  1. Basically agree. If Cortese wants to arrange the seats to say "I love Switzerland a little bit, guv" then he can do that too. The issue is that this shows how naff and useless the comms team are. Basically harmless, but also deeply low grade.
  2. This is just "up your own arse" amateur PR. I couldn't give a damn that they have decided to put a hashtag on some seats - neither here nor there for me. The fact that Jordan Sibley thinks this is a significant and interesting PR move is as laughable as it is pathetic. He's even presenting it as some major breakthrough in comms. Get a new comms director. And fast. No biggie, but Sibley is basically a low grade, keen amateur. We need a comms person with genuine experience on c £100K per annum, not a plucky, spikey haired, wannabe late 20s keen kid. That might have been okay in League One. Not now.
  3. Enormously instructive. Thanks!
  4. Aye. I fear so. If we did have another £10m to spend though, Astori would be amazing. Think he is also very competent at left back? So any fears about cover for that position might be assuaged too.
  5. Shame this transfer rumour seems to have died. Astori would be the final piece in the puzzle IMHO.
  6. I'm nerdy enough to keep a tally as the seaon goes on :-)
  7. 7th gets a Europa league slot if (a) both FA Cup finalists are top 6 teams AND (b) the League Cup winners are a top 6 team. 6th gets Europa league slot if just one of (a) and (b) is true. Only 5th is guaranteed though. I'd say most years, you'd be very unlucky to come 6th and not make the Europa League. And it's probably about 50-50 to make it from 7th place?
  8. I'd say we're maybe 8th best after the top six and Everton - although I doubt Everton will be as strong as last season. To be honest, a league which excluded the top six would be bloody exciting. Perhaps the "bottom 14" should run a subset mini-league, only counting 26 games and disregarding the 12 matches against the top six.
  9. Love the idea of using Brick in the Wall - even if it's way too complicated for a football chant. My 2p's worth: Shouldn't the last line be "All in all, it's just another Osvaldo goal"
  10. We have now signed Johnny Depp-lookalike Osvaldo for a handsome fee to add to a squad which already features the wonderfully good-looking Lovren, Schneiderlin, Gazzaniga and Cork. I reckon Lallana, Fonte, Rodriguez, Kelvin and Lambert are pretty damned good in the looks department too (so the Mrs tells me, you understand). Also, Shaw and Chambers are like members of a boy band. And Pochettino must be the the hottest manager in the league. It's not just our footbal that's sexy, is it?
  11. A joyous collection of quotes - thanks for sharing. Brightened up my morning no end! ;-)
  12. Is there really a question that Oswaldo might not be match fit? Shame if so, but starting with new players from the bench seems to be the done thign these days.
  13. I'm pretty sure that's going to happen before long.
  14. Good luck, mate. It's been a blast.
  15. Lol. Epic trolling. You're right though. The similarity between what Cortese is doing now and being in a sh1t pub near Roots Hall a few years ago hearing people sing "Michael Wilde is one of us" is just uncanny. It's nearly impossible to distinguish the two, in fact.
  16. I don't believe we will make the CL, no. I still reckon we will finish about 10th or so. And getting into the top 6 is VERY hard. But wow this looks good just at the moment.
  17. Sorry to be a pedant about this, but it seems to me that too many football fans focus on the amount spent on transfer fees, when the real financial issue involves 3 things (in no particular order): 1. What's your capital outlay? (ie transfer fees) 2. What are your running costs? (ie wages) 3. What the resale value of your capital? (ie what can you flog your players for?) Looks to me that we're pushing the envelope on point 1 a bit. But we're in okay shape on point 2 (unlike, say, QPR last season or maybe West Ham this season). I think we're in amazing shape on point 3. The Saints squad must be worth £100m+ easily?
  18. Hmmm. Guess I may not be miles off, but am I right that our sales so far amount to zero? What may we get for Billy Sharp or other likely sales?
  19. Bizarrely accurately list of predictions, all in all!
  20. An encouraging start, that's for sure. If we add Oswaldo, that'd count as a very good window (although, greedily, I'd like more!)
  21. Hope we get him. Would this be the end of our acquisitions if we do? Still think we need someone who can play centre back and left back (but seems trail went cold on Astori?)
  22. About 80% of the man of the match votes on here have gone to our 3 debutants. That's pretty damned good news, I'd say.
  23. What a great start. Had us down to lose that one. Suddenly half the squad/team being from the academy doesn't sound too crazy!
  24. Not feeling confident. Our defence looks a bit shaky to me. 3-0 to WBA.
  25. I guess the point is whether he'd be averaging, say, 5 minutes a week at Spurs as opposed to 60 minutes a week at Saints. If those were the numbers he was looking at, I'd say his World Cup chances would be better if he came to Saints. Problem is, of course, you can't know these things in advance (well, unless we offer him a contract similar to Guly's - with a clause guaranteeing him certain rights to play :-) )
