Premier League clubs in wanting to end promotion/relegation shocker
Micky replied to farawaysaint's topic in The Lounge
Errrr. it is already like that. There are only 4 teams that have won the Premiership, 4! And ManU have won it most years since it's inception. How much more boring could it get. This year, ManC might challenge them - could then be 5 clubs that have won it. ManC have spent somewhere in the region of 1 billion pounds in the last 2-3 years in order to achieve this. I can see Wigan, Blackburn, Everton and Bolton all challenging as well in the next few coming seasons - really, I can. -
Errr, you started it...! Hopefully though your source was more creditable than this: http://fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=379354

Dunno what all the fuss is about, Sky thought we were that good they told everybody that we'd won it: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11095_7244107,00.html Cool.

You're probably correct in that he is too good for league one, he's also relatively safe and reliable in this league - but international football - I think not. I'm actually a great fan of Kelvins - many would have gone and sat on West Hams bench (arguably for a lot more money than we were paying), but he chose to stay, gamble and play. I hope he is royally rewarded for that commitment with games in the Premier League, but even then I think that if we got there - we might assess certain positions - one of which would be his. Love his loyalty and passion for the game and the club - but that 'aint gonna get him into the international setup.

You don't post on here very often do you? About as frequently as you get out per chance?

Great thread - I just wish you had waited until we had played the skates - then we could all have included both Notarf Kraps, now that they have had new toilets and a clock installed...!!!

Ahhhh I amassed a massive 9 points out of 24 - about the lowest on here. Does that now mean that I have to move out of the United Kingdom?

Saved me the bother... +1.

Don't do apple - but acknowledge the technical achievements and creative solutions that this man helped to make mainstream. RIP.

Feel for Chris Hughton - did a spectacular job with Newcastle and was uncerimoniously dumped, and then walks unsuspectedly into this mess. He doesn't have a lot of luck does he.

The really sad thing about all of this is that with the technology / software available today all of these 'scams' could be avoided by the telcos. Scams such as recieving anoying text messages offering 'scam' services, but giving you the choice to 'opt out' by phoning or sending a text to a premium rate number that costs an absolute fortune - it is nothing but legalised robbery. Roaming data charges, nothing short of taking advantage of inexperienced / unsuspecting newbys running smartphones. Can the telcos track these scam messages, can they see normal usage bills (30 - 50 quid) suddenly rack into the thousands - of course they can. It's not rocket science in todays world of technology. I used to work for a company that tracked credit card transactions on a certain make of swipe machine. Every single transaction was traced and logged in real time. Special software is used to check all transactions to ensure the card is not stolen or has not been cloned, or that there is anything irregular about where or when the transaction is made. If that sort of security can be afforded cc's, then I'm pretty certain that it's quite easy to implement such mechanisms on cell phone systems. Perhaps though - the providers might loose money that way though. Stuff your consumer rights.

I thought that Stuart Pearce was being 'groomed' to become the next man. However, I wonder if 'arry's 'old school' approach is now not flavour of the day with the FA, I think they may be looking for a more intellegent, forward thinking, progressively sports scientific orientated candidate. Now I wonder where you could find such a man?

Discipline is an important part of the game today - picking up stupid yellow cards only puts you under pressure. Hopefully it is driven into the players that losing your cool during a game is only likely to lead to losing the game itself. Mind you, I guess it's easier to keep your cool when you are flying high and results are good - as opposed to staring at the abyss of the relegation zone.
