To be fair - the guy has conducted himself impecably throughout this whole ****in' mess. Saw him intereviewed on TV after a recent game and he refused to blame anything other than the teams performance on the day for losing. This maybe true - but I think he's a decent guy who deserves a better job. Perhaps if true and he does get the boot better things will come his way - let's face it - not harder to get better than pompee is it?
  3. Was exactly what I was going to say. If the like of 9/11 can be planned and executed in America - it can happen anywhere in the world. That is why our guys are currently in Afghanistan. It is interesting to note as well that there are lots of countries Armed Forces currently serving over there (Germany, Denmark and the like) that (for political reasons) wouldn't normally serve in these hot spots. They are there now though - because they too understand the very real threat of another 9/11.
  4. I do - but I don't think they will. Even if they do though - they could get seriously embarrassed at the finals, so perhaps non qualification is a better option for them really.
  5. AP, Downes, Coppell - all good football people with experience, yet more progress as far as I am concerned. Caveated with ..."if true" of course...!
  6. Damn what a good idea - so instead of sacking him we will offer him support and assistance instead eh. Bloody radical, it will never catch on. I tell ya.
  7. Well there appears to be no end of people here who are willing to pull the trigger right now, so do you think I should start a thread as to who we want to replace AP, or shall we just do that in this thread as well. Replacement for AP, thoughts anyone? There was a poster on here a couple of days ago telling us that George Burley would be sacked yesterday - he has a great point per game ratio, far better than AP - any takers there perhaps?
  8. This is something that annoys me as well. Because our fall from grace has been so rapid, it appears to me that, some (many) seem to think that we still have Premiership quality players. We don't - our squad and ability are on par with all other League 1 teams. We have no devine right to beat anybody in the league just because we used to be (not so very long ago) a Premiership side. I don't know whether it is the younger posters on here (and if not - then I apologise in advance for my stereotyping and assumptions), but many of us can remember life for the club before the years of continuous top flight football. Perhaps many of our younger fans can't and have been spoilt somewhat. That said - in years gone by when we were in the lower divisions - we had to work bloody hard to get out, nothings changed and the same applies. We have no devine right, we are a League 1 team and we have to battle and scrap the same as our peers - the Premier League is light years away, so get used to it. We will get back there, but it is going to take more time than most probably want - and to start whinging after 9 games is somewhat laughable - personally I would do what LTC advises, sit back, enjoy the ride and support the club.
  9. I agree - we are a shytty little club in a shytty little league and we are not different to all the other teams in this league and we definately are not special. But unfortunately you missed the salient point. The fact remains that we have constantly sacked managers at the drop of a hat and it has not resolved our ongoing problems - so for once eh, just once - let's back this one for a bit eh?
  10. And I agree with yours. Results should be better, and yes it is time for Pardew (and the team) to deliver. That said - we are back to the old knee jerk(s) reaction of 'we have a problem - we are not winning games - sack the manager' - total and utter bollux. We, of all teams should, by now, have worked out that just because the team is not performing on the field, this is not an excuse to push yet another manager out of the revolving door. We've done this for years - and where has it got us - err nowhere. So why not go for a much more radical approach, and when the team and the manager are struggling for form, results, whatever - we the fans and the Football Board actually support them, get behind them and back them even more. Just a thought.
  11. Errr no, you didn't, but you have now. Even so - to suggest that he only has another 3 games, after what we have been through in the last couple of years is lunacy. Much mooted at his introduction was a 5 year plan - not 5 week, 5 games, 5 signings - 5 bloody years. So let's at least give the bloke a chance - eh?
  12. So you're going to give him anohter 3 games and then if things don't get better - sack him. Nice move - that will sort everything out - I can see why you chose that user name now.

Errr just who are these promotion chasers - cause it certainly aint us....
  14. Nice ploy by Pulis Snr then - at least now he doesn't have the dillema of not playing his own son week in week out.
  15. Ahhhh right so obviously we are saving this one for next week... Charlton Athletic 0 v 5 Southampton Far fetched..? Maybe - but remember Wolves a couple of seasons ago - who predicted that one eh..?
  16. Look on the bright side and kid yourself for a little bit longer - just assume that our league is upside down right now. Go on - you'll feel a whole lot better...
  17. So, still firmly on track for a top two finish with the play-offs as a saftey net then - looking good, looking good. Just as an aside, don't we need to get some points to finish in the top two..?
  18. Interesting to see what some of the neutrals make of it all - a few would like him sacked from Sky: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Matt-Le-Tissier-Betting-Scam-Ex-Southampton-Star-Failed-To-Kick-Ball-Out-Of-Play/Article/200909115374098?lpos=UK_News_News_Your_Way_Region_4&lid=NewsYourWay_ARTICLE_15374098_Matt_Le_Tissier_Betting_Scam%3A_Ex-Southampton_Star_Failed_To_Kick_Ball_Out_Of_Play
  19. Dirtying his name Nick? Or perhaps giving the reader an insight into some of the things that went on, but were not widely in the public domain. Books are meant to be informative - tell you the things that you didn't know and perhaps confirm some of your assumptions. Vetting books to include only the 'clean cut' image is all well and good - but arguably, by leaving out the 'dirty bits' is again cheating the fans, is it not? Damned if he does, damned if he does not. Disagree that it is not a nice picture - the picture has just not been airbrushed beyond the truth - know what I mean?
  20. I think he should be hung out to dry for this one, how the f*ck can somebody of Matts ability fail to find row z FFS. Did he cheat? Probably but who cares - it was a bookie at the end of the day. Gifting the other side a throw in, during the first 60 seconds of a game, is hardly likely to have any significant effect on that game. I really can't get too moralistic about this one to be honest, because if I think about it for a while, I have probably done much worse things in my life - therefore I can't mount my trusty steed over this one - can you?
  21. To be fair - he has used the term 'suspect'. He has not said that they are uncommitted or temperamental - he is simply posing a question based on certain players history of recent transfer rumours and speculation. Unfortunately such speculation is always likely to bring into question thier commitment to the cause - it goes with the territory. I have been one of Alpines fiercest critics in the past often openly deriding his views, but on this occasion I can't see what all the fuss is about to be honest - I think he has raised a valid point worthy of debate.
  22. To be fair - I think it's a decent question. Without doubt transfer deadline week does nothing to focus players to the job in hand. Let's be honest, if our professions were subject to such activity, would the majority of us not be looking at our phones, waiting for a call or bugging our agent to 'get me a better deal'. It has to have an effect on most (if not all) players. Coupled with all of that - there is then the knock on effect as well, 'yes you can have your move, but only if 'player x' comes this way'. However, now that it is done and dusted, those players who perhaps hankered away should be putting thier head down and doing some hard graft, a. To prove themselfs again and b. To put themselves back in the shop window for the next window. (That probably doesn't make good English - but I think you know what I mean). What we should not and cannot tolerate now - are players that outwardly show a lack of desire and commitment within what is meant to (now) be a settled squad.
  23. Not at all - do you know where we can get some..?
