Saints 1 Norwich 0 - For Once We Score A Late Winner!
Micky replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Winning ugly - sign of a very, very good team. -
From the BBC sport website: A commendable 13,517 have turned out at the 32,500-capacity St Mary's to watch this dross. Tickets only cost £12 for adults and a fiver for Under-16s, mind. Less than a family night out at your local spicy Portuguese chicken joint. I'd still be demanding a refund. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

This, this and thrice this. Not followed for quite so long, but well into 40 years, and as you have said - it's all about perspective. As for this place, well I renewed my subscription last year - but rarely post very much. However, I do spend quite a lot of time lurking just for the laughs really. The match threads are very funny, it generally only takes the first couple of minutes before the usual negativity descends, "he's sh yte, he's crap, he should be sacked" - it really is very funny. I cannot believe how quickly or easily some of our fans actually give up on the team - it's frightening. Because of the run that we are currently on - the post match meltdown threads I also find bloody hilarious - really I wouldn't let some of our on-line fans cross the road without assistance Can you imagine actually going to a game with Batman, Glasgow, Dalek or Alpine - they'd probably start whinging before kick off. I'm sorry but they just come across as people who are totally ignorant of lifes small challenges. I reckon if Alpine burned his Sunday morning toast it would constitute a crisis and he would call the fire brigade for help. All of that said - there are still some good contributors here, who tend to stick to the facts and post reasoned opinion; always look out for the likes of Chez, Doddisalegend, Wes Tender and a few others, who give good match opinion / previews without getting drawn into the negative rhetoric of others. So in essence, it's not all bad, but I fear the negativity far outweighs the rich pickings.

Because they are both opinion, not fact. In the eye of the beholder each will see their opinion as the correct opinion, not fact, but opinion. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

You really are the angel of the forum aren't you..? Always the victim, never the culprit. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

My name's Micky, I'm a troll. Jesus, this place really is poison these days. Is there the same short sighted bigotry going over at Paps place as well..? Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Everyone of his posts, on both this and the match thread, reminds me of a hysterical nine year girl running around the school playground crying because somebody has pulled her hair. We are not in great shape right now, but really, the usual suspects really do need to get a grip. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Four Four Two reveal the most creative teams so far this season
Micky replied to baggytrousers's topic in The Saints
Just bears out what most people on here are saying though - we can keep the ball, we can create - but we can not finish. [saints Shopping List - 1 x Striker] (who knows where the back of the net is.) -
It's games such as that where you can easily see why some people can make the correlation between referees and brown paper envelopes. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

I hope that they turn a profit every single year, and a healthy one at that too. We do not have a 'Sugar Daddy', (and neither would I want one) we have experienced people with good business acumen. The overarching strategy of most businesses is to make a profit. Strange, I know - but do that - and your in business next year as well. Fail to do it and the consequences can be quite catastrophic - how much was it (after the overdraft) that actually sent us into debt not too many years ago - 10 grand or something stupid? People use the phrase 'invest in the club' but fail to understand what 'invest' actually means. Anybody who invests something, wants more than their investment returned at a later date. Investors do not give money away, so I am more than happy that Kat and the board 'invests' in the club as they have been doing. If on the other hand you want somebody to spend, spend, spend, break the wage structure and gamble on big wages equaling big players and big success I think you need a gambler and not an investor. The footballs not great right now - but it was always going to be very difficult to top our last couple of seasons. I'm very happy that we are 'investing' and in profit, very happy.

That's a very funny post, have you been following us for the last five years or the last five minutes? Btw what team do you support? Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

There are some real dipstick posters on this forum. By a country mile, you lead those divs. Get a grip. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Careful now, you've used a lot of perspective there, can't you just go with the flow and sack half the team, the manager and Les Reed...? Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

If we go behind in this one it could very well be game over. They will park the bus, and let's face it, our finishing is tepid at best. I still worry that when we need a goal, VvD often looks to be our best bet of getting back into a game. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

Totally agree. Last season I used to think that we had a chance in any of the games we played - even the so called big clubs. This season, I have no confidence whatsoever going into games against the top sides, or those in and around us to be honest. Tonight we were the home team and trying to hang on from about the 25 minute mark - we were never going to win, and Vic was pretty damn good for them tonight as well. WBA next - and personally I wouldn't be surprised if we got nothing from that either. That said, I can see us finishing 10 - 14, shouldn't really be any worse than that.
-
When he made the substitutions I actually thought - well done, that's a positive reaction - so I can't really blame Puel too much on that one. But, you're right - to a man, they offered nothing. Talk about having players on the bench who can make an impact - my old mans 83 and he could've made a bigger impact than all three of them...! Has Shane scored this season yet? He really doesn't look like he has a clue of where the goal is, let alone how to get the ball there. Long hard season for some of our lot I think.
-
Because he could, because he was live on Sky, because he doesn't have to explain the reasoning to anybody at the end of the game..... I despair with some referees, I really do. If you actually look at the foul - it occurred well outside of the box. He's right to allow play to go on, but nothing happened inside the box. I just feel that it's really easy for referees to always go in favour of the 'bigger' team - which tonight, was Spurs.
-
They were much better than us, bar the first fifteen. Shouldn't of been a pen or a red card, the cautionable offence occurred 15 yards outside of the box, but that said - I still think they would've won. I predicted them scoring a hatful at half time - and they duly obliged. Guess it's one to 'draw a line under and move on'. My concerns are that we don't really look like scoring goals against most teams. When we need inspiration - it always seems to come from VvD, he and Fonte look most likely to score in games like that. Where are our so called creative / flair players when the going gets tough? Foster didn't instill any confidence in the players in front of him with his kicking tonight and seriously needs to work on the basics when the ball is on the ground. Strangely, even after having a new one ripped by Spurs, I don't feel too deflated tonight - perhaps I was expecting it all along. Moving on - WBA next and that won't be easy - need a serious reaction after tonight though.
