Whatever players we sign they need to be good leaders. We need at least 2 in the first 11 and definitely one at the back.
-
I don't think that's what he's saying. He's saying he's happy that it's in their hands and if they beat us it continues to be in their hands, and that's not reliant on other results or anything like that.
-
I think that all managers now have a maximum shelf life of 2/3 years at a club before the mollycoddled players get bored and start ignoring them. I also think there's an issue with clubs the size of ourselves and Stoke, when you get near the top of the group below the big 6, it feels as though if you want to try and push on and challenge them you have to start taking risks on players with questionable attitude in order to get better quality players than you already have. I think Stoke are guilty of trying a bit too hard to be clever in the transfer market, which is pretty much what's got us too (added to an appalling managerial appointment).

As much as it's annoying, I'm pretty sure the players will cope with an extra hour on their incredibly luxury coach.

We don't just buy success. We try, but we aren't very good at doing it any more.

The annual "Would you take Adkins back" thread?
Barry the Badger replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Yes we had a good squad, but pretty much every player improved under him. -
The way I’m thinking about this to get up for it despite our crap ness is that if we were 10th in the championship and had an fa cup semi against Chelsea tomorrow id be doing my nut, so it’s all good really, we are the underdogs, let’s **** them up.
-
I accept the arguments about Semi Final's being at Wembley taking away how special the final feels but... 1 - We aren't likely to get to the final, so I'll take a day out at Wembley thanks very much 2 - I think it's more important that as many Saints fans as possible get to see the semi final if they want to
-
It's not that hard to work out he's talking about Everton away
-
Telling the fans to give ourselves a round of applause at half time for our support was properly cringey.
-
Well that's true, but we're bound to have a Championship/League one playoff at Wembley at some point in the next few years

Two games against Chelsea, which is more important?
Barry the Badger replied to OttawaSaint's topic in The Saints
Wait, so your argument is that we should prioritise the league so we can a better chance of more cup runs in future. We have a cup run, we're in the middle of one right now. -

But for a club our size, sooner or later we are going to get relegated. No chance that we go another 30 years straight. It’s not as though we stay up this year and that’s the end of it. Gotta say the cup. Doesn’t come round often for clubs like Saints. -
I've bought a membership so I'm complicit, but the membership system is an absolute crock of ****. Totally unnecessary and the only purpose it serves is milking more cash out of the fans.

The last home Pompey game says you’re wrong!

Official..Southampton appoint Mark Hughes.
Barry the Badger replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
It feels a bit similar to back when we went into administration and people were saying Mark Fry (the administrator) was a breath of fresh air, basically because hit the low bar of speaking relatively plain English and not bull****ting too much. -
That was the initial announcement, but I'm pretty sure it was extended after that down to people who had been to just 1 or 2 games
-
I can’t believe there’s really a Saints fan out there who doesn’t think the Hapoel game was a complete and utter **** up.
-
That’s not the clubs fault. People have to take responsibility for their own actions. If it’s not safe don’t come.

This will be fun...get those applications in..

The goals are stuck in the middle of the hall making a tiny pitch with no back wall, and you aren't allowed to move them because they're locked down. There are no markings for areas where the goals are. It takes them more than 5 minutes to switch the hall from the hockey people who use it before us, meaning we lose up to 10 minutes of our allotted time depending on the week. Not all of us are members leaving many stuck stood at the entry gate waiting for a receptionist to be available to let us in. Nothing earth shattering, they clearly just aren't that bothered about 5 a side groups.

Hi all Following the closure of Fleming Park and its replacement with that very shiny but entirely unpractical new sports centre (don't get me started), my footie team are trying to find somewhere decent to play friendly five a side once a week (ideally Tues or Weds 8pm-9pm). I've tried a load, Solent Sports Centre, Cantell School, Romsey and Mountbatten, Bitterne Park, Tauntons, the list goes on. Struggling to find anywhere with availability. Thought I'd ask on here in desperation, just in case anybody works somewhere with a sports hall and knows it has availability. We're not fussy, just needs to be a decent side for fives, and have the wide but low five a side goals. Cheers Barry

Do you honestly believe that people at the club are putting all this time into a transfer with no intention of seeing it through. So many hilarious conspiracy theories on here.

Your reply is the nonsense. I was sat very close to the dugout and even after the sub (which was clearly to add some height at the back to counter their changes) he was encouraging the team to push up and attack. At one point he was very frustrated with Hojbjerg as he wanted him in their box for a set piece and he was hesitating.
