Player of the 2011/12 season so far
Barry the Badger replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Lambert. His form this seaon makes this time last year when we all though his legs had gone seem like a bad dream. -
Surely the whole point of "safe standing" is that you can't cram twice as many people in. It takes long enough to get out of the top of the Northam now, can't imagine what it would be like if they let more people in!

Keep going.

Guly - 45 shots (21 on target) - 7 goals Sharp - 21 shots (13 on target) - 9 goals Who is more productive in front of goal do you think? I love Guly, but these arguments are so flawed. He's nowhere near as prolific as Sharp. -
I have a free ticket to give away, so please let me know if you want it, even though I'm not actually going to give it to the first person to reply, and am instead using this thread to demonstrate how many forum friends I have.

It's not Kitson. He moves towards the front post. It's their number 20, Thorne, who back pedals out of the pack. He's being marked by Schneiderlin but ends up where Jos is standing. Jos and Schneiderlin sort of get in eachothers way and Thorne knocks it back across. Essentially the point I'm trying to make is that there are a lot of players making mistakes for this goal, it was late in the game and we were tiring. Harding did panic slightly when conceding a corner, Lallana isn't as switched on as he could be, Schneiderlin doesn't read it as well as the player he's marking, Jos doesn't quite take control of the ball in the air as he could, Kelvin's positioning could perhaps be a little better, and Guly could have done better. We should defend as a team, and as a team there were a lot of small mistakes contributing to a pretty sh*tty goal, so to focus so much on Guly's reluctance to get knocked out is incredibly harsh, it should never have got to the point where he needed to. -

I'm not really arguing the Guly point. I agree that he should've done better. I just find it amusing that he's getting slated while Lallana's role in the goal (which was, in my opinion, at least as bad) barely gets mentioned. -

Yes that's right. He is the golden boy and above criticism. As the ball comes over his head instead of switching on to possible danger he just drifts away from the nearest Pompey players making no attempt to mark anybody. But he's a local lad so lets blame Guly. -

Guly could definitely have been more commited in his attempt to get the ball. However, as the corner is taken who is the player marking Ward? It's Lallana. I'm not one for scapegoating, players will make mistakes, so I feel a bit bad for highlighting this. But for Guly to get ripped apart for the goal is completely short sighted. I wonder what we would be talking about if Guly had left his man at a corner and Lallana then not made the header. My bet is we would be talking about Guly. -
It's difficult to see as the camera starts zoomed in on the corner taker, but it's interesting that I've not seen it mentioned that Lallana was the nearest player to Ward as the ball came back across, but was stood watching.

I think my dissapointment was more due to not having been to Fratton before, I expected it to be absolutely electric. On another day I probably would've said it was a decent atmosphere, but it was nothing special, and it should have been.

I did have a few moments of frustration with one lad in our group not singing at all, the youngest of our lot. He's a nice guy and he enjoys the football and the pub but his Dad buys his season ticket for him and whilst he does support the Saints I just don't see any raw passion there. I think that's indicative of a lot of the younger 'lads' I see in the Northam and at away games now, they support Saints, but it doesn't really really matter to them.

I was disappointed with the atmosphere in our end. I normally tend to join in with songs rather than start them, but I kept trying to start them yesterday to get things going and couldn't believe people were just standing silently all around me, at Pompey away. It was ok at times, but Orient last season was much much better. The bubble was designed to take the edge off the atmosphere and it was a complete success in that regard.

Are people still waiting for Pompey ticket email?
Barry the Badger replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
At the end of the day if you're going to play it so ridiculously safe and hand in four identical application forms you're running the risk of getting all those tickets. -
The "I'm on the bus for the skate game" roll call
Barry the Badger replied to Spudders's topic in The Saints
Bus 20. Can't bloody wait, not for the bus, more the match. -
Here is a piece of information I'm proudly desperate to share with everybody.... and here is a question tacked on the end to make it a legitimate thread ;-) Hope your lad wins his match. I've known people to turn up as late as half time and still get in fine.

Sounded like that poster and his dad had put in their own seperate applications (albeit with eachothers numbers noted on them).

The only reason I know what is going on with tickets and picking up coach passes is that I'm on this site. There must be hundreds of fans out there who also have not received an email and so have no clue what is going on. My mates only know because I've been able to forward the email people have posted on here. The article on the clubs website 2 weeks ago stated that all succesful applicants from the first ballot would receive details by email 'shortly' if I remember correctly. The ticket office must have a very different interpretation of the word shortly to me.

Super Kel notching up 250 appearances

Absolutely, I hope he gets a chance to prove himself if we do get promoted. -
My PC has decided to no longer display things on it's monitor.
Barry the Badger replied to Colinjb's topic in Technology Chat
Try another computer with the monitor to see if that it's the monitor or your machine, alternatively try your machine with a different monitor, or with your TV... At least then you know where the failure is. -
But Saints set the criteria, if they really wanted to shift the tickets they could. I wouldn't imagine they're making that much money off the busses, and have probably decided it's not worth attempting to sell the last few hundred tickets as it would require ANOTHER ballot, which means more people phoning and emailing constantly asking what's going on. Just don't think it's worth their while.

I guess because there's nothing in it, money wise, for Saints.
