  1. "Ian Bell still owes me a day of my life back for batting like a woman in Chester-le-Sreet a couple of years ago. He is the slowest run maker I have ever seen." From 606 Boards.. LOL, this is so true. Always felt that about Ian Bell, soooooooo frustratingly slow.
  2. Maybe the footage was deliberate and unfair, but I saw very little footballing ability Still, I am sure it will be amusing watching him kick lumps out of the playboys next season
  3. Let's face it, Bell is a never will be, Carberry is a quite possibly. Why don't we give an unproven yet hungry player a chance at this level instead of letting them knock around in what is effectively our 'B' team for a few years until they go stale (or ripe enough for the first squad, according to the selectors.) Big case in point is probably Dimi... I think the selectors certainly missed his prime by about 2 years or so... Still, he's there or thereabouts now, but England fudged around for along time with crap like Solanki etc instead of picking players on their performance. Y'know, I never understand all this 'developmental squad' crap... just more positions for ECB overlords to justify theirs and their mates jobs.
  4. Surely some of the psycho's on here who would have stalked him for the past couple of months would have seen him talking to a Saints representative, somewhere? My reckoning is we probably approached but were rebuffed. Doesn't the statement come from Exeter, and not from Tisdale anyway?
  5. Corp, I bet you will buy none of those players you have listed. Stop playing FM and making up fictional transfers. Time for you to remove your head from the Southsea shingle and admit; You are interested in a player released by Crewe. You are interested in a 3rd division french player. You are interested in a UAE player. You didn't want Paul Hart as manager but because of the uncertaintity, you could attract no-one else. You still have absolutely no idea when your new floating, flying space-age stadium and training ground will be built. You still have no idea where. You are about to sell the one player who might just be able to save you from relegation. You are still heavily in debt and the plug could be pulled at any minute. Dr Al-Fialka may not be all he is cracked up to be. Quite frankly, you are mess, and it's about time you admit that. As for me, I take no joy in your predicament. I might have a giggle on here but I don't mean it, especially after the experience SFC has just had. Though we have a genuine billionaire with seemingly sound judgement, you are trying discredit him and say that he won't spend any money? How long has he been in the job? How long has Pardew had in the job? We'll sign players and we'll probably open chequebook if need be, I've no doubt about that. The agonising thing for you guys is that we rebuilding, whereas the bloodletters at Portsmouth (Storrie... what a **** that bloke is sanctioning first the overspend, then the firesale) are crimping as much as they can from the squad in preperation for ... well, I don't even want to think about it and it must be the same for you, too. You are selling because the plug can be pulled at any minute, in your heart of hearts, you know that. Corp, I do believe the fat lady is clearing her throat for the encore...
  6. He's gotta have some whack attrating a 3rd division french footballer and a player released by Crewe to don the famous blue. Maybe they could take on Pulis and Wotton to complete the set... Big Lol's @ Portsmouth.
  7. Yeah... he decides to follow them for one whole season to every game. An amazing journey... I still retain a soft spot for Hellas and its been a couple of years since I last read the book. And I find myself hating 'The Donkeys' (Chievo Verona) with an intense passion, too. Strange, but once you read the book, you kinda understand! Bloody small-time Veronese upstarts...
  8. Noted, I think I will add it to my next batch of Amazon purchases! Thank you. That's exactly what I had hoped to hear because, whilst I find the story of Romario et al enlightening, it's always good to dig deeper and find out a little more than the most successful footballing exports of a particular country. Having said that, Garrincha's story I'm sure is an interesting read. Didn't he have a problem with his legs when he was younger? They were bowed by a disease? I still haven't seen anything on Argentine football yet, other than Maradona's autobiography which was a good read but a little one-sided and loud...
  9. Oh God, I think whilst we are on the subject I bring up one of the most infamous books on Italian Football. The Miracle Of Castel Di Sangro. Truly, utterly, unbelievable from the first page to the last. The one on Hellas Verona is also brilliant... I think it was done by Tim Ryan, can't remember the name of it though..
  10. http://www.toroclub.it/efila.htm Not dated, but it doesn't look up to date. I would imagine it's probably still a wreck. :-( Ah, I do like those kind of books. Might be tempted to read Tor and Gol, the german and spanish versions, I'm sure they are an equally interesting read too. Brazilian football.... an insight, that must be, er, interesting! Seeing as we've somehow morphed onto football books, I am now tempted list and recommend some from my extensive collection. Many, of which, has probably prolonged my insomina as opposed to have helped cure it...
  11. Likewise... last thing I heard about the Filadelfia was the repeated utterings of the local council saying that they would refurbish it over and over again yet nothing ever happened to it... The two books on Italian football from John Foot and Paddy Agnew give a good insight into these things. On another note, I remember 'managing' Torino once on FM and resurrecting the Filadelfia. Oh good times
  12. There is quite alot that could be regarded as a quick **** round here, to be fair. I do concede though, the passion is really still with Saints but like anyone, I do need a football fix and that's my local team, so....
  13. He did. They've got Tommy Mooney at the moment, but he only played 3 games last year. They've got another two young english lads on the books I believe, understandable, there is a sizeable ex-pat community. One of the youngsters who goes to Aloha College is also going on trial with Fulham... can't remember his heritage though, think he might be Scandanavian. Just missed out on promotion to Liga Adelante last year, lost in the playoffs. Know that feeling oh too well! Looking forward to prospective trips to Spanish Morrocco again though this year.
  14. I am one of the gulity parties still unsure of my attendance at Leeds tomorrow. Kinda difficult to get the time off at this very moment... So, I apologise for the uncertaintity with me at the moment, Steve.
  15. I have to say, I do like reading these threads. I was considering following Malaga whilst I was over here but the nearest club is UD Marbella so I will prob buy an ST there for next season. But of course, however much it pains me, my true love is still SFC.
  16. My first initial reaction was £35m However... Benzema, £35m too? Hmmmm
  17. Haha oh dear Portsmouth, must be quite tough on you boys... two leagues above us and we are still laughing AT YOU. Hows your new german superstar Eugene Bopp doing? Ha, ha, ha. PS: See you in 1 or 2 years time... if not, be sure to wave to us on your descent.
  18. LOL at Portsmouth trialling a 3rd division French League player and Eugene Bopp - not good enough for CREWE. Lol, i think the wheels have well and rtruly fell off the Portsmouth bandwagon. See you in a year or twos time, fish boys...
  19. Well worth a look around if you've got a few minutes and fancy a lol http://improveverywhere.com/
  20. Stallone was the perfect actor, I counter. I mean, who else could have delivered such performances in that style? He cast himself perfectly IMO.
  21. Barca must be so stupid. Hmmm.... time to get in contact about a swap involving Xavi and Iniesta for Wotton and Pulis?
  22. Have to agree about Rocky all of a sudden becoming capable enough to be a diplomat for World Peace. And whats this? Surely not... http://www.themovieblog.com/2008/05/rocky-7-may-happen
  23. Thing is, up until Davenport 'meeting' Jakobsson, Davenport was a superb centre half at Coventry and showed a little promise for Spurs. As soon as he met Jakobsson, he want to tosh. Much like everyone else in our defence. Nilsson is still the only footballer I have seen bottle a 90-10 in his favour challenge.
  24. Nilsson and Jakobsson were two of the worst players I have ever seen for Saints. Davenport isn't even close to those two bottlers.

    Rocky...

Seriously, I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed watching through them again (though I missed out V, which was a tragic mistake of a film.) A few minor flaws though 1. Apollo should never have died 2. Paulie was continuously a ***** and should have been laid out. 3. He should have fought Drago again at somepoint, or Clubber Lang 4. V was appalling. 5. Paulie was continuously a ***** and should have been laid out. 6. The Robot in IV shouldd have been dusted off for Rocky Balboa. Graham Opinions?
