According to the SSN transfer webpages Sam Argent has been released. Nothing to confirm this (that I can find) on the OS. He played for the U18's at Man Utd. on Saturday.

I would rather loan somebody with real potential who can do a very decent job for us, than buy another no-name who ends up as another drain on the squad and resources and probably spends all season in and out of the treatment table.

It'll be interesting to see how many we do get. It clashes with Hants day-nighter at the Rose Bowl, so that may affect the figure (seeing many people may have had tickets for that prior to the cup draw taking place). Norwich (with their supadupa support) had 12.5K last night, so it would be good to beat that. The Skates are at home this evening as well but it goes without saying that we will beat them.

I agree to a certain extent but the Dell was a huge advantage for us because it intimidated the opposition (even the biggest teams) and every comment and quip could be heard by the players standing anywhere near the touchline/bylines. St Mary's was a necessity, as was the off the shelf type of stadium (because anything more elaborate would have bankrupted us much earlier) but the distance between the touchlines and stands should have been researched much more to have at least try to replicate the feel of that "closeness" experienced at the Dell.

I think he was alluding to the possibility of not being able to offload Ras and Saga, being stuck with them and having to use them. It would be foolhardy of Cortese to sanction replacement players with these two still on the wage bill (in any business). Not that we couldn't afford it, just that we would have deadwood, not playing, eating into the wage budget and having a negative affect on the rest of the playing squad.
