Pardew, Wilkins and Downes to look after team affairs.
  12. The right side without Murty is a problem, as is the general lack of pace.

    Violence

Yes but Rolfy went on the pitch on his own while the game was still going on around him!
  14. As I said on the other thread that would be awesome!! Hopefully Henderson will be on his way now and we can start preparing the younger players and reserves with the right "tools" for when they are called up for the first team.
  15. Just needs Coppell to come in as Sporting Director and we'll have an awesome management and coaching structure, probably our best ever? And the best outside the top half of the Premier League.
  16. I know that we're one of the sunnier places in the country but how often do we actually see it during the football season in England? Anyway, what's wrong with KD wearing a cap or is he worried about getting hat-hair?
  17. There is a difference between being quick and being quick with the football. I would hazard a guess that in a straight sprint Thomson would beat the Colchester left back quite comfortably but give him a football to dribble at the same time and he is as slow as the rest of our one paced team. Even Nathan Dyer struggled to show his true pace when in control (or not) of the ball. Oh for another Theo!!
  18. What at Celtic and Wigan?
  19. We don't always lose it either but we DO always kick towards the Northam first half!
  20. They've done something similar every year since moving to St Mary's. It's a sort of "good neighbour" compensation for disruption (in particular parking disruption) caused on match days and other stadium events.
  21. I think you've got a chip on your shoulder!
  22. ....and Bristol Rovers!! Anybody living in the closest districts to SMS should have received a "Home Turf" Residents Newsletter and on the back there is a special match ticket offer for the next 2 home games. Adults £10, Concessions £5 - maximum 4 tickets per address. Applicants must take a copy of the newsletter with them to the ticket office. The offer is not available by phone, fax or on-line.
  23. Yes but no money can change hands.
  24. Yes but WHY run out that way? It ain't compulsory!! I'm sure it's just so KD get's his customary applause from the Northam when he runs out for the 2nd half. IMO you should always (barring gale forced winds) kick towards your kop/popular end in the 2nd half and at the same time, stop the opposition kicking towards their support.
  25. Those sort of deals are not allowed outside the transfer window!!
