Brighton should have been down to nine men!
Barry the Badger replied to Jeff Le Taxi's topic in The Saints
We're too busy diving for pens to worry about this sort of thing ;-) -
I went to school with a Phil Mike Hunt.

I would imagine Adkins will treat them as just another game. Let us lot get overexcited about it whilst the players stay calm aand play as they would on any other day.

When The Police Filmed The Northam + Other Games
Barry the Badger replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
I do have some sympathy for the position the police are put in, but it is crazy that I'm wondering whether if I get caught with a hip flask on the pompey trip will I end up missing the game. -
I would take a bunch of limited players trying bloody hard over a bunch of talented players swanning about for 90 minutes, every single time. That applies to saints or England. And yes, I care about the England national team.
-
Although one could say it would be a shame if somebody who hasn't attended any away games got a ticket ahead of somebody who has, because they are using a friend of a friends season ticket.

I don't really get why the communication from the club is so poor at present, when everything else seems so slick. At least one of our party entered the ballot and will have to ask for time off work if successful. Perhaps they shouldn't have assumed but the no refunds could've been made clearer.

You think? Would be pretty unfair on the lads that got totton this far.

Holy crap. Whilst I've been fairly defensive of peoples right to chant what they like, that hull thing is f**ked up. -
I'm not saying they directly prioritised it but some people will only have the money/goodwill/time to attend a certain number of games. Certainly when I wasn't lucky enough to have a season ticket this is what I did. Hmmm, I can only really get away with one game this month... so what games do we have... Charlton Yeovil Peterborough Man Utd Huddersfield Right then, well we do have a great chance of beating Yeovil, but for atmosphere the Man U game will be fantastic to be at, plus if we beat them it will be ****ing amazing. So I will do that one this month. That doesn't mean that for those other games I wasn't listening to the radio, or nervously checking my phone, but if a choice has to be made over a period of time of course people are going to gravitate towards the "big games". I do understand what you're saying, why should it matter, it's always Saints playing. It's great that you have the same level of commitment to every single game, but I would suggest that the vast majority of people would look forward to a game against a team at the top of the league more than a game against a team at the bottom. I really dont get why you find this so hard to understand.
-
No. YOU really cannot compare the two, because you can't get your head around it. Saints vs Charlton - Probable win for the Saints, decent atmosphere, good feeling if we win. Saints vs Man Utd - Probably defeat for the Saints but an amazing atmosphere and going bloody mental IF we win. If you can't understand why some people would prioritize the latter game, there is little point trying to explain this.
-
The crux of your issue is that you can't understand why somebody would be more excited by Man Utd in the cup, than they would Charlton in the league. Fair enough if you disagree with that stance, but once you get your head around the fact that people DO find games like that more exciting, it really makes perfect sense. You are massively oversimplifying the money argument too. When I was looking for cars, my girlfriend pointed at a Ford Focus at £10'000. "No, it's too expensive" was my reply, now it's not that I couldn't find the money if I needed to it's just that I made a decision that it wasn't worth stretching my finances for, it was too expensive for what it was. Now if we had walked around the corner and there had been a brand new Ferrari for £11'000 I would have been reaching for the cheque book. To a lot of people, a match vs Yeovil in League 1 was a Ford Focus, and a match vs United in the cup was the Ferrari. I don't really understand why you cannot see the reasons for that.

I've been both sides. When I first moved back from uni I couldn't really justify a season ticket, I attended maybe 5-10 games each season and yes, when a big game came along I wrote it on the calendar nice and early. In the season we stayed up under Pearson I attended maybe 10 games but when the Sheffield United game came along of course I was there. Now I'm lucky enough to have a season ticket, and am delighted when we get bigger crowds. My uncle attends about 5 games a season with us, doesn't mean he's any less passionate when he does come along, he just has other commitments.

Last away game of 2001/02 IIRC, at Villa.

The Nicola Cortese St Mary's Stadium has a nice ring to it I think.

I rang the TO in the end and they don't want to see it. One of them is 21, so doesn't fall into any of the Saints concessions and never had to give ID, was just wondering if they would query that really. Here's hoping 2 aways is enough.
-
Does anybody know if they're going to want to see ID for the 17-22 tickets? Two of my lot fall in that category and was going to take the ballot down later but don't want to go down then be turned away.

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/groupsave_calendar.html Ok, I was wrong. They must've withdrawn it, bastards. "However, there are certain days when GroupSave cannot be used on some services. The tables below give full details" Saturday 26 November First Great Western All services from Fareham, Southampton, Chandlers Ford, Romsey and Eastleigh arriving at Bristol Temple Meads before 15:00 Football
-
If I do the same search for a week there's no football on, or a Sunday, there are no Groupsaves showing, but people on here have definitely got them. First Great Western are saying to me that groupsaves are not available for that route at any time, but people on here have them. Confused. Wierd.
-
Has anybody got the Groupsave 3 or 4 railcards for the train journey? Rail company telling me they are not available for this route and I just want to make sure they aren't stitching me up.

What are you on about? It's not sung by teams in the Premier League because it's about promotion. What exactly do you hate about it?

13 minute highlights of Saints 4 - Coventry 2
Barry the Badger replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Absolutely. The main commentator is ok but the co-commentator just sounds like a random ****ed up fan they've dragged out of the pub. Good highlights though. -
Fair enough. Then as you say, we will have to agree to disagree. Plenty of players have surprised me at this level as a result of Adkins coaching and I see no reason why the same would not apply to Barnard.

3pm Saturday (H) - looking forward to it?
Barry the Badger replied to Winchester Red's topic in The Saints
Wetherspoons is open from 5am or something like that isn't it? Unless that's the time you normally start in which case fair enough :-)
