  1. Oh arse, looks like I forgot I was supposed to be going to a wedding on the 27th. Wrangling it so that I get to see us play West Brom is going to be difficult enough, looks like I'll have to count myself out of the fans match
  2. Excellent analysis. Not just because it's positive - Neville's insight and reading of proceedings is second to none. He's wasted on England, I'd rather see him coaching in club football.

Do you have a higher quality version of that by any chance?
  4. The biggest take-home from that article, for me, is that most people's opinions have been formed on Mayuka based on just 166 minutes of football.
  5. I meant Southampton residents' resentment. Having first hand heard racist abuse directed at Guly, I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility. I say this without casting any aspersions, nor presuming the guilt of the crowd members that gave it the big one towards Boruc. Certainly an interesting point.
  6. Repressed resentment of the large Polish population of Southampton? Just one potential reason. Obviously Bart was Polish too, but he rarely featured in the first team. I dare say some would have had choice words for him after his performance against Blackpool last year anyway. I'm pretty liberal (forum liberal? odd turn of phrase) and said as much a few posts above yours, #67. So yes.
  7. My French is a little rusty, but I'm fairly sure that's not what he said! Oh, Google Translate.
  8. Well this all got a bit microanalytical. Isn't the broader point that a Southampton FC player received an undue amount of abuse from so-called fans, culminating in a disproportionate amount of outrage and hand-wringing after the player responded? An entirely avoidable debacle that hurt the club in the long run. I've had people comment to me on Twitter that they didn't hear anything, but I'd be amazed if anyone could hear every utterance in the stand they're situated. Boruc is playing well now and there's a degree of harmony apparent in the squad - if he was lying about there being racial abuse it would be an odd decision to rake it up again and put the spotlight back upon the incident and himself.
  9. I think many on here have underestimated just how difficult it is to get up to speed when jumping straight into the middle of the season. Not only that but then attempting to break into a side when you have little matchday sharpness. In terms of building understanding with your team mates there's no substitute for competitive fixtures so he and the management are stuck in a bit of a Catch 22 at the moment. If MP plays him, it's a risk. If Forren doesn't get game time, he's less likely to be ready. In terms of the January transfer window all of this should have been taken into account and that's what made Forren a poor transfer, not any perceived lack of ability. Have a bit of faith, I reckon this one will come good next season.
  10. The accused could have (and may yet) cost us our Premier League status. Incredible 'fans'.
  11. Just a bit of fun for the kids (and big kids), surely? Harmless enough.
  12. No, much more than that. More for things like driving at 100mph because he needed the loo and betting on Portsmouth vs Barnsley whilst still playing for them. My favourite moment of our exile to the Football League show was when Manish asked Claridge if he was a gambling man - his face was a picture.
  13. I'd be good for left mid/wing or as an attacking full back.
  14. Claridge was very complimentary to us in the Football League, perhaps even a little too kind at times. The man's a bit of a muppet but his footballing knowledge is top drawer. Certainly little to grumble about if any of those predictions prove correct.
  15. If any of you lot play FIFA you may be happy to hear that I put forward quite a few updates for Morgan's stats which have just been accepted. Should be applied in next week's update.
  16. He covers the most ground in the division, makes the most interceptions, scores goals despite essentially playing a holding role and has a very decent pass completion rate considering that the direction he plays the ball is generally positive. Very, very impressive season so far.
  17. Perhaps, but I still think Frazer's decent cover - especially if we end up short in central defence and need Yoshida there. By all means get rid if there's a viable replacement, but not before we source one! But yes, it's clear there's substantial improvement we can (and ought to) make to the overall quality of the squad if we want to step up. Twaddle. Why hasn't Seaborne been utilised at LB then? How did Fox keep Harding out of the starting XI for most of last season?
  18. From that list I'd rather we keep Mayuka, Richardson, Guly, Fox and possibly Sharp until adequate replacements are acquired (even if only to act as squad players).
  19. Hear, hear. It may be a slightly dubious honour but well done Adam all the same. It would be interesting to see how much more of an impact Lallana could have if we were able to wrap him in cotton wool for a season.
  20. Spotted that, is it Becchio?

    Need investment

One quick word of advice - you may struggle to gain buyer confidence with a Weebly/Freewebs style website and Hotmail address. A .co.uk domain and related email address shouldn't cost more than about £15 for 2 years from the likes of 123-reg.co.uk and make a big difference if you're serious about giving the business a go. Adding a business address to the footer is equally helpful. Also I notice that customer testimonials are a bit hidden away in the blog section. That stuff's really useful and ought to be featured on every page, or at very least given a spot on the homepage. Hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in - I'm a web designer and it's my job to get clients' sites converting traffic into sales. Good luck!

    Song for Gaston

It's pretty bizarre that many on here currently only see his negative attributes and are blind to what he brings to the team. Mind you, I've never really found Saints Web to represent anything other than the extremes of attitudes within our fanbase... Using Gaston's fee as a millstone to place around his neck isn't really beneficial to any of the parties involved and I don't believe that two-thirds of an injury-blighted season is enough to attain the full picture. Get behind the lad and give him a proper chance to prove his worth. On topic, the chant we use is hardly original, but it does build and sustain nicely around the ground.
  23. Bit of an insensitive thread, the poor lad's clearly got worms.
  24. My maternal grandfather has some distant American relatives - they came to visit a few years back and by all accounts loved just about everything in Winchester. It's certainly a historic city.
  25. That's the main time when fans can have an influence and pick a team up, surely? This season the Northam has been the quietest and dullest I've ever known it to be. Sang as much as I could but was literally a lone voice for much of the game. Could hear a bit of noise up at the bac of the stand and some more vocal support from the Kingsland North but overall we bottled it.
